As per the DM, we are told Meg is using Fairwinds Estate winery for her rose. Sounds nice.
But a Reddit user has discovered, that Fairwinds winery is just a brand under the umbrella of Wine gift shop. They do corporate gifts and print on demand. Oh Meg, as ever

Not sure about sinister, but I think she's a Walter Mitty. I think she believes her own fantasies/stories/lies. Case in point, the story she told about meeting Yasmeen Bleeth during her Jamie Kern Lima interview. She told an elaborate tale of nervous teen Meghan going up to Bleeth and of Bleeth taking the time to talk to teen Meghan and asking her name. That inspired Meghan to always ask the name of young fans approaching her. It was a life changing experience for her. Except that she's on video from her Suits says telling the same tale, where teen Meghan approached Bleeth, Bleeth just blanked her, and teen Meghan sloped off embarrassed. I wonder whether the version she told JKL is what she wished had happened - wished and wished until it became real in her head.

I suspect there would be a significant number of posters who would say she was copying…

Not a single one of the many regular posters on the board would be involved in anything like you’ve suggested.

I think Meghan seems to be a woman who constantly needs to reinvent herself in new roles - even if that means rewriting or denying the facts of her past.

Just since she met Harry she adopted multiple new personas some of which contradicted past claims.

Nature loving Charity activist - She seemed to attract Harry by being the "boho" philanthropist and Diana 2.0. She convinced him that she loved camping trips to Africa and charity work. But that seemed forgotten as soon as the marriage certificate was signed and she never visited Harry's "beloved" Sentebale projects in 7 years or returned to magical Botswana.

The royal "modernizer" - she was going to whip the RF into 21st century shape through "American" workplace practices, feminist mantras involving washing-up liquid, not following dress codes, ignoring hierarchy and establishing the Sussex Royal website to merch her products. But after 72 appearances and ignoring any advice it all got too much that they took an extended break for a couple of months and never returned.

"Just an ordinary couple" - a very brief phase after they "found freedom" where they eschewed titles with "I'm Meghan", "just call me Harry" and we chose not to have titles for our kids. It seems to have gone out of the window with the circling back to wanting traditional royal status through the recent title merching and "don't call me Markle", faux royal overseas tours to Nigeria/Colombia and sending gifts from HRH Duchess Meghan Sussex"

Media mogul - Meghan would be the new Oprah by producing and appearing in a whole range of programming and podcasts and becoming a billionaire. The US companies threw $millions at them although there have been few successes. (I'm a bit disappointed that she didn't make the "Miss Havisham as a feminist icon" drama that was in pre-production a few years' ago as it sounded hilarious.)

Tradwife/lady of the manor - was the persona she adopted for WLM where she tries to convince us that she is digging her own veg and sending the kids to market while hosting gracious garden parties in floaty dresses and making crap, sorry crepe packet mixes with the kids which are smeared with liquid jam and pot-pourri sprinkles.

Female founder & Super Mom - she's a business woman who is selling stuff while being supermom. Although her podcast revealed little actual business knowledge beyond trite platitudes about running her business from her kitchen while packing lunches and doing school runs. She seems to have a very strange stock control system as she never orders enough so her online shop is only open for an hour every few months.

The constant reinvention must be exhausting .....

StartupRepair · 03/07/2025 04:08

I would add polo WAG to this list. Involving eyelash fluttering and being front and centre of any prize presentation.
And worst of all grief tourist and exploiter at Uvalde, the fires and among the parents bereaved by social media.

It basically means sharply responding to criticism. However! The way Meghan does it is often not via denial or defence of herself, but as a form of attack or justification where the locus of blame ends up somewhere else.

So for example, when ARO first launched, people were saying MM couldn't possibly have grown enough of her own strawberries to have produced 50 jars of strawberry jam to send to her friends. She could have just ignored this, but instead she clapped back. But not by saying she did indeed grow them (I don't think they do grow in that area) or admit that she bought them from the nearest supplier, but by having a go at Highgrove Estate and saying they buy in strawberries rather than using their own. So a clap back as a form of attack on an un-related entity (Highgrove Estate) and a justification for the unsaid bit (that she would have had to have bought the strawberries).

