They actually think our Head of State should run his diary past them for approval? Honestly why do the Palace even entertain them, it’s beyond a joke now.

I'm guessing the want parity with William and Catherine, that's usually what's all about. Maybe a clause on bagsy everything Diana.

Did they though? , remember this has all come out from one direction, we have no idea what the meeting was actually about, as far as we know Harry could have asked for a carrot on a stick , and was given a resounding “ bugger off! “

bluegreygreen · 14/07/2025 17:37

Let's coordinate diaries to avoid clashes.

Errr...no!

Also, I noted the point that "Harry would like more direct updates on his father’s cancer treatment" - what, so that he can talk about it in a BBC interview?

I do wonder if Charles might cave into their demands, at his peril mind you.

Jeff, I will be camped out on the Mall protesting if they let that horrible little ferret back in the RF.

I will definitely have to write to KC about it.

I’m not one for direct action!
but I will be with you and supply the chairs and chains! ⛓️

Yes, in 2019, a Serena Williams match. She and her friends had all the seats around them cleared. Members of the public were being told not to take photos (even when they weren't taking photos of her). The Wimbledon official who dealt with her told the Times she was a nightmare. It was widely reported at the time.

All to make the point that she’s Terribly Important Don’t You Know.

A.N. WILSON: William and Kate would probably be glad to never see Harry and Meghan again. But this is why they must make peace with the Sussexes... and the disastrous consequences I foresee if they do not

I’ve just seen this headline in the mail, can’t read it as I don’t subscribe but seriously?? Why on earth should they? It’s like being forced to stay with an abusive partner “to keep the peace” bullying of William and Catherine by the media again. There is definitely a campaign running to get them back.

jeffgoldblum · 14/07/2025 17:48

On a serious note though , we only know what Harry says he wants , that doesn’t mean he will get it !
I can’t see Charles letting him come back in any official capacity, privately as a family? Perhaps.

but this goes beyond the insults to the royal family, Harry and Meghan also insulted us ! , the whole of the U.K. and the commonwealth!
I cannot imagine the government allowing it or Charles being so blind to public opinion.

Profhilodisaster · 14/07/2025 17:49

There also needs to be more openness between London and California about the timings of events and an end to the ambushing of announcements

Utterly ridiculous! People all over the internet, predict when H&M will make yet another announcement based on Wimbledon, state visits, birthdays etc . Hopefully the meeting was to tell them to stop being dicks .

MummyJ12 · 14/07/2025 17:50

Absolutely @jeffgoldblum and Charles can’t be in any doubt about the strength of public feeling and opinion after this.

Profhilodisaster · 14/07/2025 17:52

Charles must discuss this with William surely? I just can't see William agreeing to have them anywhere near Catherine.

Weepixie · 14/07/2025 17:52

I’ve read that article again and it could have been put together from points covered here as well as living rooms and coffee shops up and down the country. There’s nothing in it that couldn’t have been said, put together, by a clued up member of the general public with an interest in this saga and attributing it to sources in the States is nothing but journalistic nonsense and sensationalism.

Not2identifying · 14/07/2025 17:53

I have some sympathy with Harry wanting to know more about Charles's cancer. I think that on some level he does love Charles in the same way that a tantrumming toddler does still want their parent. But Charles would be bonkers for sharing such personal information with somebody so indiscreet.

Harry is a man-sized toddler and has to be treated accordingly.

Vespanest · 14/07/2025 17:57

Surely Charles advisors would be warning him of the risks of what he is doing. Charles was the heir to a popular monarch. William is a popular heir to an average liked monarch. The Queen and the monarchy survived the Diana versus Charles due to the Queen. At present any attacks on the Wales seems to have the reverse impact of making them more popular. But that doesn't negate the mental health impact. I'm not sure how this monarch could sustain the fall out if Catherine is trod upon so Charles can have a relationship with his son.

HiRen · 14/07/2025 17:58

I’m amazed, again, at the size of the ego on these two 😂. I don’t think Harry is clever enough to think up such a thing himself. He has always gone whichever way the wind blew, always having had people there to pick up the pieces. He possibly never even knew what marks he’d missed, what he was missing out on - known unknowns and unknown unknowns etc.

Now he’s out of his family and the royal family, he’s incapable of making sense of things or even knowing which way is forward, so he’s replaced the men in grey with Meghan. She’s all he has, after all. The “collaborate with” would never have come from Harry acting alone. It’s utterly out of character, and not how he was raised (and his upbringing is so ingrained he still doesn’t even know that there are other ways that might be applicable to him - big difference from how we’ve seen the Wales children being raised, so far).

This latest shit is more of the same, also from Meghan. Harry never knew what it took to be the monarch, or the monarch in waiting. It was kept from him, and/because it was beyond his intellect. So he has nothing to communicate to Meghan about what goes on in terms of running The Firm. So she’s filling in the gaps for herself. This is why she still thinks there’s a negotiation to be had, one that she can be in the driving seat of.

The monarchy can bend. But nobody dictates. Nobody collaborates or shares. Parliament, the government, ministers, the church, the military, the media - they all have their parts to play in a carefully orchestrated game. Each has eminence in a limited realm, they all have to work with each other.

Harry and Meghan figure precisely nowhere in this game 😂. They can’t even get their press releases/leaks right fgs - they know trust is a two way street but they’re the ones speaking to the tabloids 😂. They’re so outplayed it’s absolutely cringeworthy now.

jeffgoldblum · 14/07/2025 17:59

My personal opinion ( others are available!) these articles are purely a fishing expedition, to gauge public sentiment.
and I would bet that as there is an upcoming trial involving the dm that they are simply playing nice by putting out these stories for Harry , then at the trial they can say they were impartial, not attacking him constantly etc ….

Profhilodisaster · 14/07/2025 18:03

All that needs to happen is for Harry to be in touch with his father, by phone or the odd in person meeting if he's in the uk . William and Catherine could be kept out of it.
Harry has said he will not bring his family to the UK without the level of security that he wants and will not get. He would have some nerve to bring M and the children over to attend any state occasion (where they will be protected) and I doubt M would risk coming in case they are booed..

But with lawyers or trusted advisers in on the call. I don’t think KC should trust Harry with a one-to-one conversation.

AN Wilson is a notorious contrarian. I admire his novels and some non-fiction but his journalism is usually just a silly attempt to stir things and go against the tide.
