@CanOfMangoTango I've seen this on other sites , surely Sophie wouldn't have reported to the CC if she didn't have clean hands .

You misunderstood me, apologies for not being clear.

I meant the wiki allegations appearing today are very convenient for her detractors and suggests some kind of vandalising of her public image being attempted.

It’s her column style. Has been for years. Regular readers (and those of a similar sarcastic style) would recognise it.

The dead give away was her use of ‘recollections May vary’.

I’m well aware. She may have been nuanced in her piss take, but her take down of a woman was very marked and clear.

Bruisername · 01/04/2025 18:40

The doctorate is an interesting one as there is a lot of nuance around it

different countries have different expectations about education levels (Germans can be notoriously snobby about it!) and in her position, honorary or not, she uses the title to signal where she is in life (renowned enough to get an honorary doctorate). Whereas for someone like Harry and meghan an honorary doctorate will add nothing to signal where they are in life

potsandmud · 01/04/2025 18:41

Ultimately the RF have to step in to some how mitigate this utter shit show. They have some responsibility in its making after all. Honestly, I think Haz would welcome it with open arms but he also has an ego and a wife with an ego the size of California and two kids. And if I know anything about Etonian’s (and i do) is that they don’t like to be wrong. And that will keep him fucking it up for a good while longer until the shit really hits the fan. We have a way to go until rock bottom folks.

I seem to remember that HLMTQ wanted to let William and Catherine have as much normal family time as possible because her own time as a naval wife in Malta had been such a pleasure and fond memory. It's possible that she encouraged fewer engagements.

In his first two years as POW, he's had to take over the Duchy of Cornwall and deal with sick family members. It looks as though he is becoming more confident and active. Trump really likes William. I'm hoping he will be a positive influence for good.

Also, anyone can make changes in Wikipedia. It doesn't mean it's accurate. I always think of this cartoon when I use Wikipedia:

W & C as Prince and Princess of Wales are part of the international face of the Royal Family. The positivity and drama free nature of the couple resonates well especially in more socially conservative environments. In areas of the world where family harmony and reverence for elders remains a core cultural component, the couple scores highly. I would wager most world leaders would rather a visit from the Wales than either Keir Starmer or David Lammy!

Neither W nor C is a line worker who needs to clock in at 8am and clock out after a 12-hour shift with productivity linearly correlated to time. I am not sure what this obsession with number of engagements is?

It reminds me of Mr. Darcy struggling to find fault with Miss Jane Bennet and landing on "She smiles too much!"

I knew Wikipedia was a bit dodgy but I didn't realise that anyone can edit things. I guess you have to sign up to actually see them? I clicked the pencil icon and could have edited the text but it said my IP address would be visible (or something like that)

Yes, anyone can edit it, and it's pretty common for trolls to put negative stuff on someone's wiki page for laughs or more nefarious reasons. The Sussex Squad will have been all over SC's page today.

MissRoseDurward · 01/04/2025 18:45

At scale
Clap back ( what does this even mean? Respond to? refute?)
Receipts

All very irritating.

And 'back in the fold' which has been used so often it has become meaningless.

I didn’t know either until recently! And only today did I see the link to click and see edits , and I was amazed it told you all this information!

@Puzzledandpissedoff, go to Wikipedia and check out the hundreds ( and I do mean hundreds!) of edits that have been done to her page today alone!! , I only took pictures of the newest two pages !
it seems rather convenient!

I just did, Jeff ... good grief!! Shock

Rhaidimiddim · 01/04/2025 18:46

ViolasandViolets · 01/04/2025 18:33

In 2023 (so before cancer knocked the families) number of engagements were:
Princess Anne 457
King Charles 425
Prince Edward 297
Queen Camillia 233
Sophie 219
William 172
Catherine 128

Why don't you start a thread on the subject of William's work ethic and approach to trainee kinging and stop trying to derail this one?

meercat23 · 01/04/2025 18:47

ViolasandViolets · 01/04/2025 18:11

The travelling is hardly the same as taking a charter flight on holiday though. Half an hour from Windsor to Heathrow or RAF Northolt. An hour flight to Aberdeen. Do your bit then back home in time for the school run. The investiture was on the door step. And Somerset is only a couple of hours away by car, if he went by car (and he wouldn’t drive). Estonia would be a long day. But that still leaves another six days those two weeks.

Edit to remove response to derail

I am not sure what posts like this expect to achieve. Suggesting any criticism of anyone other than Harry is mere deflection just makes you seem fanatical.

Bontonbonbon · 01/04/2025 18:10

This is so interesting. I watched the new script developing on Reddit yesterday and now it’s here. The deflect on to William is so frankly pathetic. The next thing will be the Wales’s marriage (which is the current trend on Reddit).

Anything to deflect from their hero 🙃

We've already got "lazy-William " posts appearing here now.

A small town quite close to us had, many years ago, an extensive entry about the herd of brontasaurus living in the high school grounds. It was up for ages, to huge merriment.

Massive packet of salt for Wiki indeed, it can be great but the edit function a bit of a curse.

ive never been one to buy into the conspiracy theories and I’m not someone who normally looks at certain things on the internet or sm but I was led there by the link and was absolutely shocked 😮 I can understand now why normally people shut up and keep their heads down!

Nah, I’ve said sufficient on the topic. Except to say that when Harry was a ‘working royal’ the number of engagements he attended was quite a bit lower than William.

This thread is clearly about sentable and Harry’s latest cockups , whether William is lazy or not has no bearing whatsoever on these latest issues, not to mention there has been hundreds of threads about this on this forum for years , either go to those and comment or start your own.
