Why is Sarah Ferguson at the Easter service?

I am really perplexed about why SF attends all Royal events since the death of the Queen when Andrew
is present. She behaves like his wife but she isn’t his wife. What on earth is going on? I cannot think of another situation like this where an ex wife lives with her ex husband and attends all public events with him as though they are still married. It’s bizarre.

Honestly I think some people forgot the really dark years of the RF. The 1990s were a total shit show

Diana dying shifted things considerably in terms of how they were treated. We have gone back to the soap opera now except H&M are the panto villains.

You don't like my opinion, that's fine! Not so keen on yours either 👍

It's not a matter of opinion. You won't even admit that you got it wrong. Any chance to cast shade on William... I don't know what the man has ever done to you!

I haven’t said I have an “opinion”. I am just saying that it makes no sense to criticise William for doing exactly the same thing his father did when in the same position. The fact is that William did actually mark Easter Sunday by going to Church Many posters didn’t seem to think he would because he was not in Windsor and / or he had to be in Windsor because it was his job. Neither are true facts. I’m not really interested in opinions that don’t take account of facts

I did and I was wrong, but that was not what I meant! OK! I got an A in my A level History so I guess I must have understood that ok... but it was more than 40 years and I don't have an encyclopedia for a brain!! I will not be quizzed by you either!

😆😆

I do wonder how old those are that constantly go on about William and Catherine being lazy. Whether those posters like it or not, they are the most popular royals. The younger generations are interested in work life balance and don't seem so concerned about ribbon cutting. They also appreciate that work can be done from home and that Zoom still exists post Covid.

The younger generations aren't interested in the Royal's or having a Royal family?

I'm a similar age to Kate with similar age dc but don't relate to them at all & think they are pretty pointless because I don't see them having much impact.

You wouldn't see any impact they have because you don't want to.

The infamous secret handshake the royals have with the press

No, actually. In this case, the quite public Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) Editors' Code of Practice. Which prohibits photographs being shown of individuals, including minors, in situations where they will have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

It applies to the Royal Family members in exactly the same way it applies to any other people in the UK, and is the reason any generally papped pictures of the Wales and their children in the private time are not published by UK media.

Erm, maybe because it's a public message board and I believe posters can post as they wish within the guidelines? "Butting in" - you're not exchanging private messages! 😂Think as you wish, it's no odds to me.

He established what became a Protestant church!

I think Henry would be horrified at what the Church of England became after his death. Whilst he separated from Rome and made himself Head of the Church, he was still a devout Catholic and followed Catholic doctrine. He believed in Transubstantiation, clerical celibacy and auricular confession. He just thought that the Church needed reforming and didn’t want to have to submit to the Pope any more. The money in his coffers was a nice bonus from shutting down the monasteries.

The proper change to Protestantism occurred during his son, Edward’s reign. Stupidly, Henry allowed him to be tutored by hardcore Reformers and was influenced by his devoutly Evangelical stepmother Catherine Parr.

edit: Just seen there’s a bit of a kerfuffle about this subject. I’m not trying to ruffle feathers, I love discussing this subject and don’t get chance to at home for obvious reasons 😴 I’m a bit history nerd 🤓

I am completely open to being impressed & impacted. I genuinely do not know what they do, I remember a tour which went a bit left. Something to do with the Baftas.

Like I said I became a fan of the Queen dispute being an Irish/French Catholic because she was dedicated. Not much of an opinion on Charles, pretty boring but nice biscuits. However because of my upbringing I don't defer & idolise a stranger just because they are Royal 🤷🏻‍♀️

Are you taking back all your horrible comments? Will you stop making horrible comments and having a go at others?

What horrible comments?

I rather think that there are very few who "defer and idolise". However most of us like criticism to be fair and evidenced!

So why not just say you were wrong, then? Not sure what an A level has got to do with it or an encyclopaedia has got to do with it? I could say well, I didn't even do History A level and still know that Henry VIII believed in Catholicism. But I won't because that would be childish. And I wasn't giving you a quiz (!) I was trying to jog your memory as to the fact that Henry was anti the protestant church.

But why do you care so much? I really am curious? I am not bothered whether the Royals go to church but I'm not a Royalist. If someone is bothered and feels they should be there why is their opinion wrong?
