The royal family

Why is Sarah Ferguson at the Easter service?

I am really perplexed about why SF attends all Royal events since the death of the Queen when Andrew
is present. She behaves like his wife but she isn’t his wife. What on earth is going on? I cannot think of another situation like this where an ex wife lives with her ex husband and attends all public events with him as though they are still married. It’s bizarre.

Are you always this snide and snippy?

Are you?

I rather think that there are very few who "defer and idolise". However most of us like criticism to be fair and evidenced!

But why do you care so much? I really am curious? I am not bothered whether the Royals go to church but I'm not a Royalist. If someone is bothered and feels they should be there why is their opinion wrong?

You seemed very concerned when you thought William didn’t attend church earlier in this thread!

What horrible comments?

@PrettyFlyforaMaiTai I don't believe I ever said he should be at church?. I just disagreed with the fact he wasn't there because Kate was ill or he had the trots or that he was making a strand against Andrew.

But why are you so bothered about that when you just said you weren't bothered in general? As you are not a royalist 🤔

Re. H&M

What that got to do with factually incorrect correct criticism of William not attending church when he actually did?

Extiainoiapeial · 21/04/2025 10:52

^This. They use them all the time. It's just that it's covered up as much as possible. There is someone who shows footage of them jumping in and out of helicopters regularly. I think it is in Windsor or Kensington Palace, can't remember.

And yes, they could have stayed in their Windsor home to attend if they wanted to, no helicopter then!

Where's the footage?

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 16:33

Oh I think the whole Royal family thing and the way some of the public bow and scrape to them for no other reason other than the fact they are Royal is completely fascinating. I think the whole psychology of the H&M situation and people taking it as personal rejection is so interesting.

I mean the very fact this thread was started by someone who was more perplexed that SF was at church as opposed to Andy popping up again is wild.

Enlighten me, why do you care so much?

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 16:34

Perhaps it's because I got an A in psychology!

Pot calling the kettle black, tbh!

Well yes, Andrew is part of the royal family (albeit a social pariah) whereas Sarah Ferguson is no longer an official member. It is odd she attended a church service as a royal, they seem to have a strange relationship and people are naturally curious.

If Andrew is church going Christian; he is entitled to attend church and worship with his family (albeit he could have been discreet but clearly he doesn’t want to).

Strangely enough, I don’t think H&M were brought up often in this thread. It was more a pile on about William not attending church (and then it was discovered he did in fact attend church). And I don’t think many people do bow and scrape to the royals these days, but there is definitely a fascination around them, it’s a modern day soap opera. I would say more people seem to bow and scrape to H&M if I’m being completely honest (the Sussex squad seem insane, do any other royal couples have their own squad 🤷🏼‍♀️)

As mentioned further up thread I am a history geek so the history and indeed present situation of the royal family fascinate me from a historian’s point of view.

Glad to enlighten you about my opinion 🥰

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 16:44

Well that wasn't particularly enlightening, maybe next time!

In GCSE or A-Level?

I got an A in A-Level too! And a first in BA History 🥰 I did my dissertation on Henry VIII’s and his wife’s personal beliefs and political influence (it was very dry reading though, I must admit 🤣)

CamillaMacauley · 21/04/2025 16:46

For people complaining about the Wales family not being at church turns out they went to a service at Sandringham.

Fair enough, a lot of other people found it enlightening judging from the reactions the post received, so I don’t feel too bad. I can’t please everyone.

Isn’t there a saying “there’s none so blind as those that cannot see”

You wouldn't see any impact they have because you don't want to.

Does that mean that if you do see an impact it's because you want to?

I would have thought an impact to be something measurable, quantifiable, and objective.

Extiainoiapeial · 21/04/2025 15:53

Goodness me... it's all about food... humble pie, egg on face, what other metaphors can we use?

It's as easy as pie to stand by my opinion, it's a piece of cake. And Andrew and Sarah prancing about was rubbing salt in the wound, they seem to ride the gravy train as far as I'm concerned.

That'll do for now! 🤣

Nice attempt at deflecting, but it doesn't work.

don't have that function on the app...

I asked about why you cared when people had different opinions to you, I don't feel you actually answered that but no biggie.

I think the Henry VIII period and all the wives different beliefs are quite fascinating. I didn't do History at A level or degree level, though but I did get an A in History GCSE! And an A in A level Psychology! 😂

I actually find it a bit hypocritical to go to church if you don't believe. I would have more respect if William said he couldn't become the figurative head of the CofE due to not having faith. I'm not sure there is any reason the king/queen has to be head of the church?

Who said he "doesn't believe"? He and his family were at church today. And that makes him a hypocrite how?

Themagicfarawaytreeismyfav · 21/04/2025 16:53

There’s nothing odd at all about william not being there! Hes making the most of being able to be a present father while his children are still young before he becomes king and his life is taken over by duty! He will very likely become king at a far younger age than his father did and then he will have no choice but to attend these things. He’s being a good parent by allowing his children to have a “ normal” easter Sunday and being present for it.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 16:55

@mathanxiety that's where I am going wrong! I swear I walked off all those easter eggs but I'm not seeing the impact in my reflection!

It was a comment someone said up thread that he had made it clear that he does not have faith. I don't know if that is true or not. Hence I said if.