With the Briefcase Girl clap back, she did get some (admittedly unfair and salacious commentary) about her time on DOND. But she could have disarmed that with some grace and humour as a form of clap back, showing that sometimes you need to take roles that you wouldn't ideally take, as a stepping stone in the industry. Instead, she went down the feminist outrage route of victimisation and objectification. In other words, she did the job, but it was someone else's fault she ended up in this sexy and somewhat low-brow role.

Isn't attack the first line of defence?

This may or may not be true but I once read that when Sophia Loren was a young starlet a journalist asked her if it was true that she's posed naked for a calendar when she was younger. Apparently she said, "Yes, what do you want to make of it?"

upinaballoon · 03/07/2025 06:27

I meant 'she'd posed' but it was too late to edit.

Has M had time to explore the Nigerian links to her family?

CoffeeCantata · 02/07/2025 16:12

I don’t think Meghan has been a positive force in any way over the last 7 years. See Randy’s post above. She’s deviously exploited lots of situations to cause division, resentment, anger, hatred even, where these things didn’t exist before.

She’s a very divisive figure and she loves it, but her games have damaged a lot of other people and caused pain to her husband’s grandparents in their final days. Not cool.

I totally agree @CoffeeCantata and I cannot think of anyone in the public eye who’s been so disingenuous and deliberately exploitative over the past 20 years (or even before) let alone a couple who’ve laid bare the most private parts of their lives like Harry’s book Spare.
i guess they’ll continue to do almost anything for $$$$$ including using they’re children.
It’s so tacky, desperate and yet they can’t see this 🤷🏼‍♀️

That's a great response. Owning it matter-of-factly and disarming its "shaming" power. She didn't say. "Well so did Marilyn Monroe."

Well I had my tongue somewhat in my cheek but it’s not far wide of the mark in certain circles. And while one may not be asked directly, the question will be asked.

I am old and I have never once been asked what my parents did.

Well as I said, not a totally serious post but it seems to have wound people up which wasn’t my intention! My point really was that the British class system is alive and well and people are more interested in provenance than prosperity.

Why? Doesn't it have more relevance when a 70 year old says it as opposed to a 20 year old ?

bluegreygreen · 03/07/2025 10:37

One would think so.

If it helps, I am middle aged (early 50s) and have also never been asked what my parents did.

Of course life experience used to mean it probably has more relevance than someone very much younger but nowadays it seems to bring on eye rolling and dismissal 🤷🏼‍♀️
I guess younger generations have always tended to think they know it all (I did!) but at 71 at least sometimes it’s accepted that I do know more and better than younger people!

We're not talking about knowledge per se but we are talking about life experience ie what has happened to you and yup a 70 year old has more lived experience than a 20 year old 😂

MrsLeonFarrell · 03/07/2025 13:33

On Instagram Meghan has shared 2 posts from people who were waiting with their fingers on the button to get her wine. I don't think they are famous and 2 strikes me as a really low number. Louise Thompson for far more responses when she recommended a fan recently - it sold out on amazon briefly!

Very interesting @BemusedAmerican I do however take issue with the line .. the apricot spread has gone on to be a fan favourite…. How? , how can it be a favourite if hardly anyone got any! 🤷‍♀️

There is even a poster who lives in an 18th century house in Cornwall explaining Prince William's homelessness initiative to Guest Speaker.

In the article someone said they only had half a jar of the raspberry spread left. I've never kept jam for a month let alone multiples

Exactly, Jeff! If they only sold a thousand jars or whatever with no restock, how do they know it's popular, if people bought it just out of curiosity or if they like it and want more...

I'm totally baffled by this marketing "strategy" they're using.

Jam is a rare treat and generally spread very thin for me. It can take a year to use a jar.

this isn’t a competitive under-eating thing, I just find jam in particular so highly flavored. Conversely, a jar of pickles generally lasts less than a week and sometimes less than a day for me.

And tasters have said her jam is very sweet. Maybe that's it.
