Wish I could go back and find all those posters who predicted a Kardashian-esqe social media blitz at some point in H&M's future, wonder where are all the posters who we're so affronted by the very idea of that.

People magazine and all, the uber celeb magazine.

I guess needs must with the downfall of her business efforts, \oh look, here are my kids whose privacy we have decided to forego for the greater good of taking the heat off what a crap business woman I am'.

Also the quality of followers might be less than optimal. Eg the cabin crew who allegedly wrote her a message, “Love you real bad”

Are these followers who might buy M’s jam and (now, apparently) wine, or has the direction taken a turn towards merching -ahem- less high-end products/services or, indeed, recruiting viewers for a reality show?

JSMill · 11/06/2025 18:56

Yes I agree. Although before we get back on track, can I share a screenshot of a card I saw on Moonpig?

Hmm, except in this case it was recorded and plastered in the media

I always like seeing the ridiculous lengths Harry and Meghan’s supporters have to go to to keep convincing themselves that their favourites are in the right. And they never seem to be conscious of how ridiculous this makes then look. In this case, some of the most senior and respected judges in the UK are looking for the King’s favour. Apparently. 🙄

Possibly they do not really understand the system and of course may come from a country where corruption is widespread and such things are the norm.

JSMill · 12/06/2025 10:09

I wonder how many followers are journalists from around the world waiting for her to post something so they can write about it? I don’t think any other celebrity account gets so much written about it yet it doesn’t translate into more followers. As we are seeing, M is revealing more and more personal photos and more and more content featuring the children. I wonder how desperate she is going to get.

You have reminded me of something I saw posted last night. According to the salacious gossip monger, Dan Wootton, that cabin crew video was a clap back at him! He said for the last 6 months he's been investigating MM's behaviour on planes towards cabin crew dating back to her time in Suits, and it's not good. He said his investigation was prompted when he was approached by a BA staff member about MM's behaviour towards Archie on the S. Africa trip. He's also spoken to AA staff, who say the cabin crew TikTok video crosses all their employment/ethical lines, so it must have been agreed to be posted. Obviously to be taken with a bucketful of salt, but interesting nonetheless.

Profhilodisaster · 12/06/2025 11:19

@PurplebeadedFendi I saw that , wouldn't AA have kicked up a fuss if it was one of their crew or made a statement if it wasn't? I only caught a snippet of it so didn't really get the whole gist.

Not sure. I couldn't work out whether he was saying it was posted with the agreement of AA or that is was posted with the agreement of MM (and therefore any passenger privacy issues waived). I assume it has to be the latter, because AA can't unilaterally waive a passenger's privacy rights. But if their employee has breached their contractual terms by posting something "nice" about MM and gets sacked as a result, that would cause its own shit-storm. The whole gist of the piece was that MM uses cabin crew and behaves badly on flights knowing that the hands of the airline and the crew are largely tied on the matter due to privacy/security/negative publicity. All that's left is whistle-blowing, but even that's tenuous when it comes to passenger (as opposed to management) behaviour.

Thedom · 12/06/2025 12:10

The video apparently got 42M views. That's huge numbers. She got 600k new followers from that.

40million views was not 40million unique viewers though, anyone who watched it, checked it out multiple times, either in disbelief or trying to figure out if it was a real bump or not, probably 10 times or more 😂. Although they hide their likes, you can still see it via google and it got a little over 2m likes, which is minuscule in comparison to the views.

I think the 600k additional followers are not all genuine followers either, lots of AI / bot accounts would have been prompted by the publicity around it.

Since the chart ended in 2023 with humans as 50.4% of web traffic, I would wager that since we are in 2025 most online commentary is bots.

Social media influencers routinely buy bots so there is no issue with H&M doing so. The problem is bots don't buy merch.

If all real people are doing is rubber-necking and moving on then it is a problem as the sales aren't coming in but the marketing costs (buying bots) are up.

Human and bot web traffic share 2023| Statista

In 2023, most of the global website traffic was still generated by humans but bot traffic is constantly growing.

Very true @Thedom , didn't know you could view the likes that way. Really not great figures taken into context

AtIusvue · 12/06/2025 13:22

I think with the new Disney pics and the video, she will engage more ‘fans’

The picking flowers in the garden pics, get old fast.

This is now her new problem. She recognises the most hits she’s had, is with more personal content. She’s at a fork in the road- reveal more of the kids and her insta becomes popular but opening her kids up to scrutiny, or continue down the boring trad wife garden pics route.

