I don't think Catherine has anything to worry about from the odd member of the Sussex Squad at Wimbledon. Remember when someone fired a starting pistol at the late Queen during Trooping the Colour? He was disarmed by the crowd before the police could reach him. I'm pretty sure Catherine would engender the same protective response if anything unpleasant was shouted at her personally. (The Not my King stuff is different, that's general and, with apologies to any republicans, a little bit silly.)

Vespanest · 15/07/2025 15:41

I am impressed with what was achieved this week, the palace has been played and the media have done their part. But just as William has been called indifferent with feelings to Harry I also think most of the audience that Harry would target are also indifferent or negative. The biggest problem is they played the game too far that people have seen through it. Harry and to some extent Meghan are reliant on large PR pushes but any gains remain short term. At least Meghans are in financial pursuit. I have no idea of Harry's end game but I feel it's going to be termed an era of service. I can see charities paying expenses but I hope no one is providing a wage.

Catherine has obviously already been affected hugely by the bullying and harassment of the Sussex squad. The Mother’s Day photo that was picked apart by them until the kill notice was issued. The conspiracy theories leading to her making appearances and announcements maybe before she was ready to, to put a stop to the Where’s Kate campaign that they started and went viral. They and the threat they pose are not to be underestimated.

MummyJ12 · 15/07/2025 15:44

My question is that how does someone get a seat at the men’s Wimbledon final when they can’t even afford their own television?

MummyJ12 · 15/07/2025 15:48

In my opinion, it’s not a case of a Sussex squad member simply shouting out.
It’s a sly photo or video that can be shared that looks like something it isn’t. To make Catherine look like she put a foot wrong when she didn’t. They will spin anything. Hence the sly photo of Camilla.
This member of the squad could have been there to try and capture a moment to further harass and bully.

Weepixie · 15/07/2025 15:50

@MummyJ12 I suspect it was crowd funded amongst squaddies. I’d like to know if each ticket has a pre-assigned seat number because if not what were the chances of her being sat so close to CT.

Towards the end of the match someone let out 2 ear piercing screams of support for one of the players and I’m wondering if it was this person. In her reply to a post made by the squaddie , CT mentioned that she had disturbed those around her with her drunken behaviour and I think she also mentioned screaming.

ETA - your last post is very interesting and probably spot on.

MummyJ12 · 15/07/2025 15:54

That’s a really good point @Weepixie.
Almost as though she was trying to get a reaction….can you imagine Catherine or William looking over confused, they could spin that as them looking over angrily. Or if they looked at each other in a manner that could be thought of as “these two can’t stand each other”. It’s just more ammunition for them, that’s what they want and that’s what is super scary.

The pictures of Catherine and William on Celebitchy (SS Central Command) are always the most unflattering and miserable they can find. I’ve sometimes wondered where they get them from - they’re not the sort of things the press would use. I’m wondering, from what you say, whether they do sometimes take their own.

They use them to prove that W and C hate each other, among other kind things.

MummyJ12 · 15/07/2025 16:00

Exactly @CoffeeCantata

They've been nothing but trouble in the past. And they will be nothing but trouble in the future. They need to be kept at arms length and not trusted an inch.

What I find hard to get my head around is that neither of them seem able to do anything without it being a massive drama. Some of the drama is the media whipping up small details into big suppositions but it starts either them playing games.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/07/2025 16:23

Apparently it's only debenture holders who can pick their seats, @Weepixie; those whose names get pulled in the public ballot or from the queue get allocated the "best ones available"

So it seems it could have been a genuine coincidence that the crude SS person found themselves behhind Tominey ... after all everyone's got to sit somewhere and I doubt she was the only journo present

Wundy · 15/07/2025 16:28

Their itinerary suggests that the couple - Harry in particular - are launching a new charm offensive on the UK in a bid to turn around their negative public image.

The words "Harry" and "charm offensive" do not belong in the same sentence.

angelinawasrobbed · 15/07/2025 16:33

Well, ‘Harry’ and ‘charm’ anyway

I think it probably was a coincidence that she was sat behind CT. but I think the squaddie was definitely there to cause mischief.
Interestingly, the debenture tickets are the only tickets that can be legally resold but they cost an absolute fortune. They are usually very good seats though for the reason that you can pick the best seats available.

Hah! Very true :).

Vespanest · 15/07/2025 16:59

having a quick look on Twitter and rainbow sprinkles gets more attention than Harry from supporters. I'm just not seeing his support. I'd go as far to say he's overshadowed his own trip.

milveycrohn · 15/07/2025 17:20

I don't think Harry would want to be what is termed a 'working' royal, and he would probably not be accepted either. That is, representing the crown at official events.
Reconciliation is perhaps possible at the family level, but I strongly doubt that Meghan would vist UK herself, or allow the children to visit, so unless Charles holds zoom meetings, or flies to the US, building a relationship with his grandchildren is unlikely. Rumour is that this could be about releasing some of his inheritance, but I thought he got that anyway, being over 40?

HonoriaBulstrode · 15/07/2025 17:57

The Not my King stuff is different, that's general and, with apologies to any republicans, a little bit silly.

The one who tried it outside St Giles' Cathedral when the late Queen was about to arrive for her lying in state was fairly swiftly dealt with by the crowd.

They have a right to demonstrate, but there is a time and place, and that wasn't it.

I’d say the Sussex fans would choose Meghan over Harry if push came to shove.

And that’s quite a sinister thought. If they ever split I think the SS would pursue him like a bunch of demonic harpies. I wonder if Harry ever worries about this?

Weepixie · 15/07/2025 19:05

when I read the comment above that says when push comes to shove my first thoughts were Harry might just find himself on the receiving end of a push and a shove from them one day.

jeffgoldblum · 15/07/2025 19:21

I think Harry might discover the true meaning of the phrase “ hell hath no fury , like a woman scorned!”

A tactic both Celebitchy and Meghan’s supporters on twitter use, and always amuses me: they use a photo when William Kate are standing still and looking serious as the national anthem is played. “Look” they chorus, “they clearly hate having to be in proximity to each other!”. So transparent it’s funny. 🤣

Vespanest · 15/07/2025 20:23

I started on this thread believing that Harry is not well, he maybe lacking purpose, isolated and/or he's broke. To be on page 33 and now at the conclusion he's just off his rocker. His messaging is all over the place, I have no idea what he wants, I doubt his PR team are any the wiser. Apparently this is the start of a charm offensive and reconciliation. I'm hoping that someone warns him not to use Diana as the charm offensive or the Diana documentary that been hinted at, it will not go down well.

It’s fascinating. I can just about imagine that some of the more sheep-like readers are taken in, but the perpetrators must be aware this is a ridiculous misrepresentation.

I can only assume it’s a kind of cultish mass-delusion where people willingly consent to be misled because it soothes them and confirms their view of the world.

Oh my, there’s going to be a psychology PhD or two out of all this one of these days!
