The royal family

Opinions may Vary . A genuine question about why Meghan and Harry seem to attract such differing views.

I post this more in hope than experience but I would be really interested in a proper discussion about those who are fans or supporters of them , those who aren't and indeed ( of which there are many ) , those who are indifferent.

So - I'll start. There was an interesting post on another thread which said M&H come over as David and Goliath , standing up against "the Institution" - my paraphrase.

No spitting , no fighting , mind the furniture 😂

Imagine how Catherine feels every time there is an article about Emma Sayle . Headline is always along the lines of Kate Middleton’s friend who organises sex parties !

jeffgoldblum · 04/07/2025 17:55

CurlewKate · 04/07/2025 17:43

Of course they are. I have said that many times. Althoygh it is a little naive to think the Mail didn’t choose M as their avocado eater, rather than a more popular royal.

Do you honestly believe that anyone outside of Meghans easily offended fanbase , gave even the slightest thought or concern about her eating an avocado 🥑?

because I can tell you that nobody here ( now ) gives a stuff about it , it was just the usual rubbish headline that most people scroll past.

How weird to be fans because of clickbait 😂
Do they have no judgement at all?!

How weird to continuously criticise a couple that in all honesty you know nothing about.

• Just dubious news and articles gleaned from a hawkish "media"

• SPARE which was written by someone recovering from a breakdown

• Just heresay from people who have met or known them.

Some people have no judgement at all!

CurlewKate · 04/07/2025 17:51

Well, I did kind of start this hare running with my David and Goliath theory! But even the most dedicated anti Meghan person has to admit that she did get some absolutely vile press. Which, looked at from abroad would definitely fuel the victim idea.

Please give an example of the vile press she received.

No indeed. I personally rely on what people have said and written themselves. I don't rely on "the media" (sic).
My opinion comes from what Meghan and Harry have said personally, in articles, books or in interviews.
So directly from themselves.

"absolutely vile press", eh, not sure about that. Some nasty stuff yes, but 'absolutely vile' is a tad melodramatic.

And I also don't get the 'looked at from abroad' thing. Firstly, because folks 'abroad' are no less intelligent than here. Secondly, because why would people 'abroad' care so much about what the tabs are saying about a member of a foreign royal family? Why all this interest in tabloid clickbait?

Whilst both suffering with mental iII health.
Good on you....

@Petitchat That obviously hit home!

I do feel sorry for those teenagers, who are now grown women, who were live bombed and encourage by Meghan to feed her vanity and self importance and then weaponised to rally to her side against the royal family. It has all the hall marks of cult mind control;

  • charismatic leader with very few explainable values, just a sense of being right and moral superior.
  • group think
  • thought stopping cliches
  • disinformation
The selling out of the As Ever stuff is a prime example. She is milking her fans for money and hype and is so gross to watch because people are lapping it up and praising her but all she wants is their money. It’s so manipulative.

We know plenty about them. They have not stopped talking about themselves through one media vehicle or other these last 5 years. Most of what is discussed is straight from the horse’s mouth. They place a plethora of articles in tabloid media every month. We know they are the source of People magazine because they accidentally let slip that Harry emails them. Other things can only logically have come from them, eg, much of Omid Scobie’s content. Hearsay from named people on the record is extremely reliable when those sources are reliable. On the other hand, Harry and Meghan are proven liars who can’t tell a consistent story to save their lives, as has been proven time and time again.

Yes, that's right, I only judge them on what they have said themselves, or done themselves.
I'm not going to listen to malicious gossip.

Vespanest · 04/07/2025 18:09

One of the problems with the clickbait is it was immediately jumped upon as unfair treatment compared to Catherine. By the time Meghan had joined the family Catherine had already been built up, knocked down and built up again (probably more than once). As the married in women before her. Had people compared in the equivalent time scales it's a pretty different story. But that never suited the narrative, with even Meghan diminishing Catherine reality with the waity Katie to a US audience. I'd rather have the somehow linked to an avocado story, the the sunbathing intrusion, the hacking and the Waity Katie.

Bontonbonbon · 04/07/2025 18:10

I mean the squaddies over on Reddit are still trolling a woman recovering from cancer because she’s attending a tennis match but didn’t go to a horse race.

Lowest of the low. But apparently criticising Meghan for making horrible hints that a member of the royal family was a racist and telling lies about their wedding service is bad 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is the kind of backwards loop think you can only get in a cult.

So you believe people suffering from mental health problems should be above reproach for all their behaviour?
and his family and the entire population should just put up with damaging lies because of mental health issues.

what about the mental health of the victims of these false allegations and bullying, does m and h trump them because they are more rich , more royal , more famous?

RandyRedHumpback · 04/07/2025 18:16

What are Meghan Markle’s mental health issues @Petitchat ?

As did my comment obviously 🤣

Continue to cackle on with your cauldrons of pettiness and victimising.

Because apparantly the fans are mostly not from Britain. And they probably won’t actually read the articles-they’ll see bits of it on SM.

Oh Catherine was definitely in knock back down mode when Meghan came along. She was boring and frumpy compared to the breath of fresh air from America. They even admit that in one of their many contradictory complaints in the Netflix doc - that Meghan was so popular with the press that she was knocking the established royals off the front pages. So much for the press hating her. 🙄

Bontonbonbon · 04/07/2025 18:25

Hmm, pettiness and victimising are definitely squad faves.

Tell me again how the people trolling a cancer patient with small children are the heroes here.

Anyone who engaged in the Where’s Kate bullying and the current resurgence in cruel comments about her health and work diary is not a good person.

I feel sad that anyone could get to that point and still see themselves as morally justified. The root of evil really.

Vespanest · 04/07/2025 18:25

Never sure how Harry is not the villain in Meghans suicide ideation and how Catherine somehow got dragged into it will always be a mystery.

Why "looked at from abroad"?
Do you think people from outside the UK have no critical thinking? Can't understand clickbait?

Looked at from abroad because that is, apparently, where the fan base is. And I think the extremists of both camps have no critical thinking skills at all!

Extiainoiapeial · 04/07/2025 14:55

I agree. I had a knee injury once and really could not have managed that back then, maybe I could now, I'll have a practice (no, not really, just joking 😂)

This one is ridiculous!

As a pp said - the deep curtesy and the short dress do not work together!😲

I have a theory about the deep curtsey thing. It's all older women doing it so I wonder if at a certain point their knees give way and they do lower than they intend.

Well you could be right. I know that if I tried to curtsey my knees would never straighten up again and I would end up on the floor.😁

Or it's a hangover from older days when it was expected? Things move on or we could just be ageist and add on a few other things like - no I won't. 🙄
