Would anyone like to join me in my attempt to unite the board and discuss our favourite royal outfits (before it enviably turns into another bun fight 🤣)

I’ll start with my favourite Catherine outfits first…

I do wonder if we will see Catherine being a little more adventurous in her styling when she becomes Queen, and doesn't have to think about not upstaging the more senior Royals.

sofasoda · 25/04/2025 15:47

@babymamalove yes I liked Ms fashion when she was in the RF and it was refreshing to see it done in a more fashion forward way.

sofasoda · 25/04/2025 15:53

@bluegreygreen I would love that, it's weird she gets overwhelmed by prints and they wear her. Dress wise she looks better in maxi or above the knee so I guess that makes it hard to find day dresses.

Vespanest · 25/04/2025 15:53

Meghan looked at her best when in and before the Royal family, I don't think Meghan has adapted her clothes to her new shape. I don't understand the beige when colours really suit her. Catherine is safe but I could imagine the late Queen expecting that of her more than others. She has also spent her adult life doing this and being dissected with every outfit. I do admire Beatrice style

sofasoda · 25/04/2025 15:55

What has happened to Ms shape?! I think she is just doing the beige thing because it's on trend, she obviously likes fashion

Hoolihan · 25/04/2025 15:59

These are my favourites from Kate. Meghan's evening wedding dress was an absolute stunner.

I don't like that pink dress (one in the photo with tiny charlotte )

Catherine is tall and slim (and shaped like a model) so most things look good on her. The only problem was she used to be a bit more conservative in her dress due to her position and most likely the influence of the Queen. It made her look a bit frumpy and old fashioned (God i hate most coat dresses). Ever since Charles has become King I think she has become a little more confident and daring in her style. I’m preferring her blazer and slim jeans/trousers combination.

Ive not really liked many of Meghan’s outfits since she’s left the royal family. I think she’s struggled with her changing body type (like we all do post partum) and whilst she has lovely long legs and toned arms, her torso is short compared to her limbs. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this, it’s just that she can look a little boxy if she doesn’t pick the right styles. Her problem seems to be that she doesn’t get things tailored to her shape and picks materials that crease easily, so it makes her looks unpolished. She suits crisp shirts and casual jeans, as well as colourful shift dresses.

My biggest annoyance with a Meghan is that she doesn’t embrace colour. I wouldn’t even be that bothered as beige/brown/cream clearly fit the quiet luxury aesthetic she’s going for, but the fact that she complained she couldn’t wear colour in the royal family and made a big deal about embracing colour/wearing a rainbow on her leaving engagements and then going back to boring beige/tan/cream is frustrating. I had such high hopes for her and I’m still waiting for that one wow outfit (a la Catherine’s gold Bond dress/Prince Philip funeral outfit).

Catherine's gold dress was an absolute moment.

IMHO, C's attention to tailoring is what makes her clothing drape perfectly even when I do not like the brand (Erdem generally makes me cringe). Her team does a fantastic job of ensuring that C wears an outfit appropriate to the occasion.

IMHO, outstanding looks are the pale blue dress from the Spectre Bond premiere, the green evening dress from the Pakistan tour, the cream Sezane two piece from a university visit and the red McQueen coat with tartan scarf.

This one rather gave me Wallis Simpson vibes when I first saw it. I haven't been able to find a full length image where she isn't carrying Charlotte.

Not sure I'd have chosen a shade that would show every mark when there were small children around!

I think that was at Pippa’s wedding. I don’t like it either, I think it’s not great around the breasts - just the cut/draping of it.

She normally looks so good.

I think she purposely dresses conservatively at other people’s wedding as she doesn’t want to steal the limelight from the bride.

Camilla at the state banquet on their recent visit to Italy.

I think that is why she mostly dresses conservatively. She doesn’t want the attention to be on her clothes. I mean, they always
get commented on anyway, but maybe she doesn’t want to add to the fuss. The gold dress was an exception because it was a film
premiere, that er than an event about other people iyswim

I have noticed that Camilla basically wears the same dress in lots of different materials and trims and colours. Such a good idea to find a shape that suits you and stick to it.

I agree. I also think it was a relief to finally be post-covid and gather together again in public. And it was also a relief to have a big premiere with a massive movie franchise that helped revive the UK film industry post-covid.

Catherine's gold dress certainly met the moment!

Yes, the dress she wore at the banquet for the South Korean state visit was similar style, but in red.

That’s pretty much what the late Queen did as well. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it 🤷‍♀️

Absolutely. I wish I could find my shape, mind you I wouldn't be able to afford a personal dressmaker so it would remain a wish

JoyousEagle · 25/04/2025 17:46

I also liked Camilla’s dress at that premiere, but obviously Kate’s fab gold one took all attention.

Guess my favourite colour! Love both of these looks.

Its is a misconception that tall & slim
means you care wear what you what. It's the proportions that matter. In Kate's case she has a longer torso which is why she looks better in high waistlines. She is very narrow torso, waist, & hip wise so she has to be careful with necklines and sleeves cuts which is why the gold dress, ruffled green dress works so well.
