Wish I could go back and find all those posters who predicted a Kardashian-esqe social media blitz at some point in H&M's future, wonder where are all the posters who we're so affronted by the very idea of that.

People magazine and all, the uber celeb magazine.

I guess needs must with the downfall of her business efforts, \oh look, here are my kids whose privacy we have decided to forego for the greater good of taking the heat off what a crap business woman I am'.

Indeed. He probably didn't even notice them. His food was brought and prepared, his clothes washed and valeted, his rooms cleaned, cars and planes appeared, engagements arranged, top security was constantly in place. As if by magic. By people he didn't even look at, I would imagine..

I read somewhere, I think it was Spare, that he had meals delivered to his fridge from a Royal chef whilst he lived in Not Cot. A man who didn’t work , lived in a free house and wasn’t doing any engagements apart from Invictus latterly. What on earth was he doing with his time?

That applies to all of the royals I imagine, and it would probably cost the same in security if he had to have a bodyguard accompany him around Waitrose once a week.

No, I don't.

Was wondering if possibly the Chief Communications Officer quit, so they changed the job title to Director of Communications when replacing her, so it didn't look like another employee did a runner 😁

Edited

The Chief communications Officer is Meredith Maines who was appointed earlier this year .
I am just a bit bewildered about all these staff with fancy titles .
And before anyone says it’s up to them and their money , it’s just idle curiosity on my part .

MaturingCheeseball · 13/06/2025 09:04

It doesn’t seem like a “looking forward” appointment to hire someone who was instrumental in some of the bitchier story-lines in The Crown.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the strategy now might be full-on Alexis Carrington (swimming pool scene already scripted…).

Exactly, this woman knows what Royal storylines sell- so far from breaking free from the Royals, it looks like they believe they can have their own court across the pond.

Trouble is, they don’t have taxpayer funds anymore. No one believes they can afford this level of staffing. Which will be on top of domestic staffing etc. They easily spend $5 mil a year. That’s completely unsustainable. This is make or break for them in terms of income. They have probably 40 million in bank- that’s gone in just 8 years. Lili won’t even be a teen yet. So they need find a way to generate 5-10 mil a year, stable income. Meghan clearly thinks As ever and selling the brand Sussex can do this. She hasn’t realised she’s peaked. The NF deal, the book deal. Spotify- that was their chance. As ever is a footnote in the NF deal.

At some point they need to wake up, and realise all this spending is nonsense. They don’t need the level of security they pay for, the house of that size, garden of that size, staff of that size.
They could easily buy a small manageable home in Montecito, reduce the staff dramatically, reduce the security, reduce the court cases, reduce the social media addiction and live extremely comfortably with 40 mil in the bank. A happy, quiet, very rich life.

The problem is Meg think she’s smart and sees these women around her who became billionaires etc and she thinks she’s better than them, of course she can become a billionaire too. But she doesn’t have the commitment gene needed to make yourself into a billionaire- the kind of person that mortgages their house, works 20hrs a day. Meghan doesn’t have it in her.

She seems to think this licensing agreement that she has with NF (That’s all As ever is- is a licensing agreement using informercials to sell millennial Meg fan products) will give her a steady income, hopefully into the millions every year. That’s clearly not possible.

Surrounding themselves with billionaires is going to lead to their finiancial downfall. Adding yet another member of staff is proof of this.

Harry is used to the Palace machine doing things for him. He didn't need to worry about PR, a diary secretary, communications, security, housekeeping, cars etc because it was all done for him, and later, them as a couple. They honestly didn't know their level of privilege in the RF.

And, for someone with Harry's lack of self-awareness and self-reflection, he probably thought he was a very clever and capable chap too, on the back of what these people did for him. I've met such people - they happily take the kudos with no apparent embarrassment that it's really due to the very hard work and professionalism of others. He may also have thought (if he thought at all) that 'the fairies' did all kinds of things - arrange travel, pay for it, devise itineraries, liaise with other VIPS and their teams etc etc.

Silly, dim twit that he is.

Meghan isn't quite the same - she's had to hustle for herself and has VERY sharp elbows, I imagine. But she's also a bully who, when given super-professional and dedicated staff to work for her, just revelled in the opportunity to lord it over them (It's not my job to coddle people! etc).

Yet - in her interview with Tom Bradby on one of their actual royal tours - where she switches on the doe-eyes and summons up a tiny tear - she clearly expected to be coddled herself.

MaturingCheeseball · 13/06/2025 10:14

I expect this communications woman is as we speak pumping Harryfor more dirt on the rf: it’s all he’s good for. There is this supposed Diana documentary so no doubt Harry will be front and centre spouting conspiracy theories.

slinkiemalinkiey · 13/06/2025 11:02

Urrrgghh all I say was this woman is pumping Harry 🤮

Now that is a number 1 comment about the coddling ! Spot on !

slinkiemalinkiey · 13/06/2025 11:14

I'm realising that Meghan is like Harry who thinks his names opens doors for him. She is also guilty of this. She doesn't see the work that goes on behind people's " empires" eg Gwyneth Paltrow. Maybe it isn't GP who is doing the bulk of it , maybe she has an excellent team but Meghan though for whatever reason seems to have teams who don't achieve this consistency. I imagine Meghan thinking " I'm a Duchess now they will listen to me" . She's fallen into the trap of Americans being swayed by " things European" whether it is skincare or beds except it hasn't worked. There is no clear image with her - talk of home goods which ended up with spread, clothing links which seem to have evaporated , a Netflix show which produced rotten reviews, make up links - the twists and turns are endless. It's a mish mash with the latest offering a dancing video.

