The royal family

Opinions may Vary . A genuine question about why Meghan and Harry seem to attract such differing views.

I post this more in hope than experience but I would be really interested in a proper discussion about those who are fans or supporters of them , those who aren't and indeed ( of which there are many ) , those who are indifferent.

So - I'll start. There was an interesting post on another thread which said M&H come over as David and Goliath , standing up against "the Institution" - my paraphrase.

No spitting , no fighting , mind the furniture 😂

Fair enough. Unfortunately I once clicked on Dan Wootten interviewing the Sibley Twins and I now can't get away from him! Granted it is his job and Harry was vile about him, but he is a bit too sensational about it.

DW is dreadful, and let’s not forget he hated William and is the origin of the affair rumour. He also hates the royal rota as he believes they looked down on him as a mere gossip columnist. Most of his content is clickbait. However, his experience with the coordinated attack on him from Byline Times and the SS is an interesting, illuminating read.

MadeInGrimsby · 05/07/2025 14:09

Right. So Jane Williams from Wigan complaining has the same impact as a world famous royal?.
Mmm. I think not.

No, of course not. But M didn’t just say “Off with his head” and lo, his head was off. He was put out because she ghosted him, and used his platform to say increasingly unpleasant things that even his colleagues challenged him on.

MadeInGrimsby · 05/07/2025 14:21

If you have a free press, there are going to be people like Wooten and Morgan. I would prefer that to the idea of entitled celebrity royals thinking they have the right to shut them down.

I thought it was Giles Conron who started the William/ Rose rumour after socialising with H and M in Soho House ?

Thank you for this. The bit about a 15 year old saving to buy jam makes me feel a bit quesy - I really really hope no 15 year olds are wasting their money and it's all a delusion.

Lainey was a mega fan, she clearly isn't now. I wonder what changed?

Interesting, we haven't heard from Omid in a while either.

She was courting girls younger than this in her Tig days and arranging meet ups on SM. The same young women turned up to her WLM launch in NY. Courting young fans is not a new thing for her and it is uncomfortable. But H&M’s focus is on the young and SM - it’s part of their censorship agenda. Targeting the young is a key component to all the SJ movements we have seen over the last decade and beyond.

Yes, I'd read that the rumour was invented by Giles Coren and he later said so.

So the free press means you can say anything about anyone? Right….

It originated with DW’s “Turnip Toffs fall out” article in the Sun, that got people talking on SM about a possible affair. Hadley Freeman asked on Twitter what it was about and if there was any truth in it. Giles Coren responded with his now infamous tweet. You are correct that he had been at the Soho House opening (in Amsterdam I believe) shortly before he tweeted it. Yes Harry and a pregnant Meghan were there too, with Marcus A.

No, because in our society there have to be checks and balances on what is said and written. However, it certainly doesn't mean that some arrogant, privileged celebrity - royal can ring up and demand someone's head.

Just googled. So, apparently did 41000 other people-mostly about his stance on mental health. And his colleague challenged him on live TV and he stormed out. Not sure M is entirely to blame for him quitting his job!

You are aware that people phone up in their thousands to complain about programs every day ?
very rarely does the bbc or itv or channel 4 ever acknowledge or do anything about it .
the difference on this occasion was that a royal complained which is something that rarely happens.

This x 💯.
That's the power of the Sussexes, and they abuse it for their own gain.

Indeed!
and I suppose it was purely a coincidence that Sharon Osborn also got the boot for publicly supporting him and saying that he wasn’t racist!

Absolutely! There's a pattern here. A nasty, arrogant, controlling pattern.

CurlewKate · 05/07/2025 14:41

Don’t know anything about Sharon Osbourne. And if you think other members of the RF have not put pressure on the media in the past then you’re incredibly naive!

MadeInGrimsby · 05/07/2025 14:45

So, just because we know for certain that Harry and Meghan are intolerant of criticism and seek to control media outlets, it figures that members of the Royal Family do the same?
Blimey, Charles and Camilla must have been on the phone a lot, and to no avail, bearing in mind the negative press they got! 😂

Very true and with hindsight we see a pattern of behaviour!
now I will say that I personally don’t particularly like piers Morgan, he is for me a typical example of “those “ sorts of men.

but here we need to revisit what actually happened, Meghan slipped into his DMs , befriended him , flattered him , all with the hope he would assist in her profile and goals in the U.K. .
she started dating Harry ( who dislikes Morgan) , Morgan let’s remember was their ( especially hers) biggest cheerleader in the beginning.
then she completely ghosts him for apparently no reason ( some reports say this was because Harry insisted, we don’t know if that’s true?) .
now like him or not , this is nasty behaviour, she got what she wanted and he was cast aside!

and I’m of the opinion that he probably knows more about her character now than us casual observers .

Come now!
are we still using the “ other people did it too !” Defence?
as my mother once said ( and many other parents probably have too ) , if he jumped off a bridge, would you do that too?

I’m assuming (without any evidence but it seems to be common sense) that she would have been told to fetch herself from Piers Morgan PDQ.

Yes, it's just so juvenile. Harry and Meghan despise the free press and seek to control what is said about them. I find it improbable that others in the RF have the time or the inclination to be so controlling and obsessive!

He was ambushed by a weatherboy looking to build his career and refused to engage with him on air

This is an article from the Mail and whether the connection between Meghan and Imogen predated the comments from Alex Beresford is anyone’s guess.

Well yes !
why is everything so murky with this pair?

Fetch herself?
what does that mean?

Fortydegreeze · 05/07/2025 14:55

I think the RF stance on Harry and Meghan is perfect. Ignore, don’t comment, don’t engage. Don’t invite to anything as it will only be used to monetise, create narcissistic fuel. Don’t criticise as it will be used as a narcissistic pit play.

it’s not a case of “others do it too” so much as it seems to be worse if Meghan does it!
