Back to PA’s possible paternity, even if you didn’t accept QE2’s Christianity or her devotion to her husband, she was raised in a world of inheritances. She would absolutely know to her very bones that you don’t play away until you gave an heir and a spare. Anne was not a proper spare, not if she hadn’t done reproducing yet. She would never have put an illegitimate child on the throne.

I am a , not quite wishy washy , constitutional monarchist - a bit in the way of "democracy is the worst form of government - apart from all the others. " But I am very much in favour of egregious behaviour being called out. When I see a better answer , I might support that. But until then I think the RF need to start making reforms. And I suspect they will. But as I have misquoted before "the mills of the RF grind slowly but they grind exceeding small" . The RF will never make a knee jerk reaction but I think PA Is a case study in how they could do things differently. & even just for PR let's see some stronger sanctions than just not holding HRH. Surely he could be stripped of Knight of the Garter so he can't turn up swathed in curtains - or does this take an Act of Parliament - sorry could google. Certainly think all stops should be pulled out to get him out of RL , there must be those who can point out where (if) he has broken his lease. I think I have read SF is renting out the house her daughters bought for her to cover costs on RL but again I may not be correct.

Reading the quote that mentions plebs - one of the boys at uni - we were 18 so technically adults but not really grown ups - had a Morgan. He loved to drive it around with the top down, shouting 'fuck the plebs'. His friends all thought it was hilariously funny. During the miners strike, in a very northern town which had the guts ripped out of it. It wasnt so much the lack of real world experience that was shocking, as the disdain for anyone not as privileged. And since it was not Oxford or Cambridge, we got a lot of the stupid ones - the ones too stupid to make it there even with extensive cramming but who could be coached into getting through an interview.

If your life is always sheltered and pampered, in order to have any idea of how lucky you are, you have to either have a very sensitive disposition (Charles and Edward) or someone who can exert a strong influence on you, like Diana was on her boys.

If that was Durham, there were still a fair percentage of similar types there a decade ago. Plenty of “you’d fuck a title, right?” And “play your cards right and there might be a pretty bracelet in it for you”.

It’s time Andrew and Sarah were removed to somewhere out of the way !
he needs to be removed from the LOS and counsellor of state positions.

@vera99interesting to see your post on Tina Brown at the Kite Festival in 2022 and her remark about how W&K’s relationship wasn’t all rosy. Whose is to be honest.
Before we learned of her illness there were a lot of rumours on that.
I hope William copped himself on and realised what he had.

I’ve heard similar things about Durham in recent years. A boy from the independent school I worked at left because HE couldn’t cope with the snobbery!

My son was at Cambridge and he (state comp) had no issues at all. I know this is just anecdotal but I’ve heard about the Hooray Henrys at Durham from a number of sources. Perhaps it’s just the usual unpleasant minority giving the place a bad name!

Gosh we agree - let's drink to that ! Mine's a Bloody Mary to remind ourslves of the blood stained line of sight to the Crown. One of my favourites moments in The Crown was QE2's imagined nightmare....

Now we live in a different era—if the papers had actual pictures that supported a particular narrative, they'd publish them. And if the British outlets didn’t, foreign sources would. That kind of content can't be suppressed anymore and you may not like it but that's where we are.
