Wish I could go back and find all those posters who predicted a Kardashian-esqe social media blitz at some point in H&M's future, wonder where are all the posters who we're so affronted by the very idea of that.

It's obvious they got paid and the trip to Disney was a freebie. Who at Disney thought this was a good idea? They clearly don't have their finger on the pulse, whoever they are.

If the Disney trip was comped, terms would have been agreed to, and the filming would have been completed prior to the release of the twerking video.

It is very bad news for H&M if indeed the Disney gave them a freebie in exchange for the "real princess meets Disney princess" moment. Disney has very tight princess branding...joyful, loving, kind, generous, promotes family harmony, loves animals...no twerking at all.

To be blindsided by the twerking video (even the recently departed social media manager made it quite clear she was NOT involved) means that any credible company must think twice about doing a deal with people who have such a scattershot brand strategy.

This reminds me of the case of the Rector of Stiffkey (pronounced 'Stookey') in Norfolk - a big scandal of the early 20th century. He was defrocked for sexual impropriety (not the usual - consorting too closely with prostitutes) and was eventually reduced to exhibiting himself living in a barrel somewhere.

He came to a sad end in a circus act, killed by a lion whose tail he trod on.

And I’ve made my mind up, I’m coming to London for next year as part of a 5 week trip I want to take round the Uk if I can pluck up the courage to leave home for 5 weeks, what with the way things are with my boy. I think the high turnover of comms staff is more to do with the fact that H&M are difficult to work with. There are plenty of other things which suggest they're feeling a bit down on their uppers:

1. The ARO/As Ever trademark nightmare
2. As Ever's shoddy launch
3. As Ever's shoddy looking product range (labels stuck by hand, wonkily!)
4. The use of ShopMy rather than a bespoke app
5. The fact that Meghan no longer employs a professional stylist
6. The fact that Meghan does not appear to be using a professional food photographer

If you're a Hadid, say, or a Kardashian, launching a new brand and you have money, you whack a great big bit of bunce into PR & marketing up front. Your promo pics are delicious and mouth watering. The product pics should positively glow with desirability. You yourself will be on the red carpet at the Met Gala, styled to within an inch of your life and looking every bit the Boss Babe Businesswoman. THAT'S how you launch a desirable product.

One does not launch [insert Boromir gif here] a desirable FMCG product with 2014-era wonky IG pics of you splashing in the ocean. And the stickers on the jars? You DAMN WELL MAKE SURE THEY'RE STUCK ON STRAIGHT.

Also might I add as a rank amateur - if you put some flowers in a cleaned out jar for IG purposes make sure it doesn't look like the label is perfect - it would have suffered in the washing out process . But that probably says more abut me than anyone else I freely admit.

I think the NF deal starting in Sept 2020 had some sort of set up whereby money was released for the set up/running of their ‘office’

So this to me, getting rid of 6 staff members is a sign that the NF deal is def ending and the money has dried up. They are slashing costs and have moved to more revealing SM content.

They basically have an executive assistant each, head of comms and a Netflix marketing person who I think NF will be supplying on a part time basis to deal with the As ever stuff. This is the only thing that NF will continue to be involved with for the moment. The rest of the work has been shifted to a PR agency.

Meghan's Insta followers have dropped to 3.8m from the high of 4m after the twerking video.

It must be a hard come down, after the initial high of the views it generated, to realise the most interest they have managed to generate recently, has been due to her gyrating and grinding on instagram, and even then it barely moved the dial on her followers.

Unfortunately, it did generate some very x-rated and repulsive memes, there for ever for their kids to find eventually.

Interesting. It's going to be hard to maintain, though, isn't it? What can they possibly do to keep the clicks going, to keep in the headlines? What do they have to sell? Pancake mix and jam isn't going to do it.
