What public service???

coolmum123 · 02/05/2025 21:57

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/05/2025 17:27

I can forgive my family's involvement ... the press... what im struggling to forgive is a decision that was made in 2020 that affects my every single day and that's knowingly putting me and my family at risk every single day

I’m still reading all the posts, but I thought the late Queen gave them a year to really think about what they wanted to do? So by then he should have known the risk and where he stood. Or am I going crazy?

Nope. She did. But you have to realise that nothing is ever Harry's fault or responsibility.

PotolKimchi · 02/05/2025 21:52

@IcedPurple Not just that. He’s sort of faded into irrelevance. His wife is doing a bunch of stuff (podcasts and TV shows and jam making) but what is he doing other than these random crusades? I think the interview and the statement is a threat that he could reveal more. Because literally all he has is his former insider status. Meghan wasn’t an insider long enough but he was. So it’s a nice bit of blackmail masquerading as a BBC interview.

The problem is this. The world will move on in 7 days. Tariffs. Trump. Maybe a natural disaster somewhere. Elections. Prince Harry and his woes while entertaining are not actually newsworthy. He will perhaps do another round of US talk shows. Maybe performatively become a US citizen one day. But the RF will keep ignoring/blanking him and the world will keep turning.

I agree. He's basically become a bit of a freak show.

Yet he thinks he is still the beloved jolly Prince Hall. All the stuff about not 'being able' to bring the children and how much he loves his country is written with the intention of making people feel sorry for him, but the reality is that nobody really cares if he and his children don't visit. The public have barely seen his children, which is fine, but also means they have no 'investment' in them.

He is totally out of touch with reality.

I want to start by thanking my legal team and the Court of Appeal Judges for their time and expertise in unravelling this issue that stemmed from the previous government.
This process has only ever been about ensuring my safety and that of my immediate family when we are in in the United Kingdom, so that we may safely visit my home country with the same level of security that other governments deem necessary for our protection. My ask has been simple: that the standard protocols for security and risk assessments be applied to me in the same way they are to others - including people who have never carried out any public functions on behalf of the State.
The court's ruling confirms that the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, known as RAVEC and comprised of senior officials from the Royal Household, Home Office and Metropolitan Police, has failed to follow its own mandated processes for me, which are applied to all other high-risk and high-profile individuals. Given my profound concerns over this issue, I will be writing to the Home Secretary to ask her to urgently examine the matter and review the RAVEC process.
This legal action has been a last resort, but one that has uncovered shocking truths, starting with the fact that the Royal Household are key decision-makers on RAVEC and my sole representation for matters regarding my safety. In this process, I've also learned the names of all those involved, many of whom retired immediately after playing their part.
In November 2017, before the Royal Household's role on RAVEC was known, this secretive committee concluded that when my wife would join the royal family, she should not receive protection. Only when I asked for the name of the person willing to carry that risk, did they reverse the decision.
In 2020, RAVEC refused for the first time to conduct the required annual risk, threat and impact assessment that their own policies demand. The intention of this assessment is to be objective, and free from bias and interference to confirm the security required. The result was stripping me of the protection I've had since birth, whilst signalling to all other governments to do the same. This reckless action knowingly put me and my family in harm's way. Life is precious and I understand the fragility of it.
Throughout 2020 and 2021, I attempted to resolve this issue privately, even offering to independently cover the costs of necessary and effective police protection in order to keep me and my family safe. No one responded directly to me about my offer when I made it and even though I challenged the refusal to let me pay, my legal claim failed.
To this present day, the Royal Household remain my sole representation on RA VEC for every visit and could call for this assessment to be done at any point. The only possible conclusion that can be drawn is they choose not to, because they know the outcome would prove that my security should never have been removed in the first place.
In recent years my family and I have been subjected to well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats, including from Al-Qaeda. There are individuals in prison on UK soil because of such threats. And yet, since 2019 a proper risk assessment has not been conducted. This is not only a deviation from standard practice, it's a dereliction of duty.
The stark difference is I was born into lifelong circumstances that create inherent security risks.
My decade of military service, particularly two tours of duty in Afghanistan, as well as social and tabloid media frenzy, have only intensified those threats. Uncovering how my immediate family's safety was knowingly put at risk, as well as who was behind it and who sanctioned it, has been truly devastating. No matter where we may agree or disagree, I would never wish harm on anyone. These legal proceedings have revealed to me that this basic duty of care was not and is not applied to me.
It's true that I have been treated as an exception on this issue. The conditions of my security were not made based on threat, risk, and impact, they were made based on my role - one that my wife and I wanted to maintain, but that was ultimately refused. RAVEC's ability to make decisions outside of its own policies and the so-called political sensitivities of my case have prevailed over the need for fair and consistent decision-making.
The court has decided to
defer to this, revealing a sad truth: my hands are tied in seeking legal recourse against the establishment.
This all comes from the same institutions that preyed upon my mother, that openly campaigned for the removal of our security, and that continue to incite hatred towards me, my wife and even our children, while at the same time protecting the very power that they should be holding
The UK is my birthplace and will always be part of who I am. It is a place I love, and the country where my son was born. I've only ever wanted to continue my charitable work in supporting the causes and people that mean so much to me, and for my children to know th beauty of my homeland. I remain committed to a life of public service.
This has been and will always be, my life's work, and when you strip away the noise, you'll be able to hear, all I've been asking for is safety

When you strip away the noise you realise that he really is an eternal victim.

