As per the DM, we are told Meg is using Fairwinds Estate winery for her rose. Sounds nice.
But a Reddit user has discovered, that Fairwinds winery is just a brand under the umbrella of Wine gift shop. They do corporate gifts and print on demand. Oh Meg, as ever

Exactly, Jeff! If they only sold a thousand jars or whatever with no restock, how do they know it's popular, if people bought it just out of curiosity or if they like it and want more...

I'm totally baffled by this marketing "strategy" they're using.

Exactly, spicy ! All obviously pr rubbish.

BemusedAmerican · 03/07/2025 17:23

Maybe some squaddies liked the jam and posted prominent reviews? Maybe they had to make one positive comment? Scott Rouse hated the jam.

StaySpicy · 03/07/2025 17:58

Well, let's face it - the squaddies most probably wouldn't post a bad review if they didn't like it. They'd either not say anything or they'd make something up.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 04/07/2025 09:27

I think a sign of the real issues with As Ever is that it's now way down the DM's headlines. A lot of the cachet is the hate they receive.

With much bigger stories to cover (Trump, Bezos, Jota, Bloom/Perry split) it's tanking in the media. Part of the appeal to fans is defending someone they perceived as under attack.

Meghan releasing wine hasn't generated much traction. They've done so much this year that it's got kind of boring and repetitive.

onehorserace · 04/07/2025 09:38

Agree @TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis there's a flurry at the beginning then it drops faster and faster each time. It's the same same each time.

Mylovelygreendress · 04/07/2025 09:39

I am not American however would it not have made more sense for the wine to have launched in time for 4th July ?

ThePoshUns · 04/07/2025 10:03

Yes far more appropriate than on her deceased mother in laws birthday.

I am old and I have never once been asked what my parents did.

Where I'm from (west coast Scotland) you get asked what school you went to.

But that's absolutely nothing to do with class and all about sectarianism.

Apologies for the derail, but questions like that are linked to a huge variety of issues in the UK. Class is big but it's not the be all and end all.

bluegreygreen · 04/07/2025 10:27

A derail that I understand (originally from NI) but the previous poster stated as if fact 'an American will ask you what you do for a living, whereas a British person will ask you what your parents did'. That is what drew people's responses.

Vespanest · 04/07/2025 10:36

There seems to be a few on twitter who have purchased larger quantities without realising the aging process of rose.

Hope they enjoy their vinegar!

Also seen on TwiX a couple of people saying they are only being refunded the cost of the item that oversold - not the sales tax or the shipping costs.

That's interesting. So she's told these people she will send them a free jar/ product for the inconvenience when it's back in stock. But they will still have to have paid the tax and shipping costs. Customers not happy will have to demand those costs back and in return they don't receive the free product? So actually, no compensatory freebie for that double inconvenience?

From the East coast and unless into football and living in the 3 cities this sectarianism was never encountered by myself growing up. It wasn't until I was 21 when I had a bf from Glasgow that I even knew it existed. As to schools I went based on 11 plus then schools went comp.

Weepixie · 04/07/2025 13:43

I’m from the East coast and what school a person went to was always one of the first questions asked about someone else.

And in fact a person place of employment could also be asked about if what school they went to wasn’t clears as Dc Thomsons for eg was known to have a hidden policy of employing Protestants along with a few RC’s.

The wine launch was barely covered

Maybe because no one can actually taste the wine?. They have paid for it but no one has received anything. A total non event.

ThePoshUns · 04/07/2025 14:44

There was a thread on Twitter commenting that ‘the pour’ on instagram sounded like someone having a wee and was Meghan recording herself and dubbing it over?!

BemusedAmerican · 04/07/2025 16:12

If you order something, it's out of stock, and the company cancels the order, the tax for the product you didn't receive is always refunded. If you have ordered other products that ship, you are only charged the shipping fee for the shipped product as well as the tax on the shipped product. Most of the companies I order from have a flat delivery rate. The tax will vary, but you only get taxed on the shipped product.

I would contact the BBB if I was charged tax on a canceled item.

I’m from Glasgow originally but I haven’t lived there for 30 + years. I had completely forgotten about trying to figure your religion by asking what school you went to. I definitely don’t miss that crap.

Do the company have to pay tax on an item they give away free, do you know?

A bit like how servers get taxed on the tips they are assumed to have received?

Edited

That was me, didn’t intend it to be taken seriously and clarified once I saw how stirred up people got!

I don't know. Republic of Tea owns a tea company called Upton that only sells loose leaf tea. You can choose a free tea sample with every order, so they are, in a sense, giving you a small amount of free tea. They use it as a marketing ploy. I've liked samples and now buy the tea regularly. I don't know how it is handled tax wise but since I'm not paying for it, I don't think they have to pay sales tax on it.

I would like to point out that she is NOT drinking her own rose at her Fourth of July party. She also doesn't seem to be barbecuing, reading the Declaration of Independence, listening to John Phillips Souza, etc .I was expecting her to be knocking back the rose while doing something patriotic.🙁

Meghan making cocktails for 4 July, that are mostly solid fruit so I'm not sure how you actually drink it. Every time she films herself doing something practical in the kitchen she comes across as never having done it before. I know lots of actors struggle with props, maybe she is one.

BemusedAmerican · 05/07/2025 11:00

We also had a really major organic blueberry recall here in the US due to listeria.
