I've never started a thread here before, but I thought some people might be interested in this take on the story by a PR podcast I listened to yesterday (started listening to this podcast as I know very little about PR!).

It would be good to know if any of the resident PR people agree.

When It Hits The Fan: A Right Royal Whodunnit

When It Hits the Fan - A Right Royal Whodunnit - BBC Sounds

To be fair to TB, this claim is absolutely of a piece with H+M’s previous paranoid lies - we were in a car chase, it was near catastrophic, there’s an establishment stitch up, people want us to come to harm, it would be impossible for Archie to go to school in the UK, nobody is more hated than Meghan waah waah waah.

HiRen · 20/07/2025 13:20

Reading that article I feel a real disconnect between what seems to be clear looking at the facts, and where Harry’s head seems to be. He’s already persona non grata in royal circles - isn’t he? He’s already lost the privileges of his old status, hasn’t he? If you’ve written Spare and done that BBC interview and Oprah, and your dad isn’t even taking your calls, isn’t it delusional to still be holding out hope? Aren’t the facts speaking for themselves?

Ellmau · 20/07/2025 11:35

Well, this is just ridiculous: Prince Harry ‘seriously worried’ Prince William will cut him off from UK

"Literally banned" from the country? Come on, no one is taking his citizenship away, and he and his children can visit any time. They just might not get all the bells and whistles Prince Entitled wants.

Surely Harry isn't this stupid? I can't see a benefit to him saying this sort of thing publically. Does he not realise that he is basically Andrew, minus the sex crimes but sharing the entitlement and resultant unpopularity?

Ellmau · 20/07/2025 13:26

No, he thinks he's special because he's Diana's son.

NewAgeNewMe · 20/07/2025 13:52

I think it’s very sensible that the Waleses had three children, as there will be two ‘spares’ which may help avoid this type of situation.

Don't want to go over too much old ground here...but the reason for that was the still-current idea that Charles MUST marry a virgin. The poor chap had been told 'no' to at least 2 girlfriends he was really fond of because, shock horror, they had been found to have had a previous relationship (Davina Sheffield was one). And because his wife had to be a virgin, and had to be checked out as such, then clearly the only possibility was for him to marry a very young woman.

I think these factors definitely didn't bode well for that marriage. Times have definitely changed with the RF in this regard - thank goodness. I think, even by the time Andrew (sssssssss) married Fergie, things were much more realistic because Fergie had certainly had a life before Andrew.

Andrew was the spare too, so 'purity' in his bride wasn't seen as so important, presumably, especially as Diana had already produced the heir and the spare by the time Andrew married.

CoffeeCantata · 20/07/2025 14:14

@RandyRedHumpback

Then refusing to provide evidence for your assertion, whilst demanding evidence of every other poster for theirs.

Hmm - apparently a new tactic. It's not only irritating (which is what it's supposed to be) but absolutely ridiculous since most of the information which sources are demanded for has long been in the public domain and is basically common knowledge (er...to most reasonably well-informed people, that is).

Sometimes it's like asking for sources for the fact that Henry VIII had six wives, or that Queen Victoria liked Disraeli better than Gladstone. Sometimes you feel you're being FORCED into pigeon chess.

RandyRedHumpback · 20/07/2025 14:40

@CoffeeCantata I genuinely can't tell if they think we are as badly informed as they are, or if it's a game. If it's the latter, it backfires, because we then have to bring up all the stuff they'd rather we forget. Somewhat ironic in this particular case, of a poster complaining Diana is being criticised, then moaning when we point out all the reasons why Diana can be criticised.

It's really hard to decide! I don't know how sorry to feel for them...but some of them are unbelievably uninformed about current affairs.

Once the relevant hard evidence is there for them (as demanded) they usually do a runner..sigh..

Until the next one pops up, like a never ending game of Whack-A-Mole.

Or the same one pops up repeatedly with a name change and doesn’t understand if takes more than that to disguise yourself. 🙈

NormaMajors1992coat · 20/07/2025 14:58

There’s never any acknowledgement is there? I noticed that the other day - I said that the story about Meghan having a worse time than anyone else with online / media bullying didn’t really stack up, but nevertheless they repeat it over and over. Someone asked when was the last time it had been mentioned because they hadn’t seen it, in quite a snarky “oh yeah? WHERE ARE THE RECEIPTS” kind of way. So several people pointed out that Harry had described Meghan as the most trolled person in the world in a speech two weeks earlier. Links were provided.