Kweeni · 13/06/2025 11:47

AtIusvue · 13/06/2025 07:44

They are hiring a woman whose job it was to sell the drama around the RF with a fictionalised show but they run away from the UK because of intrusive media? If a journalist commenting on her writing on bananas can be called intrusive?

How can Harry not see it was always about his status being used and abused to get what they want. Embarrassing.

To me that a sign that the kids will def be on shown more and the Sussex family brand will be pushed. It’s why we’ve had the name story, why we’ve had the passport story- which was with the guardian- maybe she has links with the guardian?

This is an interesting appointment.

Seemingly emeshment / association with BRF is the key plank in their future PR strategy.

Looks like the previous 'Hollywood A list' brnad didnt work out - given WME were unable to secure even one collaboration for MM and the key industry bibles are legally confident to report on her consistent and persistent bullying of staff.

Back to the drawing board it appears.

I wonder why they chose the home they did. It cost 14mil apparently but I can't see the appeal. I was just browsing Montecito houses and there are some stunners for sale at a fraction of the cost. Like this one https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/1181-Glenview-Rd_Santa-Barbara_CA_93108_M29494-37617?from=srp-list-card
Perhaps their house is better for security, or they just like it for the status symbol value.

Thedom · 13/06/2025 12:42

This is the kind of commentary they are paying a huge team of PR people to try to bury.

Lovely house!

I love having a look on Zillow and typing in expensive places around the world….my god! I’ve done this a few times for Montecito- all the homes, regardless of how many millions, are gorgeous! But Megs is def on the larger home end of the scale. There are much more modern, better decorated homes for sale under $14 million but much smaller. They would be easier to maintain, less staff costs etc. Lots of these homes are in gated communities anyway, so I’m not sure they need a home with a large garden- that screams security risk to me.

I personally believe, with the circles they move in, anything less than ‘estate’ wasn’t going to be good enough for a Duchess. It means she’s got lovely views, huge grounds and a very large home. But it’s incredibly dated, a style very 90s/early 2000s. We know from the Cut article too, that lots of work needs to be done on it. Im guessing it’s an absolute money pit. Full time gardeners, domestic staff etc just to keep the place running. A beautiful home that size, location would have been out of their budget. So they bought a dated home, that needs work, from a Russian selling at a knockdown price.

What I cannot understand is why a lifestyle guru such as Millennial Meg, is still using the same battered kitchen installed years ago by an oligarch. Even the NYT article which was used to launch As ever, mentioned that it was ‘well worn’ - that’s their way of saying it’s run down and in need of replacing.

If you look at the kitchens of the other properties, almost all have updated kitchens. She might like that country look. She might think it screams Gen Z cottage core but it’s doesn’t. Its dated. If she wants that look, she going to have spend some serious money for a kitchen that size. I would think at a minimum $500,000 but probably closer to $1,000000 to include all the fancy appliances, new flooring etc.

I don’t think they have that kind of cash. They spent it all on staff.

They are the definition of faking it till you make it. They are faking being billionaires.

Lol this board and its double standards when you'll criticising them to death hownyou never see the children and they never go anywhere and now they never spent time with them and what awful parents they are blah blah and now they share a few moments of them out and about with their kids and its omg look at them monetising their children, why are they sharing their, how dare they blah blah

Privacy doesn't mean never seeing anything it meant for them as they said having more control over what is put out there and they do have that now. It's their choice to share pics of their children and not having paps taking pics as happened to w&h when they were kids on their holidays. Or like how paps took pics of Kate topples son her holiday when she thought if was private place.

Plenty of people share pics of them on holiday whether their account is public or private.

And whoever said they did it to get a paid trip to Disney.. where is your proof of that? Or are you yet again making stuff up.

I know right? The sheer outrage of their photos largely containing obscured shots of the children, when … wait for it … they have children and that is their life now! It hardly bears thinking about does it? How dare they visit theme parks and have a good time with them! They should all sit under the dining room table and never go out anywhere ever again! 😉

I knew one of these once - my CEO, in fact.

He reported his dazzling success to the Board in delivering an event - and only acknowledged that I'd done any work at all after a different Board member pointed out that I'd done 99% of the delivery (and this was way too small a firm to have a hands off CEO).

Whenever I ran events subsequently he'd show up last minute, refusing to lift a finger - it really damaged his reputation with the staff.

Funnily enough he ended up fucking off to California with his American wife too. He wanted to CEO from afar - and we didn't let him have half-in half-out! He hardly fucking did anything when he was "all in", so we weren't paying for half of the twat.

No one is outraged at the photos but people are commenting on the hypocrisy of two people whose tagline is about bullying and the evils of social media and the necessary protection of children from it and there they are.

I was thinking something similar earlier today. I idly wondered if the twerking video had recently been filmed (and not four year’s ago) and they gave a secret donation to use the room. Absolutely nothing to back this up other than neither of my pregnancies had squishy, malleable bumps that I could move up or out of the way, but it was no more than idle thinking.

BunnyLake · 13/06/2025 14:12

Well they can’t talk about that anymore. I can’t see how that door is anything but firmly shut now.
