I've embarrassed for Meghan saying that her arranging takeaway food on a plate is the same thing as what Figs Heather Hasson has done 😬

There was one balcony appearance, can't recall the event, when Harry had to tell her to stop talking because the band was playing God Save the Queen.

Talk about not being able to read the room. Just no class at all/

It was Trooping of The Colour in 2019. He had to tell her twice ( video available if anyone is interested). Reckon he would have suffered later , probably as she sobbed on the floor .

HonoriaBulstrode · 02/06/2025 12:25

I thought it might be Trooping, as I recalled that H was in uniform, but it would have been a guess.

It's not as if she wouldn't recognise the tune, even if she didn't know the words - Americans know it as 'My Country, 'Tis of Thee'. And she would have seen that everyone else had stopped talking and was standing to attention, eyes front.

One or two early mishaps poss understandable esp as cameras trained? She’d have settled to it I expect if she stayed.

RandyRedHumpback · 02/06/2025 12:29

That balcony incident at Trooping wasn't so bad, imo. MM was facing forward and stopped talking by the time the national anthem began. There are other incidents though, like the family line up for Eugenie's wedding, when H&M were trying to position themselves beside QEII rather than walking down the line in keeping with the "pecking order". The Queen looks like she has to have words with Harry, and it all looks unnecessarily awkward. I guess they got their own back though, by announcing MM's pregnancy at the reception 🙄

Knakeredd · 02/06/2025 12:44

I find her half brother, Tom Markle's, letter to PH just before the wedding interesting. I think he is a dreadful character but his opinion on MM at that point in time is interesting:

"Dear Prince Harry,

It's not to late. Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you. As more time passes to your royal wedding, it become very clear that this is the biggest mistake in royal wedding history. I'm confused why you don't see the real Meghan that the whole world now sees Meghan's attempt to act the part of a princess like a below C average Hollywood actress.

What kind of person starts out using her own father until he's bankrupt, then forgets about him in Mexico leaving him broke, over mostly all her debts and when it's time to pay him back, she forgets her own father like she never knew him.

My father will never recover financially from paying Meghan's way, nor emotionally from disavowing him, Meg is showing her true colours.

Its very apparent that her tiny bit of Hollywood fame has gone to her head, changing her into a jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you and the royal family heritage.

Not to mention she doesn't invite her own family and instead invite complete strangers to the wedding - who does that?

You and the Royal Family can put an end to this fake fairytale wedding before its too late."

Did she ‘bankrupt’ her own father & betray him? Which debts were unpaid?

She had more money than he did in Suits era so no need to tap him up for cash. (?) Plus he had lotto win (?)

Did he not betray her? Any truth in bankrupting him?

Lifestooshort71 · 02/06/2025 13:11

I agree with a lot of the comments on here and not so much with some of the others (it's one reason these threads are so interesting).

I'm sure it's been said many times that M struggles to doesn't accept any form of control from anybody - her 'hit the ground running' was a total giveaway and a forerunner of what was to come. In an organisation like the RF, you fit into your allocated slot and learn the business slowly from the bottom up, not immediately put your stamp on it. She started married life (to someone she barely knew in a new country) and a prestigious job in one of the most famous companies in the world - as much fame and fortune as she'd ever dreamed of but.....no control over her life. It wasn't going to end well.

Knakeredd · 02/06/2025 13:18

It doesnt sound like they were MM's debts - her DF clearly funded her private education, uni costs and seemingly her living expenses until she was 30 years old and secured a part in Suits. I suspect her dream was as much his and they were still friends until right before the wedding (spent 2016 Thanksgiving together) - I dont think TM Sr ever complained about financially supporting his daughter - and would imagine he personally was satisfied with his ROI prior to estrangment. I suspect part sibling rivalry from TM Jr and part feeling a level of injustice for his DF.

MaturingCheeseball · 02/06/2025 13:35

It was the case that H&M had pitched for their seat to be Windsor Castle. It is castle-y - so would appeal to all their new Hollywood friends and is convenient for Heathrow. The plan proposed was to have a joint rule with William - with H&M handling all the glam stuff and the dreary bits left to stolid William and Kate.

Funnily enough the rf laughed so hard they needed sutures, and H&M were highly insulted that they, being so popular - were being treated as spares .

Oh yea it was the worst betrayal in the world being pictured trying on a wedding suit. She was /is ashamed of her father and it’s pretty obvious she did not want him coming to the wedding

I agree. What I am interested in is whether any real substance to ‘bankrupted’ claim?

Utterly delusional. The fact that Harry went along with this shows how dim he is. To my knowledge, there are no examples of throne-sharing by any monarchy in the world.

Would he have gone along with any strong partner’s plan I wonder? If Chelsy had suggested a life in SA, etc?

$750,000 in 1990 re: the win, not a small sum!

Sounds like TM Sr tried to do ‘right’ things with money, leg up for kids & financial investments. Re: latter he needed better advice & had some bad luck.

TM is now living in Thailand as he couldn’t afford to continue living in Mexico.

I think he would. He strikes me, in a good way, as a partner eager to please.

Didn’t Chelsey end it at least once because of Harry flirting with other women or even being unfaithful? He was mean with Cressida . I think he was the one in control in those relationships.

User14March · 02/06/2025 14:15

Thanks for sharing this. Are the Royals really weighed in pre and post Xmas lunch for tradition's sake? Or a joke/tongue-in-cheek, how absurd.
