It was awful both in itself and for the optics. It was Harry’s event and his charity. From what I understand, Meghan inserted herself by arriving with not only Serena W, but with a NF filming team in tow. This caused ructions with the venue who’d given Sentebale special charity rates for the day, and subsequently and understandably queried this on the basis that it was clearly a commercial enterprise on H & ‘s part unconnected with Sentebale itself.

Then for Meghan to a) insert herself on the stage and b) start telling the actual Sentebale line-up where to stand was outrageous.

But it was really just that that Sophie was jealous of Meghan, wasn’t it?

I must defend Meghan here , it was Harry who decided on the Netflix crew being present because of his polo program.
although her subsequent appearance with Serena and behaviour is all on her.

Again expecting a charity to bolster their commercail aims. Thats when it all escalated - "As Ever" PH flips into a narc rage, flounces and accuses when told 'No'. We've seen in before and we will see it again. I also note that MM never gets her hands dirty - she sends in the useful idiot to do her dirty work - why could she not talk to SC? Same at BP - she had PH running around telling everyone what M wants M gets. When is he going to wake up.

He may not wake up. Some men really not being at the beck and call of a woman. It's a puzzle.

Excellent post, Snobb, but for all the talk about Netflix's presence, Meghan barging in and the rest of it, does anyone seriously think Harry would have cared as long as he/they got what they wanted from the occasion?

It seems to me to have got to the point where no matter what he touches he leaves a trail of sh1t behind, and that's why I feel decent charities would do well to take a step backwards until he regains some control of himself

@notimagain He has, of course, diluted the income stream. It’s inevitable when your high profile patron flounces off.

The CC website says the charity “supports orphaned and vulnerable dc in Lesotho and elsewhere”. I certainly think they have been involved in Nigeria and it doesn’t mention aids.

I remember it being said on here that it was rather foolish of Meghan to push that woman out of the way on the polo podium. We assumed she didn’t know who she was and of course it turned out to be the formidable Sophie Chandauka.
And hasn’t THAT come back to bite her/them on the backside.

This blew up on social media, I think the mainstream media barely covered it. It was as clear as day what Meghan was doing, the evidence is all there for everyone to watch, yet Meghan wanted Sophie to outright lie and say it didn't happen like that, or however her and Harry wanted to spin Meghan's rudeness and belittling of Sophie Chandauka. Meghan did not want Harry nor Dr. Chandauka to be center of attention, she believes that is reserved for herself and only herself.

I think one of the reasons these two annoy me is that I’ve seen a couple of relationships like this in the past.

Im sure this isn’t news, but it boils down to:

shes very attractive
shes very sexy (a real ‘man’s woman’)
she’s spun him a load of utter tosh about her life and achievements which, been an under-achiever himself, have impressed him mightily
he thinks she’s clever and will makes a success of things for them
she has manipulated his emotions, and especially his feelings about his mother, to make him believe she’s a poor victim and needs rescuing and protecting (when in reality she’s as hard as tungsten)
Ergo, she cannot do wrong in his eyes and…
what Meghan wants, Meghan gets!

But the first 2 are paramount! 😄

I know a couple like this too. She is a bit older and really not very attractive but she absolutely dominates him. Neither of them have any friends either singly or jointly, or any hobbies. They never do anything at all separately. Now after forty plus years together they are retired and I honestly don’t know what they do all day.

Can I just share my thoughts about invictus?
It’s referred to as a charity - I didn’t question this
it does a lot for wounded veterans-I didn’t question this

but after looking into it and receiving information from all over the place .
its not really what we would call a charity is it?
the wounded veterans take part in the games, this obviously helps their self confidence and esteem but they have to pay for everything themselves! Did you know that?

I had no idea ! , so all the funds raised go towards paying for the venue , planning, pr and celebrity guests!
(not established but rumoured ) Harry’s attendance and fights and accommodations, Meghans wardrobe, flights and accommodation.
am I the only one slightly scandalised by this? I mean how is this a charity?
can anyone explain?

Yes I can think of a few couples like this. It’s not uncommon. I have a family member who fell out with her siblings because of her dh. They acted like it was them against the world and lived in their own little bubble. They also fell out with his sc. Known he’s gone, she has no friends or family to keep in touch with, only me.

I learned recently, Jeff, that this was the case. It seems harsh on the veterans. It’s one of the reasons why H&M’s participation needs very close scrutiny. Personally I think M should butt out (shes irrelevant to Invictus) and possibly - it’s controversial - very expensive.

Harry should jolly well pay his own way, as should any other royals and celebrities involved. They can afford it!

I didn’t know that! That’s awful. So H and M don’t pay to go and stay there but the wounded soldiers do?!

Presumably, then, that's why Invictus is a foundation, not a charity. I had read H&M make demands on Invictus for private jets, hotel suites and clothes, and was cross enough when I thought charity funds were being used. That veterans are paying is now at the top of my very long lists of ways in which they have damaged their reputation. This is not 'showing upn, doing good '.
