Princess Charlotte’s 10th birthday - new photo

Happy 10th birthday to Princess Charlotte.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have released an image via Instagram to mark the occasion. Photo taken by Catherine (apparently using an iPhone).

It's hardly surprising or refreshing that Charlotte likes outdoor persuits - it would be counter-cultural to be a perfectly groomed, damsel-in-distress princess at this point in history.

Given all the pink princess clothes and bedrooms I don't agree. The UK is not generally renowned for its girls, or boys, being keen on hiking and the outdoors.

I don’t actually think of the Wales’ as a particularly outdoorsy family-a walk in the woods is the most we’ve seen. I remember Charles doing outdoors stuff in Australia many years ago, though. It does look as if Charlotte was enjoying her day though-getting that sort of a smile out of a reluctant 10 year old would be quite a challenge!

Try telling that to the poster who bashed the birthday girl’s mum first…

I have never in my life seen people hiking in the Lake District in camo gear.

That tends to be reserved for angling and hunting.

But why lower yourself and join in? It ruins threads like this and should all be called out. You don’t have to do it just because someone else does.

What on earth has Meghan got to do with a birthday picture of 10 yo Charlotte?
I honestly think some posters literally cannot cope with any royal thread unless there is a Meghan sarky comment, so I agree with @Samcro

Why lower myself? What did I say that was wrong? Is she not leaning into the whole tradwife aesthetic with her brand and farm to table life style show? Does she not make jam? How is that a bash?

It seems that unless you are gushing over her the stans will come and accuse you of bashing.

Apart from the ski-ing, the biking (don’t you remember William caught on video angry at a man who was stalking his family in Norfolk as they went on a bike ride?) we’ve also seen both William and Kate confidently play football and hockey and tennis respectively, not to mention all the outdoors sports they have happily taken part in on visits. Goodness knows what an outdoorsy family would look like in your world!
