I've never started a thread here before, but I thought some people might be interested in this take on the story by a PR podcast I listened to yesterday (started listening to this podcast as I know very little about PR!).

It would be good to know if any of the resident PR people agree.

Why can’t he be accompanied by his wife to see a dying family member?

The fact that Harry seemed to be ok about Meghan not going when he found out that Catherine wasn’t going would suggest that the motivation for Meghan going was not to pay her respects or support Harry

Where is she on record saying that about Meghan and her husbands funeral? Sorry it sounds made up but happy to be proven wrong.

Where is she on record saying she was fond of Meghan? Are you another one of those posters demanding evidence but not providing any yourself?

Quite! It was all about point scoring.

Ignore and carry on , the distractions lately have made this topic almost pointless, having to repeat the same information constantly.

Quite.

Why on earth, or on any other planet, would the fairly new wife of a grandchild, who had already kicked up the most almighty international stink about how awful the monarchy and the RF were, want to go to the deathbed of the Queen?

Why? Only for personal aggrandisement - to be able to give interviews, shed a little, tasteful tear, give speeches, maybe even get a photo, to dine out on in the future? I bet Netflix were pushing, too.

Horrible, horrible!

HonoriaBulstrode · 21/07/2025 11:19

Didn't Harry make William and the others still in London late?

From Spare, H also didn't initially answer his phone when W was trying to contact him to tell him what was happening.

Then a storm came over so they couldn't take off

Because of the weather, they couldn't take a helicopter from Aberdeen to Balmoral. They had to drive, which took much longer.

Philip called Meghan DW - Duchess of Windsor. He had the measure of her, as did the Queen. And she was extremely upset over them taking her nickname for their daughter. The final blow before her death was the knowledge that both a Netflix documentary series and Harry's book were coming out that year, and off the back of the Oprah interview, them accepting an award for tacking "institutional racism" within the RF, and them calling her legacy, the Commonwealth, Empire 2.0, she must have known those projects would contain nothing but pain for her family and heirs. Little did she know that Harry would look down at her dead body and think, I know, I'll put that in my book, and moan about my mother at the same time.

I don’t think you can take most of that as fact. There’s no doubt Meghan had/has a lot of detractors within the royal firm, who likely fed a lot of these stories to the tabloids thinking they were protecting the monarchy. I still don’t believe the Queen and Phillip themselves disliked Meghan. Both seemed of above average intelligence so probably had a lot of sympathy for her, as they saw what the press was doing to her.

more clapbacks and reverse ferreting apparently!
now sources close to Harry have denied what the previous sources close to Harry have said !
he’s not worried about being banned by William now.

HonoriaBulstrode · 21/07/2025 11:27

I remember seeing their plane arriving at Aberdeen and then them driving away on the news coverage. The weather was truly atrocious.

I cannot believe you are discounting what H & M did to the RF and the monarchy. It's as if it never happened for some fans, but it's there in print and video form for us all to see and read, for ever and ever, amen.

The personal betrayal by Harry and the exploitation of his insecurities and childish resentments by Meghan - all turned into a campaign of destruction towards KC, C, W and C, who were public figures and couldn't answer back or go away and hide.

I can well imagine what the late Q and PP thought of them, and it wouldn't be printable!

Hoolahoophop · 21/07/2025 11:32

When you are reminded about these actions it does feel like something major would have to happen before any member of the royal family would want to reconcile other than KC and only him because of a fathers love, and even then in Spare Harry swings between talking of his loving father:

"Evenings, I’d shout downstairs: Going to bed, Pa! He’d always shout back cheerfully: I’ll be there shortly, darling boy! True to his word, minutes later he’d be sitting on the edge of my bed. He never forgot that I didn’t like the dark, so he’d gently tickle my face until I fell asleep, I have the fondest memories of his hands on my cheeks, my forehead, then waking to find him gone, magically, the door always considerately left open a crack.”

And an anger at this cold and distant father who didn't provide the emotional support he needed adding to the victim status. The guy above would likely want to reconcile with his son. The one who financially cut him off as the crown is more important than family, who was cold, awkward, distant and didn't hug him less so.

Why is a difference of opinion known as 'distraction'? Surely those who have a different view can post on these royal threads? If not, maybe a disclaimer could be put in the thread title so we know to avoid them unless we are 100% negative against Meghan and harry and willing to post in an echo chamber.

I don’t know why you bother coffee , it’s pointless.

every post is the same… that thing you said isn’t true, where’s the proof, ( ignore or discount any proof) then promptly speculate on something as if it’s fact, with absolutely no proof at all .

Don't stop, Jeff! That's what they want!

They know they can't win the argument - the facts are against them - so they mess about, wasting time.

We need well-informed posters to stay and keep up the standard of discussion.

I know, Jeff.

But I have an over-developed sense of justice and I just cannot bear to see bullies and liars triumph. That's what matters to me - and also, it's sad to see (after a lifetime of teaching students to be aware of bias, to think and read critically and question the media) so many people who are prepared to be brainwashed and believe what they want to believe, and hang the facts.

Fact: Harry and Meghan called the RF racist and accepted an award for tackling institutional racism in the RF.

Fact: Harry and Meghan called the Commonwealth Empire 2.0.

Fact: They permitted the Oprah interview to be released while Prince Philip was dying.

Fact: It was publicly known that the Netflix doc and Spare were coming out in 2022. Fact: Spare was delayed to allow Harry to add passages about QEII's death. The Queen would have known as well as everyone else did, and could have guessed what was coming down the pike.

Fact: Harry wrote about looking at his grandmother's body in Spare and moaned about his mother. It's there in his won words.

Fact: According to royal biographer, Ingrid Seward, Prince Phillip called Meghan DoW. This claim has not been challenged.

Fact: According to royal biographer, Robert Hartman, the Queen was extremely upset when H&M called their daughter Lilibet. This claim has not been challenged. H&M's threats to sue the BBC at the time of the naming, when they reported that they had not sought the Queen's permission, and the BBC refusing to back down supports this. H&M did not sue.

Where are your facts/proof that the Queen was fond of Meghan?
