Would anyone like to join me in my attempt to unite the board and discuss our favourite royal outfits (before it enviably turns into another bun fight 🤣)

I’ll start with my favourite Catherine outfits first…

That yellow just posted is perfect as the waist is high, she hasn't cut off the leg with an ankle strap, the sleeves are a good shape and the ruching and extra fabric add some
weight.

sofasoda · 25/04/2025 17:53

M has great shoulders and arms and looks really good in halters & sleeveless.

Yes that yellow dress is lovely. She wore it again at the Wimbledon finals one year.

I agree. She wore an off the shoulder dress to (I think) trooping the colour which was nice.

Sophie can be adventurous with her style, but she has cornered the market on the floral dress, steadily knocking this out of the park. She can also work the pant suits / suit separates look.

M has a shorter torso and has longer limbs as pp said she she looks good in clean lines & longer lengths & highlighting her arms & shoulders

sofasoda · 25/04/2025 18:06

Sophie has got more attractive as she's ages, wonder what her secret is. She does have a good bone structure which always helps.

I've always loved Lady Sarah Chatto's wedding dress

I agree. Her dress was the best of the bunch by a mile.

Catherine is tall and slim (and shaped like a model) so most things look good on her.

Its is a misconception that tall & slim
means you care wear what you what. It's the proportions that matter. In Kate's case she has a longer torso which is why she looks better in high waistlines. She is very narrow torso, waist, & hip wise so she has to be careful with necklines and sleeves cuts which is why the gold dress, ruffled green dress works so well.

I agree with this post completely. Kate’s long torso means she has to think about waistlines carefully (I have a similar figure - I learned in the 80s for example that dropped waistlines are not my friend, unless I want to look like I have comically short legs). In this photo she’s gone for both the dropped waist and the emphasised shoulders, and … it’s not her best look, I say kindly.

I want to know how they have the will to keep their lovely figures. They must have an iron will which I don’t have. Currently eaten my body weight in Doritos and chocolate.

Who would look good in that frumpy affair though?

I’d get my legs out more if I hate Kate’s gorgeous figure. That dress posted upthread (pale blue with skirt affair at the back) was jaw dropping.

sofasoda · 25/04/2025 18:21

@Serenster yeah drop waists are not your friend 😆

Did anyone eat on their wedding day? I couldn't & it takes a lot to keep me off food. Felt sick & anxious, I reckon celebs feel like that a lot!

I imagine just thinking of the social media and tabloid comments if she were to put on weight will help.

sofasoda · 25/04/2025 18:27

You can see how much length Kate has in her torso when she sits next to William, they are similar height.

I find proportions fascinating, I used to model (badly) & we could all be similar heights but look very different. One of my closest ex model friends is a similar height to me but as a gorgeous long neck whereas my shoulders just keep going!

True.

Pre menopause, I was extremely lucky to be able to eat what I wanted and stay very slim , I'm tall 5ft 9 and was a size 8 ,my sister was the same, she's still very slim and fit , me not so much now!

NewAgeNewMe · 25/04/2025 18:48

I blame turning 60!
that and my greed! 🤣

HonoriaBulstrode · 25/04/2025 18:51

And William's height is mostly in his legs, so when he sits down he loses a lot of it. George looks as if he will be the same.

Extiainoiapeial · 25/04/2025 14:24

Gosh, that blue dress is a monstrosity. Here she is with Sophie wearing similar, they look like a couple of Amish wives.

Kate can look fabulous, but not in that!

I really like Catherine's dress here, Sophie's does her no favours. Some of this is just personal taste but I think that working with our bodies definitely helps.

KingOfPoundbury · 25/04/2025 19:00

This is mine... one cannot recall what happened to one's brogues! One thinks that they were kicked orf after having that third (yes third!) cherry brandy.

I was going to argue the toss with everyone then until I saw that low waisted dress 🫣🤣 There’s not a lot that Catherine doesn’t look good in but that is an abomination 🤣

Lady Louise Windsor seems incredibly sweet and I think will be known as a woman of superb style in a few years.

I loved Lady Louise in this dress at the coronation. I think I read somewhere that it was one of her mum's old ones. She's clearly inherited the ability to wear a print well!
