Prince Harry's Wreath

So apparently Prince Harry has asked someone to lay a wreath on his behalf to honour the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.
I know the military meant a lot to him but he's being called out on it as he mentions his grandfather. I'd like to think he did this with the best intentions but the cynic in me wonders if he did it as a dig at William for only posting a message on social media.

@ProfhilodisasterI don't think it was a dig at William . He's so self centred. " what about meee? "

BemusedAmerican · 19/08/2025 00:48

Can't he just quietly have someone lay a wreath? Why does he have to issue a press release?

Because otherwise people might not notice, and without PR he's less than nothing?

Also, if his request is refused - as it was when he wanted a wreath laying at the Cenotaph on his behalf - that's another handy claim for "victimhood"

@BoredZelda … give over 🙄

"Remember me?", more like.

He must have heard there's a 4-bed house coming free on the Windsor estate soon.

As if Meghan would live in a 4 bedroom house !
She made her feelings very clear about the Christopher Wren designed house in one of the most prestigious areas of London!

I mean if William feels it's a dig at him maybe next time he'll do a bit more than get a lackey to post something on social media? I'm sure he can do it in between putting to chips on for the kids tea!

How do you know W didn’t lay a wreath ? He could have done it privately .

It is the strangest thing isn’t it? He’s like the ghost of a royal, still going through the motions but nobody knows he’s there. The letter says all the right things, and if it had come from a real royal, i.e a working one, it would be fine.

Whenever Harry pulls a stunt like this it reminds me of those groups who had a flurry of success early in their career, split up through “artistic differences”, reformed in various iterations and then spend the rest of their lives playing run down holiday camps and clubs and anywhere else who’ll have them to increasingly disinterested audiences.

Such a good analogy and so true. Except those types ate just trying keep the wolf from the door. Harry has millions.

That’s a great analogy 😁

I haven’t seen or heard the pair for some weeks now and it’s been nice.

Isn’t it! Harry, formerly known as Prince coming to a holiday camp near you!

It's very sad. He was monumentally stupid and now he's stuck in a world where he's nothing and he still so desperately wants everything he had. His friends, his family, his life and purpose, everything he'd ever known. Threw it all away like yesterday's rubbish.

35 years of service?? Don't be so stupid, 'Haz'!

Absolutely this. He threw away a life of guaranteed luxury, prestige and deference, in order to be a C list curiosity in a land which has no use for him, nor he for it.

I still don't think he really understands just what he has done, hence stunts like this one. His ridiculous security 'case' was also another attempt to regain the status he so gleefully cast aside, rather than a genuine concern about his security.

I think (well for me anyway) people are really losing interest in actually seeing their faces and hearing their voices, even if it’s just to criticise. The last thing I saw of either of them was when the Netflix cooking show came out and I watched (trudged through) the first three episodes then abandoned it. They seem more of a chore than a treat so I think I’m done with both, the ennui has kicked in. The occasional comment on MN not withstanding.

Mildorado · 19/08/2025 12:53

I think you've nailed it, @BunnyLake . They're off the radar now, really.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 19/08/2025 12:55

I think the all time low of twerkgate sealed their fate.

I don’t think he did gleefully cast aside his status because he didn’t think for one minute that he would lose his 24/7 security, his £2 million a year allowance etc . He thought he could flounce off and be Prince Harry in another country but the same status.
Idiot.

True. He thought he was getting rid of the 'royal rota', the restrictions on his wife's commercial activities and the having to shake hands with strangers in Preston. But not all of the many many perks he had never once had to think about.

I don't believe he ever got an allowance of £2 million a year though.

HarlotOTara · 19/08/2025 13:02

A lot of American troops were involved in the Pacific war so that is probably behind Harry’s posturing

He did, according to Duchy of Cornwall accounts. The Bank of Pa was still subbing them after they went to America.

But there's no record of that being an annual payment, is there?

In their flouncing off statement they said they no longer wished the Sovereign Grant however my understanding is that the SG only made up 5% of their income so it seems pretty clear that Harry assumed he would continue to receive money from Pa .

Previously articles about them in the tabloids would garner thousands of comments. They're largely ignored now.

My father served in the US Navy in the Pacific in WWII. I'm still not impressed.

With all the pedophilic, adulterous, tax dodging crap that this family are mired in and yet who lays a bloody wreath is the most important issue?

THIS. I am so tired of Harry being used as that family's scapegoat. This is a family who:

Get away with dangerous driving/causing near death by dangerous driving
Possible murder
A king and fake queen on the throne - don't even start me about those two freeloading nasty narcissistic excuses of humans
Sex offending - Andrew
Animal killing for sport
Various other infidelities

But yes let's pick on a guy who escaped it all to raise his own family away from the parasites (Queen Elizabeth being the exception). Imagine how Harry feels having to look at that excuse of a woman in his mother's place, a woman who died when he was 13.

This country's priorities and values are totally scew whiff!

Well there is only so much bitching you can do about 2 people and alot of it is regurgitating the same old comment