I can’t see her going back personally. But there’s a limit to how many pics from behind you can view of anyone. So she will have to up her game. I think we will see a lot more of Lili (face covered) but in a variety of situations, inc video. I don’t think there will be an increase of pics of Archie.

Only a few years ago, they talked a lot about him. The bench was about him and Harry. Archewell was named after him. Yet, we literally know nothing about his life- if he plays sports, If on a sports team, what’s his fav soccer team etc. All talk of him has disappeared.

I think Lili will be the As ever poster girl of the future, so will be more pics and more insta followers.

CreationNat1on · 12/06/2025 14:20

Part of the love /fascination with Diana was her faux pas (s), her fashion, her character (positives and negatives). Diana grew from the awkward teenager into a powerful woman on the world stage.

MM (and also Kate), are very boring in comparison.

MM would possibly get more lucrative attention, if her dress sense was not quite so practical. If they went skiing or on a sun holiday, I m sure they would generate interest (without the performative dancing). If there was a new hair style.

All 4 of them are as boring as hell. (wchm).

MaturingCheeseball · 12/06/2025 16:11

I agree, @AtIusvue , she is at a fork. I’m sure she will be encouraged to lean more to the twerk side, as this and the Disney content have eclipsed any of the floating round the garden/flower sprinkling/girl boss stuff.

There hasn’t been a post for what - two days? - so I expect there are Big Discussions in the Montecito campaign room about what to show us next.

PurplebeadedFendi · 12/06/2025 16:31

MM's not getting her award on Saturday as previously planned, and it's Trooping The Colour. I have no doubt there will be something popping up on Instagram on Saturday morning, UK time.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/06/2025 16:32

My problem with all this is that if I am to go and look at something, it needs to be something I find interesting. If what is on offer is either the same-old same-old or content very similar to that of others with more experience who therefore do whatever it is better, what's the hook, for me? Meghan simply seems to me to be very, very ordinary.

Woman in her mid-forties makes jam. Woman in her mid-forties has self-important but essentially talentless husband. Woman in her mid-forties does adolescent dance. Woman in her mid-forties has small children around. Honestly? Yawn. It has all been done before, many, many, many, many times but with less self-aggrandisement. Any time now I expect "woman in her forties becomes first person ever to be perimenopausal" to become her latest schtick.

Thoughts ? A hike with A and L ?

Uricon2 · 12/06/2025 17:28

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime concur. It is all so very boring, the trad housewife stuff, the Harry petulance, the attempts at relevance and relatability, the worthy word salad utterances, the self importance both of them exhibit, the beige predictable luxe life. No humour, no authenticity. Dull.

Ironically, this dullness is the one thing that won't be forgiven in the end. It is the thing they can't get round in engaging the public in sufficient numbers. Look at the resurgence of the career of Robert Downey Jnr. Junkie, jailbird, uninsurable so noone would hire him, a grim outcome was predicted. He pulled it back against all odds and I think he did so through a mixture of frankness, a basic likeability and the fact he has real talent. These attributes are lacking in M&H.

Full Benny Hill, I reckon. Harry as Benny, Meghan as a Hill's Angel.

Speeded up with the Yakkety Sax soundtrack 😂.

Actually, that might be worth a look.

Many things are forgiveable but being boring is not one of them. Ironically their (or maybe more her) pursuit of perfection (never admitting a weakness or failing, never admitting being wrong, never saying sorry) has resulted in them being so insufferably dull as people.

I agree. I’ve nothing against Kate she seems lovely but I think she could have cultivated a bit more personality for her role. I know she probably just didn’t want to get anything wrong and once she got into her stride it probably wouldn’t have seemed possible to suddenly spring a personality on to the public. I like her though as you know she’d be a good friend and would never stab you in the back. Perhaps behind closed doors she channels Princess Margaret and has a sing song at the piano and holds raucous dinner parties 😁

The beige really says it all. I really can’t understand her thinking behind it. It’s a stupid, boring permanent style to adopt, rather like Geri Halliwell and her godawful white.

Yes, leaving the awful restrictions of the RF life to embrace...beigeness. I wonder what Harry makes of it really. He grew up in homes full of colour and art, possibly some of them a bit shabby around the edges but what they weren't and aren't is decorated in a neutral palate. Dunno, perhaps he really likes beige too.
