As per the DM, we are told Meg is using Fairwinds Estate winery for her rose. Sounds nice.
But a Reddit user has discovered, that Fairwinds winery is just a brand under the umbrella of Wine gift shop. They do corporate gifts and print on demand. Oh Meg, as ever

Well you can equally say people would much prefer those who just admit they hate her and love to bitch and gossip about her instead of those hiding behind the its just criticism line. 💁‍♀️

I dont hate her, I don't know her to have strong a level of emotion towards her.

I talk about her in the same way I talk about the Kardashians or any other celeb that constantly crosses my SM. H&M are public figures - they have deliberately made themselves such. They invite comment and debate by their very public actions.

If they didn't want public comment they shouldn't do public speeches, TV series, podcasts, interviews, shopmy pages, public IG posts etc etc etc (all this within just the past few weeks).

Anyway . As @CurlewKate isn’t answering may I ask you what it is that you admire / like about Meghan ? Genuine question as I struggle to see anything likeable .

I actually wonder how ironically many of these passionate devotees actually damage Meghan’s prospects in the long run. When brands and individuals have had minor run-ins with her (sometimes just an interview or anything less than gushing praise) there have been instances of online abuse, poor google reviews etc. Those who have had their fingers burned in the past have either seemed to try to smooth it over (like gwyneths pie video), grey rock (like the RF) or stand up to it and refuse to fawn (like Sophie the chair of sentebale) with varying results. I wonder if this eventually limits the brands and celebrities who are willing to work with her, whether there is just too much risk of bad PR by association. And yet she has never called out this behaviour so seems either complicit or powerless to actually control it.

I don't think they will damage her at all. I'm going by the nasty attacks the Swifties have launched to defend Taylor at various times. It doesn't seem to have any harm to Taylor herself. There are a few fandoms out there who are known to passionately defend the person they are focused on. None of them seem to affect the popularity of their focus.

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/07/2025 08:05

@CurlewKateI'm catching up with the thread and I would love a discussion about fandoms, i find them fascinating. It doesn't need to focus on Meghan necessarily so it could be put on another board?

RandyRedHumpback · 02/07/2025 08:12

Meghan Markle and her dim prince are dangerous. They have fingers in political pies, but have zero interest in the potential consequences of their interference beyond their own gratification. All these business and "philanthropic" endeavours are attempts to legitimise their authority over the public and what is right for the public. The more their lies, stupidity and incompetence is highlighted, the less legitimacy they will have. I'll talk about them and criticise them as I would any other political figure or public figure with undue influence. Their fans need to grow up, Stop regarding them as rescue puppies and more like the very powerful - not to mention rich, connected and perfectly able to take care of themselves - individuals they actually are.

Profhilodisaster · 02/07/2025 08:14

It would be interesting to hear from a successful business owner eg Deborah Meaden what they think of her strategy. Nothing new has appeared on her Shop My for a while, she can't fulfil orders , she doesn't restock etc . What's her strategy? I know she's hoping for a big bucks buy out but this won't happen with the way she's going about things.

A bit of light relief. Scott Rouse tasting his As Ever delivery, and trying to solve the mystery of who had it sent to him.

I confess I know very little about the Kardashians (and if that’s not a stealth boast, I don’t know what is!😁). I had to ask my daughter to enlighten me a year ago or so. So even if M aspires to emulate that kind of “famous for being famous” model, that’s a hell of a tacky come-down for someone who claimed to be a philanthropist/activist and who’s nominally a member of the RF.

i believe she’s little more than a con artist, rather like that woman who defrauded lots of New York millionaires some years ago by posing as a wealthy socialite herself…sorry - her name escapes me. Only M hasn’t succeeded in getting any super-rich on side!

And it’s not even plausible to claim she’s now a genuine entrepreneur because her As Ever venture seems to be incompetently run, highly inauthentic and actually pretty dodgy.

So: activist of dubious merit, failed royal, failed philanthropist (you don’t hear about any major donations any more…if ever) and now, bizarre purveyor of odd, overpriced products. What am I missing?

Beautifulcreatures2 · 02/07/2025 08:29

Two packet shortbread mixes. It's just bewildering to me that anyone would buy that overpriced crap.

CurlewKate · 02/07/2025 08:42

OK, @CoffeeCantatahere’s what I think. It’s not deep. I think that, particularly if you’re not British, and you’re not hugely into all the background stuff, M&H look like the underdogs. They look as if the whole Royal establishment and the whole British press are against them. Think of all the insane stories about trying to poison Charlotte with her wedding bouquet, the wearing jeans to Wimbledon-there was a ton of it. Think of thread after thread on Mumsnet vilifying them. Of course they have loyal fans. And I know there is hugely more to it than that. But if you’re scrolling the internet in, say, America, you see a couple up against an enormous, fabulously rich ancient establishment and losing. So of course you’re on their side. It’s David and Goliath. It’s all very well saying “but there’s all this evidence against them”. Most people won’t read it or will dismiss all of it as lies or hearsay or manipulation (remember there are people who strongly believe the RF arranged Diana’s death) when only some of it is. That’s what fans do. Sorry, hope you weren’t expecting anything groundbreaking!

