Would anyone like to join me in my attempt to unite the board and discuss our favourite royal outfits (before it enviably turns into another bun fight 🤣)

I’ll start with my favourite Catherine outfits first…

I confess to not being a RF fan, but I admit to enjoying this thread and looking at all the photos!

One thing that fascinates me is how the heck do they wear those skyscraper heels, I'd need a stepladder to get into them, and the fire brigade to get me down. Not to mention someone on either side of me clutching my elbow if I attempted to walk in them 😊

Regarding Camilla, who is someone I think has kept true to herself, her dresses to me, all look the same, like shifts under the bust. I don't think I can recall many that are a little more fitted, but probably on more formal occasions like gala balls and the like. Some of her dresses look a bit dowdy to me, but honestly..... comfort over style any day, and she does look good for her vintage.

I believe there is a certain way you have to walk in heels like this. I have tried them on and couldn't even stand up never mind walk in them! I understand it takes practice otherwise you can look a bit like an emu on the loose.

I think it’s a lot of practise and doing it heel-toe. I’m surprised there haven’t been more incidents to be honest, especially when they’re walking on cobbles.

Remember when Catherine got her heel stuck in the grid? She remained very composed as she struggled to get it back out, more composed than I have been in similar situations 🤣🫣

My dsis is an expert in heels. I have to wear flats or block/wedges.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 26/05/2025 14:23

It looks like Catherine was a big fan of fancy dress before she joined the Royal Family. She looks amazing in the roller disco outfit.

I’ve gone down the fancy dress rabbit hole now 🤣 Beatrice’s 18th birthday was a Victorian inspired ball. I must admit but Beatrice looks stunning 😍

These are fun but I think Eugenie’s has the edge for Mad Max dystopia vibes

Walking in heels is one thing...sliding at Legoland in heels is another level.

Very brave of Catherine with all the photographers who would have splashed her across all the front pages if she'd failed to stick the landing!

I hate seeing those 18th b/d party pics. Also present was one paedophile, one sex trafficker, and a sex offender and rapist. All dressed up in their fancy dress. And attending this party at Windsor Castle.

On a brighter note, I wonder if Kate looks back on those carefree days wistfully....

Serenster · 26/05/2025 11:21

Here you are CurlewKate - she wore it to two different events in Canada.

Thank you! I wonder if any of the younger Royal women ever asked if they could borrow some of those amazing frocks and if so, why didn’t they?

Beatrice wore one of the late Queen’s dresses for her wedding .,

ARichtGoodDram · 26/05/2025 16:41

I often wonder if Beatrice and Sophie shared/swapped this dress or just both happened to have it.

Sophie wore it to Ascot and then Beatrice to Trooping the colour the following year. Beatrice wore it again (with the addition of a belt) at Easter a couple of years after.

It was a nice sentiment but a dreadful frock.

I wonder at what point she decided to give up eating, so she could be rake thin, rather than just slim. If it's not an ED, then her fear of being papped looking "fat" must be off the scale.

Weepixie · 16/06/2025 09:34

The POW looks absolutely radiant, a picture of excellent health and happiness. No one who’s chosen to stop eating or has an ED looks the way she does.

Rubbish.

I say this as the wife and mother of extremely thin people who eat like horses and remain healthy, fit but thin. They are ectomorphs and in today's society with bodies getting larger they stick out more and more. Catherine obviously eats healthily and exercises and shows no signs of any disordered eating. She is just naturally thin.

bluegreygreen · 16/06/2025 09:55

A person who started off tall and slim and exercises regularly (public information - she goes running) has recently had a serious illness for which the treatment included surgery and chemotherapy.

I wonder why she has remained slim?

I am pretty sure her sister has a nutrition qualification. I think they are just healthy living people. That’s why I found it so shocking when she was diagnosed with cancer.

Catherine has great muscle tone - her arm and leg muscles are well defined (look at when she played tennis with Roger Federer for example, wears a sleeveless dress or goes yachting with shorts on).

You don’t get, and then maintain, toned muscles without ensuring that you are eating enough food. Lifting weights (as she obviously does) elevates your metabolic rate, so you burn more calories than you usually would afterwards, plus the more lean muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn even at rest. Add in cardio exercise, and Kate will be able to eat plenty of food and maintain her current weight. She essentially has the body of an athlete.

I hate this. Kate has a perfect figure. She’s slim and extremely toned, not remotely ‘rake’ like.

You seem to have forgotten that Catherine had cancer treatment for an unknown source detected after abdominal surgery. We have no idea what exactly her condition is but she may well suffer from some kind of gastric or malabsorption complications and I think it is nasty to say what you have. You're just having a dig.

I have been reading these threads for ages and ages (when did they start?) and they have always been really different to other RF or AIBU threads. Just chat about clothes and jewels. No gossip, no critical comments and nothing about weight or appearance etc.

I enjoy gossip as much as the next person and have been known to make comments about appearance but I really really appreciated the tone of these threads. I knew I could just look at pictures of clothes with no nastiness. It is perfectly possible to do that. Just follow the principle of ‘if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all’ There are more than enough spaces to carry on the Wales/SS sniping talk on MN, Tattle or Daily Mail comments section. Just leave this thread free of that stuff! 🙏🏼

I wonder if you're thinking about the Royal Threads in Style and Beauty?
I think they generally avoid nastiness and are nearly all about style/fashion/tiaras 😍 etc
AFAIK, there haven't been regular Royal Style threads in the RF section. I may be wrong and there have been but, sadly, it seems a lot harder to avoid unpleasantness creeping in to threads on the RF section. You're right, it would good if even just one thread here could be amiable, but...
Not saying don't read this one too, obviously or telling people where to post - just trying to be helpful, but you may get more pleasure from Royal Style: Trooping and Tennis, here we come! which is the current one on Style and Beauty.

ARainyNightInSoho · 16/06/2025 15:13

@LaMarschallin you’re right!

OMG, embarrassing. I got my threads mixed up. Sorry! 🫢
