The royal family

Why is Sarah Ferguson at the Easter service?

I am really perplexed about why SF attends all Royal events since the death of the Queen when Andrew
is present. She behaves like his wife but she isn’t his wife. What on earth is going on? I cannot think of another situation like this where an ex wife lives with her ex husband and attends all public events with him as though they are still married. It’s bizarre.

Sarah hasn't been a working Royal for 30 years. But no matter, she can churn out the Mills & Boon books under her Duchess title, and all the other ventures she takes part in. Happy days!

It's very much pick the rules that suit isn't it 😆

I am more bothered that William, who will be the next head of the Church, couldn’t be arsed showing up in one of the major religious festivals.

Maybe William is more mindful about performative church-going, and instead follows the teachings of Matthew?
”"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men

That would make for a fantastic thread, but this one is about Sarah Fergusson attending church in a royal/family connection when she isn’t actually royal anymore.

It's normal for threads to branch out in tangents, what makes you the thread police?

I never said it couldn’t branch out. You were the one who told me not to bring Harry & Meghan into it. Would that make you the thread police?

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 21/04/2025 09:24

Calliopespa · 21/04/2025 09:17

Well I think people have expressed their views on that. Any new people with new views will no doubt contribute soon.

Conversations have a habit of branching out, which is why people don’t sit saying the same thing over and over.

You are just hitting out in all directions on this thread. Leave everyone be.

I was trying to have a discussion about Sarah Fergusson and responded to posts about William. It’s called debate and discussion. I will stay, thank you very much 🥰

You do realise that the Easter service at Windsor is a private family service and not a state occasion, don't you? William has only attended a few of the services in the past, because it is not an official duty but an optional get together of extended family. Charles pretty much never attended when he was POW. William's spending Easter with his wife and kids. Hopefully having a nicer one than last year, when they had to tell their children that mum had cancer and she started chemo. Hopefully they are putting the memories of last year behind them.

I’d hope it was a case of, if Andrew is going to be there, my family won’t be.

myrtleWilson · 21/04/2025 09:26

@sofasoda it made the comparison between Michelle Obama’s relation with press in terms of 1 compared to term 2, and with Kate pre cancer (including Mother’s Day photo and KateGate) The post wasn’t comparing Michelle and Kate as individuals more the journey they went on.
Pre cancer, Kate was very ‘didn’t put a foot wrong, masked own character etc. Post cancer and the way the media (including social media) reacted there’s been a speeding up of media on her (their) terms. Some of it began pre cancer with hiring of new filmography people (bts at Coronation for example) but now seen in issuing photos directly, doing more surprise visits where the press are only looped in at the last minute- the visit to Marsden for example, updates on her health. So more of Kate doing it on her terms, - possibly because of growth in confidence, possibly because of what she’s been through (and still will be going through despite currently in remission) and possibly because it’s a polite fuck you to the press…

I didn’t say leave; I said leave everyone be. Stay and play nicely.

I really don't think that can be the case, given William has been seen in Andrew's company many times, and actually drove him somewhere not that long ago.

No, I didn't. I asked why bring them into it? In response to your below post

" I love how this is another thread that has diverted from the original topic and is now a ‘let’s shit on William’ bash on. I’m surprised as the ones who are derailing are usually the ones who protest that this happens to their beloved Harry & Meghan"

Maybe the in laws have had a word.

That is best case scenario, I agree. Though in that case, I would hope the King would say for Andrew to stay away and let William go. Really I’d wish that Andrew would realise the difficulty he causes himself and stay away entirely.

And why bring William into it? It can’t be one rule for you, another rule for me.

I’ve quite enjoyed our sparring about William’s church attendance or lack thereof. You are the one who got upset when I mentioned Harry 🤷🏼‍♀️

Extiainoiapeial · 21/04/2025 09:30

Just to break news... Pope Francis has died. This will be such a huge upset to all those who loved him.

I am not religious but he was a good Pope from what I knew and read.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 09:30

I can't have a discussion with someone who can't actually understand what they are reading...

"Leave everyone be"

Case in point so please don't tag me anymore @PrettyFlyforaMaiTai

Just to break news... Pope Francis has died.

Not unexpected but sad nonetheless.

hopeishere · 21/04/2025 09:31

I find this whole thing odd. Who dresses like that going to church?? Do you know any other 30 year old women who wear hats to a CoE service on Easter Sunday? I saw Mary of Denmark at church in a respectable but more casual outfit.

I think Kate is more religious/ spiritual than William. How does Charles embody or live the values of the church - he had an affair! It’s clear he’s interested in other faiths as well. William will be able to dial it in when the time comes.

I think K and W are making their boundaries clear now as to what can be expected of them when they take the throne.

It’s kind of awkward to tell your brother you can’t go to church if you’re a regular church going Christian.

I did see somewhere that they should have made him go in discreetly via a side door, which would have been better optics for the family and would have made Andrew look slightly more penitent. If this was the case, would Sarah have gone in with the family and snuck unnoticed by everyone. She seems to court attention, just like Andrew.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 09:33

Yeah, I think the Royals are generally fine with his mishaps...

HufflebuffsAreOn · 21/04/2025 09:36

Fairly certain the royals will have told family members not to attend many times. If Harry was in the country do you think they’d have let him go? Not a chance.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 09:38

@myrtleWilson thanks, I think there is an element of pushing back from Kate and taking control which is understandable. I am not sure how long it will last though as I think any key Royal has to play the game somewhat.

Fair point, PrettyFlyforaMaiTai, though I'd like to think we've moved on a bit since then

However at least Henry succeeded in getting rid of the influence of the catholic church, so who knows if William might loosen ties with the CofE?

Imagine what he would make of this lot if he could see them now 🤣
