Happy 10th birthday to Princess Charlotte.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have released an image via Instagram to mark the occasion. Photo taken by Catherine (apparently using an iPhone).

Never mind all the evidence that they are clearly an outdoorsy family.

As I said earlier, I have a Jack Pyke fleece in the same pattern (English Oak). Can confirm it's very nice. And I can confirm it does work to camouflage you in a deciduous wood forest environment - if that's not the definition of camo, I'm not sure what is!

Think it cost me £20 on offer, for whoever said it is an expensive posh brand 🤣 back in 2020 when I was cold while WFH. Who knew I was 5 years ahead of royal fashion!

Edited

P.s. for 'very nice' read warm. It's just a bog standard fleece fabric. It's not extra thick, french seams, lined with silk and with an ostrich leather hoodie cord. The company caters to low-paid beaters, they're not royally appointed. Long may it last, I love a decent outdoor company that doesn't charge mad amounts of money.

It’s not camo. It doesn’t even look much like camo!!!

It depends on what the camo is. You seem to be thinking war ? Camo is often for nature.

Charlotte on the cover of People magazine

and a lovely write up too.

I do hate the whole “growing up” “mature beyond her years” narrative. And also the suggestion that she “keeps her brothers in line.”

She’s 10! Just 10,too- last week she was 9. A child. A primary school child. And apart from anything else, they wouldn’t be talking like that about her if she was a boy.

I actually agree with you here , it’s not the place for a sibling to parent another sibling and it’s always girls usually on the receiving end.

NewAgeNewMe · 06/05/2025 17:35

Agreed @CurlewKate

they have charlotte pegged as the next Princess Anne when no one knows what she may actually want to become.

RandyRedHumpback · 04/05/2025 14:39

You made a comment - a wholly unnecessary one - that others quite rightly interpreted as snide. I think that interpretation is probably correct, considering your subsequent nonsensical distinction between "sporty" and "outdoorsy".

Edited

give over you two I can’t even work out what either of you are getting so het up about.

Uricon2 · 06/05/2025 17:39

I agree too @CurlewKate . There was a similar discussion about Louis being identified for eternity as "the naughty one" because he got a bit bored and pulled faces when aged 4 and this is in a similar vein.

Slightly hopeful Charlotte is the first Goth princess and Louis becomes an astrophysicist but basically think they should just not be pigeonholed!

(ETA there were probably lots of Goth princesses in the day but you know what I mean)

Not to rehash but I get it!!!
to paraphrase… for no reason poster feels compelled to state that despite photo , she doesn’t feel it’s really representative of an outdoor family, but previously she had pooh poohed Catherine’s scout pictures and said it was irrelevant, then apparently outed herself as some sort of scout adjacent leader !

I don't think it's insulting to say she is " the glue" in the trio. It compares her to the Late Queen too which is a compliment of the highest degree.

BodenCardiganNot · 07/05/2025 13:03

Last year she was on the cover of Hello magazine being praised for her kindness and her beautiful manners (inherited from her mother).

I don’t think any of it is “insulting”. I just think it’s an unfair and inappropriate way to talk about a child. And that includes comparing g her to the late Queen!

No you were suggesting it was not right because she was female. You said something about they wouldn't say this if she was a boy.

That as well. They wouldn’t talk about her like that if she was a boy. But my primary objection was talking about a child in those circumstances terms.

Except you didn't state that was your point so it ended up as just another excuse to comment adversely about Charlotte. If you really believed in your stated principle you wouldn't be here talking about whether she is outdoorsy or sporty or anything.

I absolutely did state that was my point. In the post that you quoted and commented on at 00.29 this morning! I have NEVER said anything negative about Charlotte.

crumblingschools · 07/05/2025 15:32

@CurlewKate you have been very negative about the William and Kate though

A bit negative I agree. I‘m not a monarchist. But not on this thread. And it is allowed, you know!

foreverblowingbubbless · 07/05/2025 15:50

Any advance on " never said anything negative " and then " a bit negative"
😂

I have never said anything negative about Charlotte.

On other threads I have been a bit negative about William and Catherine. Because I am not a Royalist. Which is allowed.

Uricon2 · 07/05/2025 16:53

I know @CurlewKate doesn't need me to defend her but while we have some very different views on Kate and William and Meghan and Harry, I haven't seen her be negative about Charlotte.

The dangers of the next generation of royal kids being pigeonholed and stereotyped like members of a teen band (" the shy one" "the sporty one" "the zany one") is an interesting discussion IMO.

foreverblowingbubbless · 07/05/2025 18:27

But @Uricon2 being perpetuated by people who say it shouldn't be happening ? But they still talk about it ? That doesn't make sense.
