Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

But in a few years time comments about Charlotte will be in the headlines and Catherine will be in the background.

If she is using the lighter colour to cover up greys, I think that is a shame. Why can her husband, who is the same age as her, be allowed to have a few grey hairs but not her? It would be nice to see an undeniably stylish woman in the public eye going naturally grey. I think one of the chicest hair styles on older women is a long grey bob, so elegant. It's what I plan to do when I go grey.

I’m not saying Kate should be the one to not cover her grey. Of course she can do what she likes with her hair. She seems happy with her current hair colour and clearly has always liked having long hair.

Personally, I have always admired that Kate hasn’t gone down the Botox/filler/face lift route like other women in the public eye. Not that there is anything wrong with doing what you like to your own face, it’s just good to see a woman ageing naturally.

Regarding the defiantly vs definitely thing, I have dyslexia, but will defiantly continue on writing even though I will definitely make more spelling mistakes.

Oh but she’s had a face lift and all sorts done in the past. It’s absolutely clear. Many women in the public eye feel obliged to, especially when they are wealthy. Do feel sorry for kate with all the scrutiny, but I guess it was her choice to marry into royalty. For all Harry’s idiotic behaviour , he had no choice.

Exactly — and that’s the key point to land on. Even if the colour looks different because of the light, the rain, or the angle, and even if she were wearing a wig, it’s really nobody’s business.

She’s been through cancer treatment — that’s her story to tell, not ours to speculate on. The respectful stance is: admire the fact she looks well, note the change in style if you want, but stop short of turning her health and hair into gossip.

So the bottom line: whether it’s highlights, a wig, or just bad lighting, Catherine looked happy, healthy, and elegant — and that’s what matters.

OMG does it matter.

I tend to think about have I got time to go to the shops today, what have I got in to make for dinner, is it recycling or black bins this week.

I'd love to have the head space to think is a random person that I don't know wearing a wig or dying her hair lighter to hide grey hairs!

opencecilgee · 04/09/2025 20:58

Love the colour but her hair has never been this thick

What a repulsive comment. The woman is 44. Of course she will be "aging".

No way is this a wig.
Doesn't even look like a wig. You can see her scalp through her hair parting.
Probably extensions to add length and volume.
I'm more bothered by her eyes. Zoom in on the picture and cover the rest of her face over with your hand. Focus on her eyes.
She looks very tired, and she does not look well.

waminty · 04/09/2025 21:23

I've no comment to make on her appearance good bad or indifferent, because I don't really care much TBH. (So why am I reading the thread you ask!, because I can lol)

As for commentary elsewhere on her new hairdo, that's what being the future Queen is all about. It goes with the territory, and I'm sure everything is carefully chosen with reportage and press pics in mind. I'd say she is well used to both negative (rare enough) and positive (lots) of commentary on her appearance, that's what she has been in training for, and she's doing the same for her kids who will be next.

On a personal level I wish her well in her cancer journey. I'm sure it takes the stuffing out of you, and in other jobs people can be somewhat anonymous apart from their work colleagues or can WFH. She can't. But it's her job and that's the way it is.

I swear every year, after the summer we have this dross in the media about her lighter-coloured hair. The answer is I hope that she has had the summer to relax from all the ridiculous comments about every tiny part of her appearance. Her hair is sun bleached, (like most people in the height of the summer) and give it a few weeks and her hair will be as bright and shiny as a new conker again.
Please pop this in your diary for next year so we don’t all have to play this annual game again…🥱🥱🥱

SereneCoralDog · 04/09/2025 21:32

The new hair looks absolutely dreadful. It drains every bit of colour from her face and puts ten years on her.

Spoilsport. Defiantly a wig.

Defiantly??

Gladysknightjustwalkinmyshoes · 04/09/2025 21:34

This thread has went beyond fashion or style of her hair to vitriolic comments about a woman/mother that's undergone cancer treatment.
A lot of pp will have had their lives touched by cancer in one-way or another.
Not cool.

Love. This woman's been accused for years of "doing her make up too heavily" (her wedding) "having the wrong hairstyle" (all the time) "picking the wrong painter" (a professional who painted her in what she was comfortable in & made a background to suit) & "needing a new hairdresser" (employed by her as she presumably likes there work) all in relation to her looking older, tired, saggy

At some point you have to accept that A) shes happy with hair & B) it's her face which she can't drastically change that throwing everything off no amount of "cut it short" is going to change the fact that her hair is not the problem here it's her skin quality which has been noticeable for years

GladAllOver · 04/09/2025 21:35

Just MYOFB.

Her job is to birth the next generation of royals and look pretty by Wills’ side. Of course people are going to comment on her appearance; she’ll dress knowing that. It’s all good publicity for the royals and helps hide all the unsavoury business they’d rather bury.
