I've embarrassed for Meghan saying that her arranging takeaway food on a plate is the same thing as what Figs Heather Hasson has done 😬

Fair but few go as far. I’m not a particular fan but she’s certainly achieved, her Uni place alone, impressive. I don’t disagree with most of other points you’ve made. I think she set out to achieve a particular set of goals & by and large has got there.

"Few go as far"? As 'far' as what? Married to a balding, bitter man child of a prince and flogging clothes online?

Lots of people get places in good unis. Big deal. I did and so, I'm sure, did many others on this thread. And some of us have actually done something with our education. I'm sure there many people on this thread have also achieved a lot in their professional and personal lives. Just because they're not rich or famous, it doesn't mean they haven't gone far in their lives.

For someone who's not a fan of Meghan, you seem awfully impressed with her vacuous, shallow 'achievements'.

We’re all judging, maybe (?) by what we deem to be noble goals & ambitions. Has she got, by standards of most, unlimited funds?

Can anyone win a place at NW? Etc. No. Surely the latter at least respect worthy even if you dislike her (?)

So basically, being rich, even though the wealth was mostly gained through her husband's inheritance, is some great achievement? That's how you measure an individual's value as a person?

And while she's probably a lot richer than most of us here, in the scheme of things she's really not that rich at all, especially as it's not obvious where any future funds are going to come from.

And to be frank, given the lack of intellect she's displayed over the past few years, I don't think getting a degree at a respected uni is something amazing either. And as I said, millions of people have an excellent education which they actually put to good use.

Do you 'respect' all these people too? Or only if they scale the giddy heights of marrying a petulant prince and flogging flower sprinkles on the internet?

Weepixie · 01/06/2025 18:03

All of this manifestation nonsense 🙄.

Let’s just give it its proper term.

She was (and still is) a gold digger.

I am not saying it’s my value or yours, but from what I’ve seen of her what your outline in first para might well be hers. Yes, in that case, goal met, mission accomplished.

Winning a place at a good Uni no mean feat but take point. Guess I am hoping she proves everyone wrong in time & at least she’s trying to finance lifestyle, what’s H doing?

Her uni days were over 20 years ago, which are you so obsessed?
”Goal met, mission accomplished” is such obvious nonsense I don’t know why you’ve even bothering, tbh.

Me neither. To say she’d never accomplished or achieved anything of any value though? (Reason flagged Uni & winning role etc).

‘Value’ might be subjective but IMO she’s simply achieved much of which she hoped for & set out to get.

On an absolute basis M has improved her situation from being a renter in Toronto with no car to her fancier life in Montecito. But on a relative basis, which is what matters to M, she is a pauper in Montecito begging for private jet rides and striving for access to billionaire circles.

She has not met her goals of winning against the royal family by becoming the USA Royal Family and is falling further away from this goal by the day. All in all, I think the high-water mark was the wedding and it has been all downhill for M.

Unlimited funds? Aside from H's inheritance, H's book and gossip on H's family in the Netflix reality series, what has M brought to the table? All of M's commercial endeavors have failed from the kid's book, podcasts, lifestyle show and products. Even H&M's PR is admitting that any Netflix renewal will be on far less generous terms.

All the while, H&M's baseline costs to support the "white elephant" mansion will continue to rise as inflation bites in the USA. H&M will soon face massive tuition bills for elite schooling for their kids, and that's before extracurriculars (e.g. ski trip / sailing / horse riding).

And all this because of envy. What a mess!

Agree. What’s next? Possibly she’ll opt for reality TV show on her terms? (If she can get them). What can generate the requisite income?

RandyRedHumpback · 01/06/2025 18:49

Meghan went to one of the top private schools in LA. I would be no more impressed at her getting into Northwestern than I would with someone from Eton getting into a second tier university in the UK. Especially doing a drama degree.

The longer their estrangement from the RF , the less value they have and let’s face it, it’s the Royal gossip that the majority of people want to hear.
The other thing is that so much of what they have previously said has been untrue .

She’s living with mega millions in sunny Montecito, it beats a pebble dash pre war semi in the arse end of nowhere in mizzly UK. She’s won life’s lotto as far as many are concerned. I’d kill for that garden alone & the wardrobe :). She’s not doing too badly.

But she was never living in a "a pebble dash pre war semi in the arse end of nowhere in mizzly UK" was she?

In the UK she was living in a Grade II listed house on the Windsor Estate that was renovated to her specifications at a cost of £2.4 million - with household staff, gardeners, drivers, security, cars, travel etc all paid for. A fully staffed office to plan official projects and deal with correspondence etc. An allowance of £2 million a year to pay other expenses and clothing ... and all they needed to do in return was to turn up of a couple of official engagements a week. If they had stayed they would have been offered a country mansion as well.

It was a uber wealthy lifestyle. I think that H&M had no idea how much it would cost to replicate this lifestyle and chucked it all away to chase A-list status in the US.

True, What’s next & how do they create it?

Serenster · 01/06/2025 19:23

I did think Meghan setting herself up as in influencer and launching a brand was a good idea to generate a sustainable business venture. It might not make them mega-rich, but could give them a good income with an aim to building up a brand that she could look to sell and cash out in time.

It’s a competitive market though, and Meghan’s business plans and launches have been, to be charitable, bumpy to date. I do wonder whether this is another opportunity that will fizzle out.

IMHO, the root cause of M's failures will persist if not addressed no matter the project.

To recap:
Palace sources: H&M did not listen to expert advice and treated staff badly
Spotify: H&M did not listen to expert advice and treated staff badly
Vanity Fair (which included Netflix sources): H&M do not listen to expert advice and treat staff badly

Reality TV is a business where H&M need to listen to expert advice. What is the vision? What is the market positioning: warm and family friendly (Anthony Bourdain) or messy and "authentic" (Real Housewives)? H&M need to manage staff to execute the project* *(production assistants, location scouts, writers, audio/visual guys, stage crafters, actors, catering, admin staff, merch people, etc.).

Any business/project that generates enough income to support a Montecito lifestyle will inevitably require a team of skilled people. And will need a leader who can manage that team. IMHO, neither H nor have any management abilities. After the Vanity Fair articles, I doubt H&M can hire skilled individuals to execute their projects, as top-tier talent will steer clear of H&M's drama.

Lots of people win places at good unis. I'll bet many of the posters here are way better educated than Meghan, and have actually used their education for something positive.

Why are you so impressed by a feat achieved by millions of people? It's not like Meghan has done anything with her degree, or shown any sign of intellectual curiosity. Quite the opposite.

Indeed but - as I have said before- the beautiful house on Windsor Estate , the staff, £2 million allowance etc wasn’t enough so long as they had to walk behind William and Catherine.

Why are you so sure there will be a 'next'?

We are talking about two middle aged individuals with no marketable talents or skills. Their only real selling point - and it was an excellent one - was their royal connection, and that has already diminished massively in the past five years and will continue to do so.

The world isn't on tenterhooks waiting for these talentless individuals to do something 'next'. They had their chance and they blew it.

@My2cents1975 above made a very good point.

Compared to her youth, and compared to most 'ordinary' people, Meghan is very wealthy. But compared to her neighbours in Montecito, she's nothing of the sort. These are the people she compares herself to, and so she will consider herself lacking. So I'd say she's also the embodiment of 'comparison is the thief of joy'.
