Would anyone like to join me in my attempt to unite the board and discuss our favourite royal outfits (before it enviably turns into another bun fight 🤣)

I’ll start with my favourite Catherine outfits first…

They're really lovely

PrinceYakimov · 24/04/2025 23:14

I love Meghan's second wedding dress too - I wish that could have been her real one. Also love the yellow shift dress on her and the turquoise umbrella photo one.

My favourite on Kate is her Andrew Gn outfit from Trooping the Colour a few years ago - the hat was <chef's kiss> She is also for some reason a total knock-out in Italian designers - love her in Gucci and D&G. I wish she would wear more Italian fashion.

Camilla's military outfits deserve a mention too!

Loving this thread!

Loved the simple green dress Meghan wore for her engagement interview.

They're really lovely

I love them and they're really lovely to wear too. I miss Links of London! I have lots of their pieces!

sofasoda · 25/04/2025 06:39

I can't add anymore photos but love Meghan in her cape dresses & bright colours and she has worn some great hats. Love her casual looks eg the ripped jeans too.

Some great photos of Anne on here, always loved the queen in bright colours.

I'm not really a fan of Kate's style, a bit old for me and I often think she gets her proportions off particularly in lower waists and trousers but she looks fantastic in most of her evening looks particularly when wearing Jenny Packham, love her in greens and blues too. Also has had some great hat action.

My favourite, she looks stunning

This is my favourite. Everything about it is perfect.

I don’t recall that dress, all I remember is the coat she wore over it. Lovely colour on her and that style of neckline really suits her. She has lovely arms.

Some of my favourite Meghan looks where she got the proportions absolutely right for her figure, and looked stunning. I also think she looks amazing in jewel colours - these just happen to be neutrals though.

And Kate has so many great tailored, formal and evening wear looks, so I’ve picked three more casual outfits - all of which I would happily wear myself (oh, to have that gorgeous pink Chloe blazer in my wardrobe!)

I love Catherine's formal outfits. She manages to be appropriate to the occasion yet still a bit fun. Her height is an obvious advantage.

And a lot of Kate’s more formal dressing is very safe, which makes the times she wears something more adventurous (and pulls it off - she has had some real misses!) noteworthy.

I love those three you posted too, themightysossidge. I loved the red outfit, because a cape, a big hat and giant red bow definitely aren’t “safe”!

Lascivious · 25/04/2025 09:37

I agree. It was fabulous.

I also loved Meghan’s evening wedding dress, it was stunning.

I don’t tend to like Kate’s style, although she always looks perfect, it’s a bit too prim for me.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 25/04/2025 09:44

Some Sophie love

She looks stunning in white.

Also I love this photo of Catherine and Sophie 🤭

Some love for Sophie from me too, here in colours. She can look amazing when she dressed up with a hat for Ascot or similar, but she also wears some lovely layers (especially in winter white with tan boots) and more casual outfits

Loving the outfits.

I am very fond of Sophie's style. She doesn't always get it right but I find her more relatable as a middle aged woman. Catherine always looks immaculate and appropriate but she is so tall and slim, whilst I am neither, her style is unobtainable.

I usually like Meghan's casual looks and she looks great in shift dresses.

I can't link images but I loved Sophie at the late Queen's funeral and Catherine at a Commonwealth Service in an outfit with tiny flowers embroidered over it. Meghan's yellow shift dress upthread was lovely on her and her dress with the birds was very Grace Kelly in Rear Window.

HonoriaBulstrode · 25/04/2025 11:02

Catherine has to tread a fine line. She has to maintain a certain amount of dignity at formal events, because of her position. She mustn't upstage the Queen if she's with the Queen or the guests of honour at a state occasion or the bride at a wedding. If she's on a visit somewhere she needs to be sure the focus will be on the people she's come to meet rather than on what she's wearing. She needs to favour British designers and if she buys ready made she needs to be sure it wasn't made in a sweatshop somewhere.

sofasoda · 25/04/2025 11:25

Kate could definitely be a bit more modern & relevant whilst still toeing the line (let the super skinny jeans and big wedges go 😆) but she doesn't seem interested in fashion which is fair enough.

MrsFinkelstein · 25/04/2025 14:09

2 of my favourite Catherine looks.

I miss Meghan for her chic-ness and fashion forward looks.

Kate always looks perfect, but so very dull. Sometimes, she can be downright frumpy (that blue dress with the bow).

Extiainoiapeial · 25/04/2025 14:24

Gosh, that blue dress is a monstrosity. Here she is with Sophie wearing similar, they look like a couple of Amish wives.

Kate can look fabulous, but not in that!

Meghan had some really great looks when she was in the RF.

But since she left I don’t like her style at all. So beige and blah - beige doesn’t suit her at all, she suits blacks, whites and deep jewel colours.

I agree that Kate can look a little frumpy. Diana wore a few outfits which bordered on frumpy but she still managed to look very chic - I don’t know how she did it!

Not a good look for either of them!

All the younger royals look well in jeans and casual, sporty clothes I think.

Sophie has more hits than misses. Anne is Anne so always looks right for her, anything other would be an instant miss.

William I love in a check shirt, particularly blue and white!

The most talked of women.

Meghan looks gorgeous in a halter, her second wedding dress was amazing, she wears quite a variety, so has more misses amongst the hits. I think she looks most comfortable in jeans and a white baggy shirt.

Catherine is a puzzle. She looks great in casuals and a blazer or sports gear. She look stunning in very formal (either tailored coats and suites or stunning evening gowns) but seems to miss with the day dress, I get that she has to look classy and conservative for her position, but that seems a shame as the odd summer tea dress looks fabulous. Its getting better as she gets older, maybe as she grows into the clothes? Love her in a wide brimmed hat though, I love them anyway but she wears them amazingly.

sofasoda · 25/04/2025 15:38

wowsers I have never seen that peach dress on Kate, it's awful imo! both those blue dresses are frumpy.
