I don’t really like the (I think, American in origin?) use of the word ‘class’, or ‘classy’ to describe courteous or well-bred behaviour. It implies only people of a certain social class can be expected to behave well…
But! I find it impossible not to use those terms with reference to Meghan and Catherine. Cliched though it sounds, Catherine just exudes class in her public duties. She never tries to dominate or push herself forward and makes sure that attention is focused on others. Her demeanour at Wimbledon, for eg, where the SS have tried to claim she ‘makes it all about her’, couldn’t be more modest and self-effacing - even shy. As she enters Centre Court it’s clear she’s slightly embarrassed by the adulation.
Compare and contrast with Meghan, whose Wimbledon conduct was rude, crass, self-aggrandising and frankly, vulgar.
I don’t know how the SS manage to twist reality to fit their creed in view of this kind of behaviour.
