The royal family

Opinions may Vary . A genuine question about why Meghan and Harry seem to attract such differing views.

I post this more in hope than experience but I would be really interested in a proper discussion about those who are fans or supporters of them , those who aren't and indeed ( of which there are many ) , those who are indifferent.

So - I'll start. There was an interesting post on another thread which said M&H come over as David and Goliath , standing up against "the Institution" - my paraphrase.

No spitting , no fighting , mind the furniture 😂

Really?

There is criticism on here now! Saying her treatment of him was awful and she treats human beings as disposable objects to further her goals. So, I don't understand your post.

She was quite within her rights not to be friends with him.

No. I did not say that. Please read my post.
This is about freedom of the press. I never said that she should be friends with him.
I said that I don't understand why her fans think that she alone should never have criticism.

jeffgoldblum · 05/07/2025 15:39

I’m sorry but where is your proof for this statement?
she approached him and wanted him to make her visibility bigger in the U.K. , which is what he did .
and I will add !
this narrative arrived after the event!
she didn’t cut contact ( ghost him) until after she was fully enmeshed with Harry .

Disbelieve me if you so wish, doesn't worry me. I have an opinion, you have an opinion.

I saw the huge amount of tweets. Until he deleted them. I am unable to show you them

I don't think that or said that! Of course she can be criticised, anyone can be criticised.

NewAgeNewMe · 05/07/2025 15:44

I don’t blame Meghan for ghosting her family or Piers Morgan. I do think her behaviour towards the royals is reprehensible. But it’s Harry’s family and I blame him more.

jeffgoldblum · 05/07/2025 15:44

MadeInGrimsby · 05/07/2025 15:38

Thanks for that, @jeffgoldblum . Very illuminating.

Yes ! Apparently complaints about big brother wasn’t that far behind!

Good! We agree! Many of her fans seem to think she should have some sort of special status. Weird.

Regardless of the individuals involved, casting doubt on someone's statement about their mental health is not something should be encouraged. There are enough people out there who think people with depression need only go for a walk in a wood to be fine or who think someone saying they are suicidal should be ignored. I would have liked to see Piers reprimanded for his public statement, whoever it was about.

She is welcome to be friends or ghost anyone she likes , she is not however immune from criticism of her behaviour!
and taken in isolation no one would feel her behaviour to pm and her family is an issue, but now we see that this is actually on ongoing and consistent pattern of behaviour to many of her so called friends.

as the saying goes…. If you meet one or two assholes , then they are probably the issue, if everyone you meet is an asshole , then chances are you are the problem.

I totally agree. I found it quite distasteful to be honest. And it would have been very upsetting for a lot of people struggling with their mental health and thinking no one would believe them.

MadeInGrimsby · 05/07/2025 16:04

Absolutely. I think Piers Morgan should certainly have been reprimanded, maybe lost his job, but because of what he said, not who he said it about.
It's not right that the Sussexes are trying to stop criticism of themselves.

I found the entire Oprah interview to be distasteful !
full of lies and half truths.
where is the concern for the mental health of those who were tarred with the lies and false accusations?

MadeInGrimsby · 05/07/2025 16:07

None, @jeffgoldblum . No concern for the mental health of those smeared with vile accusations.
Such hypocrisy.

Thedom · 05/07/2025 16:08

CurlewKate · 05/07/2025 13:54

To be honest, I think Morgan “lost” his breakfast show because he was being an arse, rather than because M&H complained about him….

Piers was famous for being an arse, that’s not why he lost his job, he lost his job because Meghan complained to his boss about comments he made about her on his show. He has since been proven correct about her being a liar.

It didn’t work when Harry tried to stop the episode of South Park !

Exactly!!
all this concern only flows one way!
and I’m sorry to say it but if you tell so many lies , the fact of life is that people are simply not going to believe anything you say anymore!

or have we forgotten about the boy who cried wolf?

Yes, that's the issue.

CurlewKate · 05/07/2025 14:57

it’s not a case of “others do it too” so much as it seems to be worse if Meghan does it!

According to Harry the RF don’t do it, wasn’t that one of his complaints, the RF would not intervene with the media on their behalf. It is obvious the RF don’t do,it, never more so than when Catherine was being annihilated in the media and on SM, before her illness was announced publicly.

However we know Meghan and Harry do it.

MadeInGrimsby · 05/07/2025 16:25

Yes, @Thedom - Harry has never respected press freedom or the fact that his father and grandmother would not interfere with that. He was very angry that they wouldn't tell the press to stop printing stories.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/07/2025 16:25

NormaMajors1992coat · 05/07/2025 10:46

But I don’t really understand how they come to that conclusion - the book was called ‘Finding Freedom’ wasn’t it? Not ‘Getting Chucked Out Against Our Wishes’. The 2020 statement they themselves issued says “we have chosen”, “we intend”, “we now plan”, “we feel prepared to make this adjustment”, “after many months of reflection”. Very clearly their decision.

There's never been any doubt that leaving was their decision (well, Meghan's anyway ...) but the victim narrative involves claiming they had no choice because Meghan was "nearly driven to suicide" and all the rest

And opinions will also vary on the truth of all this

Vespanest · 05/07/2025 16:40

One of the main reason not to complain when the media prints lies/exaggerations is it leaves you no where to go when they print the truth. Why hasn't the dragon slayer took on vanity fair. Instead of sending out staff to sing their praises why not call the sources liars.

MadeInGrimsby · 05/07/2025 16:43

I think that's the problem @Vespanest . They've never sued Tom Bower, for example. When they don't complain, it's obviously because it's the truth.

MadeInGrimsby · 05/07/2025 16:45

😂

Thedom · 05/07/2025 16:45

They were stepping down from being working Royals, believing they could do half in/half out.

They did not want to leave the prestige of the RF, they made that clear in their original announcement, they announced they would become non working Royals who would now ‘collaborate’ with the Queen and they would retain their Royal status for state funded security provisions.

Harry said he was shocked when he was told the half in and half out route was not an option.