That's where this selling out nonsense really makes no sense. It's a Kardashian trick to have "sell out" product lines. But they are selling products that are aspirational/unique to the brand/dupes won't cut it. So those who miss out will really be missing out on something they can't get elsewhere. And those lucky enough to get the product can use it for a sustained length of time, weeks, months, years. Packet pancake mix lasts for one or two meals at the most and can be duped in a far superior way using real raw ingredients or another, higher quality and yet cheaper, packet mix. What lunatic will only have pancakes once a quarter (if they are lucky) and pay $18 for ingredients costing less than 50 cents? Which they have to cook themselves, they are not even getting a dining out experience! Selling affordable, high turnover comestibles and hoping she turns into the next Betty Crocker would have been a better strategy.

That's nonsense though.

They are part of that "fabulously rich ancient establishment". Or at least they were until they chose to flounce out. Hardly anyone had heard of Meghan until the 'establishment' lavished fame, titles and status upon her. Nobody in said 'establishment' has uttered more than a few word about them in the past 5 years. Any 'battle' is entirely one-sided, and of the Sussexes' own making.

Is that it? Not sure why there was the need for all the "big reveal" drama, you could have just typed that yesterday. The same thing has been said eleventy billion times on these threads. The myth that they are the underdogs. They are two of the most privileged people on the planet. And one of them has been elevated (ha ha) to this position by the Goliath you think she's been attacked by. I think the truth is coming out now, through accounts like that of Lady Elizabeth Anton, about who has been on the attack from the outset.

RandyRedHumpback · 02/07/2025 08:57

I'll add, 2 of the most privileged people on the planet, aided in their "escape" from the nasty RF by at least one Russian oligarch and 2 billionaires. Who enjoy a massive political platform with the likes of the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom in their camp. Not exactly frightened and homeless on the street, are they?

Profhilodisaster · 02/07/2025 09:09

Ok well thanks for answering @Spectre8 and @CurlewKate .
No , @Spectre8 i am not perfect but there is a huge difference between saying you like a friend’s hair when you don’t and lying to the WORLD! Examples have been poured over several times on here and in the media .

Like so many people I was happy for Harry . I didn’t go down the breath of fresh air route ( I am old enough to remember Sarah being described as that) but I was happy for him .
Reservations kicked in at the engagement interview when she came across as fake .
Loved the wedding and wished them all the best .
They weren’t forced out ; they flounced off . She claims to have been driven to suicidal thoughts by the RF yet clings on to her title ! Make that make sense.
Too many stories of bullying , bad behaviour , lying and downright nastiness . The blatant dislike of Catherine who has behaved impeccably throughout.
OW, Spare, reality show ……
You get the picture I am sure .

A lie is still a lie. I wouldn't want a friend who lies to me even if its as something like whether they like my hair. Do you prefer id if your friend lies to you if you ask them what they think? You are okay with that? 🤔

That's a bit different to lying to a court, lying about when you got married, lying about your children not getting titles due to their skin colour etc

There is such a thing as telling a fib to spare someone’s feelings. It’s a well known human phenomenon. So we tell a lie so as not to be unkind and then maybe find a more gentle way of telling our friend that we don’t think their hair suits them, or allow them to realise for themselves. Not everyone can understand this but for the majority of people it’s very different from telling a lie in court or allowing a lie about someone being racist to go uncorrected.

I think this is a reasonable theory actually.

You may disagree that they are any type of underdogs but once people have this narrative it's very emotionally compelling and easy to dismiss evidence to the contrary.

It's much more interesting to consider the psychology of this type of seemingly irrational fandom than to constantly repeat: but they're wrong and stupid.

Tataler is fascinating with her excitement in countdown, desire to buy anything to support a multimillionaire, and the lengths she'd go to get one bottle of wine with a meghan markle label on it back from the USA.

It's weirdly fascinating.

I tend to believe it as well.
I can't remember which poster it was and I am going to wildly misquote here but it was along the lines of Camilla puts up with the attention and the fanfare to have the husband - Meghan puts up with the husband to have the attention and the fanfare.

Who knows.

Ooh that was me! And you’ve said it much better than I did.

Think about Michael Jackson fans! And imagine you were an alien and you were told to find out about the British royal family from Mumsnet alone, I think the chances are you’d come to the David and Goliath theory too. If only because you’d think nobody could possibly be that wholly bad or that wholly good.