Then.. nothing. No “oh thanks, I must have missed that” or “yeah, fair enough, I didn’t realise”, or heaven forbid “ok, I apologise, I was wrong about that”. They just scuttle off and then slither out again when they see an opportunity for some other tedious non-gotcha. Constantly simmering with aggression. It’s so boring.

PoppysAunt · 20/07/2025 11:38

Harry has no idea how things work, does he?
Literally no idea.

He doesn't understand the word "literally" either - which is unfortunate as he uses it quite a lot.

They are definitely playing to different rules!

The never acknowledge anything - neither saying thanks for answering their points/providing the requested info/links, nor admitting they might have been wrong...their last resort is a personal attack.
It's so childish, I can only conclude they must be young...but then, I have adult children and they know how to have a discussion or a reasoned argument - so I can't really blame it on youth and inexperience! They just so, so want to believe in their idols and all the myths and legends about them.

Oh well, enough said - but do they realise they stick out like a sore thumb?

He does. He really needs to focus on some proper self improvement.

No, I think part of the problem is that he really has no idea how he is perceived. And he's not listening to anyone who tries to point this out. You could see that in his dismissive 'some of my family will never forgive me for writing a book' statement. It wasn't Thomas the Tank Engine FGS. It was a horrible breaching of privacy and whining about his family and an extremely privileged upbringing.
And until he understands that (which will be never IMO), he won't understand why TRF are keeping him at arms' length.

Yes - he said that about the book as if he’d written The Old Man of Lochnagar or something!

Off topic ( slightly) but this just jogged my memory!!!
does everyone else remember posters excusing “spare “ because Sarah wrote a child’s book ( about helicopters I think?) and romance novels!!!!!🤣🤣🤣
because obviously that’s exactly the same!! 🤣🤣

CoffeeCantata · 20/07/2025 16:44

Oh, how I’d love to see Harry put under proper scrutiny in an interview about his ridiculous pronouncements. Actually - the thought has just occurred to me…I wonder if he’s even read Spare? Sounds bonkers, but I imagine his input would have been a series of rambling, self-indulgent interviews with the ghost writer, and it’s possible (he doesn’t strike me as a bookworm) that he may not be aware of what eventually went into the book.

Does anyone remember when Jordan (as Katie Price was then) was promoting her biography and she was interviewed on Woman’s Hour 😲? At that time publishers were more coy about admitting that ghost writers were involved and the pretence was very much that she had written it. But she said something like”…I don’t know if they’ve put that bit in?”, rather giving the game away on national radio!

Who knows? Maybe dimbo Harry really isn’t aware of how dreadful the revelations in his book are?

RandyRedHumpback · 20/07/2025 17:00

@CoffeeCantata Harry did the audiobook, unless it's AI. But who knows whether his fried brain is able to retain information, even his own words.

2024onwardsandup · 20/07/2025 17:02

I’m just rewatching the Harry and Meghan doc on Netflix again - it’s fascinating in light of what’s happened

they genuinely thought they were better than the institution and history of the royal family - and would be welcomed back as its leaders I think

its amazing to watch

(also the blatantly political affiliations of it - some kf
tbe talking heads are really eyebrow raising political activities. Also….Tyler Perry….

2024onwardsandup · 20/07/2025 17:03

Also - i would say 95% of their child care is Nannie’s I would say

He read it, he consented to it, he spoke about it on chat shows.

Also - their life in montecito would have been blissful if they’d just withdrawn

Oh dear - then just what goes on, I wonder, between that man’s ears?!

I’ve just been catching up with the Channel 5 Lip Reading the Royals and there’s a clip from the Coronation where a clearly distressed Harry is moaning to Eugenie that “I’ve been sitting in my Dad’s office for 5 hours and neither he nor William have even sent a text”. So…this is on the morning of the event, when both these people would have been fully occupied with preparations, as well as the little matter of the NF doc, the OW interview and the publication of Spare…and he’s surprised??!

There is truly a problem with his perception, empathy and emotional intelligence - joking apart.
