Happy 10th birthday to Princess Charlotte.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have released an image via Instagram to mark the occasion. Photo taken by Catherine (apparently using an iPhone).

Yh. I think it's altered more then photoshopped as if the picture came out blurry but they were able to fix the face by zooming out & keeping the background original (? If that makes sense)

I don't think it's as dodgy as the mothers day card or as ridiculous as her ad for private health insurance post-cancer video

It's a lovely photo, and not too princessy at all.

I'm seeing a lot of her Dad in her, with some of her maternal grandmother too. I also agree that she is very similar to Lady Sarah Chatto, who is a cousin (2nd?) to William and the daughter of the late Princess Margaret.

I highly doubt that it has been photoshopped after the last fiasco (the Mother's Day one), which you'd have to have been living under a rock to miss.

And what crazy theory have came up with to explain why that might be?

No theory. Someone else suggested it’s just ‘portrait mode’. To me there’s a clear distinction in focus between face and the rest of the photo.

I can’t say why she isn’t wearing colourful clothes if that is what is typical for hiking, but all the articles I’ve read says they were on a family hiking trip somewhere in Cumbria and she has hiking gear 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hopefully then, but it would be unusual to wear camouflage clothing for hiking.

I’m not sure they would tell us if they were hunting though as it wouldn’t go down well with a lot of the public now.

I think that's a jacket from Jack Pyke - I have a similar oak camo thing in fleece. It's a hunting brand, but also works for birdwatching/not being spotted miles away (I don't hunt).

It’s juvenile to take a jab at her mother on her daughter’s 10th birthday by bringing up a charity fashion show she took part in at 19, during university. For the record, that show is still held annually. And no, she didn’t “snare” him with it—that’s just a tabloid myth. By that point, they were already close friends and didn’t start dating until later.

The last birthday photo thread of Louis got deleted didn’t it? Don’t rise to it as this one will too. Whatever your thoughts are on the Royal family, Charlotte and her siblings are children and there is really no need for threads showing their birthday photos to get nasty.

There's nothing wrong with girls liking 'princessy' things but for a real Princess, it's probably in her best interests if she's not 'pigeon-holed' as being pretty and dainty and agreeable and that kind of thing. We've seen how the public narrative that springs up around royal children can harm them and the less stereotyped it is, the better, in my view.

For what it's worth, I'm not personally a very 'girly' person at all. But I started following royal news a long time ago for some 'girly' escapism. I love the tiaras, the fashion, the bags, etc. But for the royal people themselves, finding balance is likely important.

Although I'm cheering on Charlotte's current image of being outdoorsy and sporty, I'll also cheer when I see her first photo wearing a tiara!

She is so sweet! I used to be Republican but now I think a slimmed down Swedish style monarchy would be best. George, Charlotte & Louis, I think, will be lovely if they continue like this.

I've seen a photo of a pissed off Diana when she was about 12, with shorter hair. Even with a different hairstyle and expression, the resemblance is very strong.

I always think she looks quite old for her age. This is not a criticism but it’s interesting as she’s a few months younger than mine but she looks so much older.

I am not a Royals "fan" BUT I do like William, Kate and the Children .

Sure she was lucky, born into a life of Middle to Upper Classism but Kates own Mother certainly did not . I doubt her Mother, when young, dreamed this could happen
