The royal family

Why is Sarah Ferguson at the Easter service?

I am really perplexed about why SF attends all Royal events since the death of the Queen when Andrew
is present. She behaves like his wife but she isn’t his wife. What on earth is going on? I cannot think of another situation like this where an ex wife lives with her ex husband and attends all public events with him as though they are still married. It’s bizarre.

Im glad W&C prioritise their children, maybe prevent another Harry in the future.

I imagine Andrew is an odious character and Sarah is willing to put with it which benefits everyone. I know everyone wants him to disappear but the reality is he hasn’t been charged with anything and he’s still a member of the family. So the creepy uncle will show his face at certain events. I’m sure he is deeply unhappy he is being managed in this way.

I find it bizarre. I can only imagine the Royals decide what message they want to give out, and to me the message is... Andrew and Sarah are firmly in the fold whatever the general public thinks.

Was he ever cast out?

He wasn't, she was. For decades she never had a place at the Christmas dinner table.
Although I think she might have this year.

I love how this is another thread that has diverted from the original topic and is now a ‘let’s shit on William’ bash on. I’m surprised as the ones who are derailing are usually the ones who protest that this happens to their beloved Harry & Meghan 🤔

I don’t actually think it is fundamentally an attack on William; it’s an attack on the view expressed by some that noone really gives a toss about Easter or even the role of Head of the Church.
Some people do - and if you think about it, that’s actually supportive of his ongoing relevance to many.

Grammarnut · 21/04/2025 09:09

I have always suspected that they quietly/secretly remarried in a civil ceremony because they did not want to divorce in the first place. It's a mistake to see royal marriages in the way most of us see ours - I doubt Andrew was bothered his wife had a lover and she wasn't bothered by his because their marriage was a working partnership. It was the publicity done by the DM which caused the divorce - there had been a settlement made between them until pictures of toe-sucking emerged to embarrass especially HMTLQ. Sarah has lived with Andrew for most of their divorce. As to inviting her to Easter celebrations, she has supported Andrew through all his viccissitudes and I think the King likes her (the late Queen - I think and as far as we can interpret public behaviour - did not because she was yet another embarrassment about Andrew).

myrtleWilson · 21/04/2025 09:09

We don’t know if William was at another church, however I don’t buy the idea that photos would have been leaked. Both William and Harry have historic mistrust of the press but William realised he needed to have some sort of relationship with them in his role. I think that stance has changed a bit further after Kategate. (There was a really interesting post on another thread about Kate and the press)

also, posters referencing that William should ‘step up’ in support of Charles, if Charles wanted that support presumably he would ask (or even direct as he is King!) There were reports that Charles gave consent for W&K to not attend Windsor (reflecting hierarchical nature of the Firm) so it’s not inconceivable that Charles is fully able to ask for support if he needs it. There are lots of reasons why he wouldn’t want William doubling up on visits as has been suggested on here

Well why not, @Extiainoiapeial? After all the late Queen did it witth the horse ride and decoration for Andrew at the exact time the Epstein thing came out, so I'd suggest they're merely following a pattern of two fingers to anyone who dares criticise

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 09:09

No I didn't, I was being facetious which clearly went over your head. Could you possibly refrain from personal attacks & labelling me as uncaring or minimising my cancer experience whilst trying to make your points. It's incredibly hypocritical for one @PrettyFlyforaMaiTai?

Nope! I think there was an "ooops that interview he did was a bit of a stinker" but then fully accepted back in the fold.
You can carry on living in a massive Royal estate that the Queen Mother used to live in, wear your purple velvet dressing up stuff at the Coronation, but don't give any more interviews because last time you tried that, it went tits up! Oh dear, you spoke for all the family after that memorial service and you must stop leading us all into Church like you do! I try to run and overtake you, but I can't!

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 09:09

Insane isn't it.

Seriously, anything to avoid another arrogant Andrew and whinging Harry. I couldn’t be bothered with another Spare 2:0 from Louis about how George got a bigger bedroom and an extra sausage at breakfast 🤣

@myrtleWilson what was the gist of it?

That would make for a fantastic thread, but this one is about Sarah Fergusson attending church in a royal/family connection when she isn’t actually royal anymore.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 09:16

I see what I see.

Very little apparently 😆

Extiainoiapeial · 21/04/2025 09:16

Sarah hasn't been a working Royal for 30 years. But no matter, she can churn out the Mills & Boon books under her Duchess title, and all the other ventures she takes part in. Happy days!

He financially supports her and she covers for his SA of an underage teen who was been trafficked.

You will never understand the behaviour of that family because they have been raised to believe that they are better than everyone else.

I think a lot of people think they are better than everyone else!
There are increasing numbers of very wealthy, privileged people who are the products of parents who are wealthy and privileged. At least the royal family know that they are privileged.

I would also say that they probably meet enough extraordinary “normal” people to realise they themselves aren’t all that. Part of their job is rewarding people who have come through adversity, worked selflessly or achieved great things. I think a lifetime of meeting people with missing limbs through active service or people with nothing who achieve anyway must put things in perspective.

Well I think people have expressed their views on that. Any new people with new views will no doubt contribute soon.

Conversations have a habit of branching out, which is why people don’t sit saying the same thing over and over.

You are just hitting out in all directions on this thread. Leave everyone be.

It's normal for threads to branch out in tangents, what makes you the thread police?

Extiainoiapeial · 21/04/2025 09:18

I agree. No one should come on a thread and tell people what they should or shouldn't post.

Conversations go in all sorts of directions and that is the nature of a discussion forum.

I didn't see her admit she was uncaring. You are just concluding that yourself.

Quite

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 09:20

@Spectre8 thank you.

MrsSkylerWhite · 21/04/2025 09:20

Andrew is there and you’re asking about her?!

SamkaSabrinka · 21/04/2025 09:20

What an unkind attitude towards them. | think it's great they are still like a married couple. They are parents togerther. They support each other. And also it's soooo none of our business if they want to go to church together 🙄

Extiainoiapeial · 21/04/2025 09:21

Just stop the personal attacks. Posters are allowed to have a different view or to speculate why William might be absent from the Easter Sunday church service. It's quite normal to wonder, whatever side of the fence you are on.