PotolKimchi · 02/05/2025 22:07

What actually today’s tantrum/interview has actually revealed is that when people said the RF was utterly blanking him and had frozen him out that was actually true.
The other thing that today has revealed is that all those who said ‘Harry and Meghan never really wanted to leave the RF, they just wanted to go abroad and be royals on their terms’ were absolutely 100% right. Harry literally said so both in his interview and his statement.

Mylovelygreendress · 02/05/2025 22:07

Where are all the posters who claimed that H was living his best life away from his toxic family and had no wish to return ?

RandyRedHumpback · 02/05/2025 22:07

He sat on a stage a couple of weeks ago with The NY Times and couldn't name a single thing he misses about the UK. And now he loves it. Bullshit.

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/05/2025 22:07

Seriously though, that is the statement of someone who doesn't grasp that his former status was dependant on who he represented rather than who he is. I really wish one of the journalists would ask him why he thought he needed more security than any other non Heir child of a monarch?

TheAutumnCrow · 02/05/2025 22:13

RandyRedHumpback · 02/05/2025 21:42

You: Harry, what day is it?

Harry: Nobody told me what day it is. If they had we wouldn't be where we are now. It's not my fault days of the week were withheld from me and others made decisions on my behalf about what day of the week it would be. If I had been able to find out the day of the week for myself, I would have been able to protect my wife and children from Sundays.

You: Harry, what day of the week is it?

Harry: That information would genuinely surprise people if they knew the answer. It's truly shocking. What is even more shocking is that the information is all out there is you know where to look.

This

I mean he keeps going on and on about his 'risk' but he has done nothing to try and mitigate it, in fact he's inflamed it.

He may have got protection as a child, but he saw Beatrice and Eugenie lose their security as they weren't working royals. He must have seen Aunt Anne and Uncle Edward getting security while on royal duties. How he doesn't get it, is beyond me.

I think if Charles and eventually William are head of a church that preaches forgiveness then hopefully they will reconcile and hopefully make some happy memories, it would be sad if things remain the way they are between them.

Forgiveness is one thing. Being able rebuild relationships quite another. They can’t even talk to Harry because they know that it will be immediately repeated by him with his spin in an interview.

William got more days in the week than I did.

mateysmum · 02/05/2025 22:23

Personally I've always found that reconciliation is usually best achieved by publicly slagging off not only those you supposedly want to reconcile with but also all the institutions of state. The government, the judiciary, the royal household and don't forget to point out how you've forgiven them for all the nasty things they've done to you /s
Just like with the Oprah interview, once you start to break down what he actually says it just doesn't make sense.
They were not forced to leave. They backed themselves into a corner by declaring half in half out without agreeing it with HMQ. The late Queen also publicly asked.for their security to be maintained and have them a years grace. If the late Queen couldn't control Ravec how could Charles especially during a live court case conducted in his name?

That statement from Harry is a classic. He is so bitter and sad. I frel very sorry for Charles who loves his darling boy dearly.

He seems to simultaneously expect security because he is royal and yet at the same time not understand why there is a member of the household on RAVEC.

Profhilodisaster · 02/05/2025 22:33

As a father himself, he should realise that there is no way KC would want him to be at risk. I despise my ex but don't wish him any physical harm.

StartupRepair · 02/05/2025 22:35

He seems quite relaxed about accusing the royal household member of ravec of acting unprofessionally if not corruptly.

Jessica60 · 02/05/2025 22:40

PoppysAunt · 02/05/2025 19:02

This ⬆️ . As you say, there are people who believe The Crown is factual. There are people who believe that Oprah, Netflix and Spare were factual. The BBC has a duty to challenge this. They ought not to broadcast any of his wild claims and bizarre conspiracy theories. It's not anywhere near a decent standard of journalism.

I agree. I always thought you could rely on the BBC for the truth. I'm not watching BBC news again.

Fucking A-hole Governor of California, Gavin Newsome now waxing lyrical about H&M on Newsnight. FFS!

Did H write a letter demanding asking him to ?

RandyRedHumpback · 02/05/2025 23:06

God knows. But they are heroes of the Californian fires, apparently. Why don't you pay for their bloody security then, Gavin, since they elevate your state so much. Tell you what, if you you'll get free spread and sprinkles for life.

Profhilodisaster · 02/05/2025 23:22

Who else will they rope in to defend themselves?

JADS · 02/05/2025 23:28

They clearly have dirt on Gavin Newsome! Wasn't he the prat who took them on a tour of burnt houses that the occupiers weren't allowed back to?

Vespanest · 02/05/2025 23:30

i do wonder if California is paying towards Harry's security like new youk do. I do think Harry has to be careful to not piss off the citizens of the country that's hosting him, it's not like he has a plan B now.

Munnygirl · 02/05/2025 23:38

IcedPurple · 02/05/2025 21:43

Exactly.

That's why I'm saying he needs to give up on Blighty and make his life in California. If 'they' are out to get him then surely it's best just not to set foot in the realm.

I think the reality is he desperately misses his old life and status but can't admit that.
