The royal family

Is Meghan a narcissist?

I keep seeing these reels and social media smears on Meghan being a narcissist and abusive partner to Harry. She certainly doesn't seem overly popular with the royal family or understood the expectations of her as a royal when she married him.

I'm by no means a royalist or a fan of Megan's. But I'm the same age as Harry so always felt I could relate a little to him. I haven't read his book or watched the netflix docs.

The main thing that doesn't sit quite right for me is they wanted a 'private life' and then done anything but. Did Megan use Harry's desire for privacy to isolate him from his family and friends?

She doesn’t film herself driving in cars at home, it’s always carefully curated clips of her prancing around, playing the perfect trad wife in her house and garden.

Why do you even know what she posts? Why are you following someone you dislike so much? Is it simply so you can tear them apart later on a thread about narcissism...

lampshadez · 05/10/2025 17:34

The irony of posters on this thread accusing someone they don't know of being a narcissist 😆

And a psychopath. And a sociopath

This thread really shows the best of Mumsnet. Not.

Bumblebee72 · 05/10/2025 17:45

I quite like her, but I don't you could make a programme as With love, if you weren't a narcissist. But aren't most actors essentially narcissits? There job is to perform and then people clap them,

TheRealGoose · 05/10/2025 17:45

Oh yikes, I feel a little sorry for her to be honest, she just can’t get it right, she’s so clueless. The way she walked out the hotel through the lobby in that white get up was so put on, like she was on a cat walk, or she’d practice it and in her head was saying right sashay slowly..I felt my toes curl a little for her, it was so try hard and loving every moment of the attention, so self conscious . She really needs to look at the proper a listers and see how they just walk normally and quickly. And never look like they are loving it.

and now the insensitivity of that video with her feet up, clearly no thought in her head that Diana died near there, or that she was at the location her husbands mother died, she was so completely focused on herself.

I think most people would be aware enough if you were close to a location that a loved one of your husband died, it would cross your mind. The fact it didn’t even enter hers, says a lot she doesn’t want heard. Total self absorption.

Outig · 05/10/2025 17:53

I think she is certainly trolling, she does it a lot. I doubt Harry is bothered by it all, he loves any opportunity to claim Meghan is misunderstood and bullied.

It's crazy, I know a teacher who uses threads like this to show the perils & insanity of social media!

Most narcissists are unaware they are narcissists.

MM is interesting to observe and comment on 🤷‍♀️

I’d love to see Jan’s official lesson plan where she actually cites and saves Mumsnet threads about the perils of social media, complete with authorisation notes from the head of department or head teacher 🤣

Fair enough but often the same people who comment, analyse, criticise, consume everything she does also claim to have no interest in her 🤔

Balenciaga was accused of trying to glamourise sexual abuse of children and the sexualisation of children, and was pressured into apologising for the attempted commodification of such appalling crimes and themes.

Very glad you posted this, as people may not be aware. The Sidley Twins (Twin Talk) have just released a detailed video on this on YouTube. It really is illuminating, the Balenciaga campaign was incredibly shocking and distasteful, images of children in a highly inappropriate context (one wonders where the parents of these children were during the shoot).

I don’t know how she can work with this brand and purport to promote the safety of children online.

It's probably a good thing to consider going back to school. We are never too old to learn and improve ourselves & it's never too late to start trying. I wish you lots of luck!

So, you can’t provide evidence for your false claim, and now you’re trying to deflect. Gotcha! 😉🤣

To be fair though the designer that was in charge at the time of that campaign is now at Gucci and all the celebs turned out for his show this year.

True, but they aren’t collecting awards for being Humanitarians of the Year, for their work protecting children’s online safety!

Ignorance about that Balenciaga campaign isn’t even plausibly deniable. The paperwork strewn about in one photo featuring a handbag was about a First Amendment case relating to child SA. It was all over the media at the time (and discussed extensively on FWR on this website if anyone wants to look it up). What’s more, Meghan’s good friend, Missan Harriman, made a couple of heartfelt social media posts condemning Balenciaga for the campaign, and inviting his friends and colleagues to boycott the brand.

BasiliskStare · 05/10/2025 20:33

Well , my two penny'orth , for what it is worth (probably nothing) is that MM is living her best life. And good on her. She obviously doesn't mind the brickbats , she's prepared to give as good as she gets (with eg the before / during / after comments ) I do think she fundamentally misunderstood what being part of WRF was and shame on Harry it he did not explain it to her . But I think her idea of having "made it" - she has. I think they are both more attuned to turning up to awards and receiving them rather than giving them , I think they like the freedom of not having to adhere to WRF rules & so be it. I thought she looked great in that Balenciaga white outfit - TBH I think it would have looked better on someone much taller but that's what a lot of designer outfits are like , but it was her style. And she is pretty much an influencer now so this must have been a big deal for her. I do agree with children's safety and wellness she might have avoided this however. Anyway you look at it , she might have thought twice about being associated with that brand. Now how this translates into the amount of money they want - I don't know. But she's taken what she has and she's making her best of it. Of course their NF deal and Spotify failed because they just don't seem to be good at producing high quality content but if she can find a way of earning enough by appearing in glamorous settings or selling things online - great. But they are both a bit guilty of being a bit Rent a royal IMHO. But who am I to say if people are prepared to pay them to turn up.

For the avoidance of doubt I don't hate Meghan , I dislike some of the untruths / half truths she has told and I'm frankly fed up with Flouncing Harry . But I would rather they did something which kept them in the lifestyle into which MM would like to be accustomed and H has been accustomed which doesn't involve them selling stories about the WRF.

Yes, you can have autism and ASPD (the proper term for sociopathy) Sadly, I have experience of a family member with both

And the creative director st the time who allowed that to happen has left the job.

If you wsnt to continue to consider that brand tarnished because of the person who allowed it to happen ...thats up to you. But not everyone will continue to boycott them forever? Sure if the person who allowed it to happen was still on the job...but if they arent then no.
