I've not read it, but am pretty sure Ms Chandauka doesn't have one - at least not as a result of her own academic efforts

Wasn't it an honorary title bestowed by some Uni ... ?

Yes, I'm pretty sure you're not actually entitled to use the Dr title for an honorary degree.

I was just trying to find out whether she calls herself Dr or not and in the process came across this astonishing Wikipedia edit:

Sophie Chandauka & her brother Tinashe Chandauka founded Nandi Life Sciences, a rare disease, oncology, and auto-immune biotechnology company that is claimed to have raised $50 million; however, nandilifesciences.com/team/ is not a functioning company. Tinashe and friend Sarah Essien received hefty salaries as Sentabale consultants from 2023 to 2024. Both working for Nandi Life Services while enjoying the spoilage of attending Sentabale events while collecting paid checks courtesy of Sopie

Apologies if this has already been brought up, but Alex Rayner appears, from Companies House, to have been born in 1978, so he's 6 years older than Harry. That's to say that as boys start at Eton aged 13 and leave at 18, there's no way he could be "an old Etonian school friend of the prince", as the DM article claims.

https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/UsF9qc3xZatqXWF5ahZX2nKq9NU/appointments

if you know any Etonians you’ll understand that it is a very cultish place. As in, the connections you make regardless of age are life long. They are very supportive of one another. Which isn’t a bad thing but it’s not age related.

Bontonbonbon · 01/04/2025 18:05

I know it doesn’t always come across but Marina Hyde’s writing style is full of verbal irony and sarcasm. She’s taking the piss out of Harry. Just like she lampooned Meghan. They both come out of that article looking like entitled bell ends.

But to do it she had to make a parallel between Harry’s previous behaviour and SC. So I can see how it could be taken the wrong way.

She openly loathes Harry and Meghan and the Sussex Squad.

Good, Prince William. This is the level of visibility we need to see as the norm.

It is really the norm.

However the tabloid press don't really report on most of their regular work (nor the stuff Edward and Sophie do). I think part of the problem for William and Kate is they don't give exclusive access to the tabloid royal reporters anymore to help them sell newspapers but release the information and videos for free on their Instagram page.

Whereas Harry and Meghan's PR e-mail copy directly to the Daily Mail, People Magazine, Page 6 etc and they just print it. I don't know if it's true - but a few years ago I read that part of the Sunshine Sachs contract was to get at least 4 pro-H&M stories in the press each day.

I hear chickens coming home to roost... and a strangely deafening silence from their usual supporters...

Is that roasting chicken 😂😂
I only looked that up few days ago 😂 I thought it odd as she was vegetarian back then.

potsandmud · 01/04/2025 18:08

I think she would have been well aware how it was written could be taken in a different context.

My view is that their approach is led by William in a direct response to his own childhood and a desire not to repeat the patterns of Charles and Diana.

It seemed as though Diana and Charles led parallel lives even in the early days of their marriage. Working and spending time mostly separately.

We know they were encouraged by the Queen to take the early marriage years for themselves to build strong roots. It’s a good plan for a couple who will be working in the public eye until William dies. Otherwise you end up as polite strangers in your later years.

I think William wants to have the Middleton family model for his own children - probably now more than ever - loyal siblings who stick together and have each other’s backs.

Now William is the heir he does seem to be stepping up the engagements and the high profile nature of them.

Yes I really think William looks back quite critically on his parents' style of parenting where they were left a lot with nannies and sent to boarding school aged 8.

Bontonbonbon · 01/04/2025 18:10

This is so interesting. I watched the new script developing on Reddit yesterday and now it’s here. The deflect on to William is so frankly pathetic. The next thing will be the Wales’s marriage (which is the current trend on Reddit).

Anything to deflect from their hero 🙃

With lots of travel involved over three countries.

The travelling is hardly the same as taking a charter flight on holiday though. Half an hour from Windsor to Heathrow or RAF Northolt. An hour flight to Aberdeen. Do your bit then back home in time for the school run. The investiture was on the door step. And Somerset is only a couple of hours away by car, if he went by car (and he wouldn’t drive). Estonia would be a long day. But that still leaves another six days those two weeks.

Profhilodisaster · 01/04/2025 18:12

@CanOfMangoTango I've seen this on other sites , surely Sophie wouldn't have reported to the CC if she didn't have clean hands .

jeffgoldblum · 01/04/2025 18:13

I’ve clicked on the link to the company and it seems legit to me!
and I take everything from Wikipedia with a pinch of salt as you are aware anyone can edit it?
take a look at the screenshots ive just taken of the many edits done today alone!

I think she would have been well aware how it was written could be taken in a different context.

It’s her column style. Has been for years. Regular readers (and those of a similar sarcastic style) would recognise it.

The dead give away was her use of ‘recollections May vary’.

Interesting, CanOfMangoTango; thank you for that

I appreciate that Wiki isn't always the most reliable of sources, but interesting all the same

Bontonbonbon · 01/04/2025 18:16

@ViolasandViolets What has William’s travel got to do with a thread about Harry?

This is such a massive, obvious deflect. The ‘William is lazy’ attack is so frankly over done.

TenInchNails · 01/04/2025 18:19

Just placemarking, I'm hooked following this now.

MissRoseDurward · 01/04/2025 18:19

So four engagements?

With lots of travel involved over three countries.

The Estonia visit was over 2-3 days with several different engagements. The Somerset and Aberdeen trips also had different elements/meeting different groups of people in different places.

There would also have been planning and briefing meetings in advance of those visits and ahead of the investiture.

SunblockSue · 01/04/2025 17:43

@MrsLeonFarrell have the Charity Commission actually said they're investigating this? Last I saw they were assessing concerns?

Given all the problematic trustees have left (assuming it isn’t SC that is the problem as they suggest) then the CC may not feel there is much value to be had from investigating as they may feel the new trustee will address the issues.

@Puzzledandpissedoff, go to Wikipedia and check out the hundreds ( and I do mean hundreds!) of edits that have been done to her page today alone!! , I only took pictures of the newest two pages !
it seems rather convenient!

I don't think William will be opening community centres in Skegness in the future - that doesn't seem to be the model of of being a RF that he is going for.

I know the Queen did that but times are different.

Will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

I mean he does do that - he opened a training centre for people at risk of homelessness in Aberdeen last week. But I don't think that he is content to only do "old school" ribbon cutting engagements. He prefers to work longer term with organisations rather than just turn up for the "royal event"

William can be underperforming AND Harry be a bellend. They are not mutually exclusive events.

I knew Wikipedia was a bit dodgy but I didn't realise that anyone can edit things. I guess you have to sign up to actually see them? I clicked the pencil icon and could have edited the text but it said my IP address would be visible (or something like that)

I'm still not convinced it ever really happened and the nation wasn't just in the grip of a collective vivid fever dream to be honest.

Sadly I remember many ghastly details, including Edward's strop at the press conference. What they said to poor Anne to rope her in I have no idea😂It did apparently get good viewing figures though.

I really quite like Edward now and don't think I'm alone in that, which just shows a bit of work and not further making a show of yourself can pay off. The public aren't that unforgiving, given a chance.

In 2023 (so before cancer knocked the families) number of engagements were:
Princess Anne 457
King Charles 425
Prince Edward 297
Queen Camillia 233
Sophie 219
William 172
Catherine 128

At scale
Clap back ( what does this even mean? Respond to? refute?)
Receipts

All very irritating.
