It did actually notice at the time that they were wearing very similar outfits but Sophie looked elegant but M just couldn’t pull it off. I didn’t of course know at that point what a high achiever she was. It makes total sense to me that M, ever the feminist, was jealous of her.

Has anyone found out who the tall woman also wearing cream and holding onto the trophy is??
she’s in the picture thats been printed and posted everywhere but no mention of her at all! 🤷‍♀️

I agree that C comes over very well indeed as evidenced by her phenomenal polling...where she is more popular than Albanese in Australia, Trump in America and Macron in France!

Drama sells, and the press wanted "Diana 2.0...The Modern Mess Continues!" but what they got was a "level-headed girl." C has been very smart to maintain her professional public persona of "steady as she goes" and keep her private life very private.

Steady, boring and reliable is exactly what is needed for longevity in public life. And in this world of change and chaos, stability is all the more valued.

C is very interesting. I hope hers and William's marriage is a good one. If the Royal family had designed a wife for William, they could not have done better. She smiles and is friendly but gives nothing away. She's interested in 'suitable' things - early childhood, addiction, art, sport, nature. She can wear pretty much anything and look brilliant. She's devoted to her children. She is totally reliable and trustworthy. She has a solid family behind her. The criticism that she and William are lazy is justified, in my view, but the investment of time in their children will hopefully insure against any more Andrews and Harrys.

@glitterturd fabulous picture in your OP, assume that's someone fiddling (Nero?) while Rome burns? 😂

I'm sure I read back last year when it happened that she was either another trustee or one of the Sentebale support employees. I checked the website, but obviously it's all change on there now.

Thanks , it’s not really important but I just find it a tad rude to not mention or introduce all people in the picture!

BBC article - trying to be balanced

makes a deal of her Dr title

Uricon2 · 01/04/2025 17:04

I can’t think of a similar example of someone in the public eye making the same mistakes over and over again.

Exactly @wordler and I really believe that they listen to noone except each other and those willing to blow smoke. There has been such a huge staff turnover and as well as the bullying aspect, I think there must be people who feel utterly frustrated and professionally compromised.

I agree, including the lazy comment. William in particular needs to up his game. I read somewhere he wanted to focus on quality not quantity but the quantity is what keeps the public supporting you as turning up to local endeavors shows you are invested in the whole population.

Vespanest · 01/04/2025 17:06

I had a look at Alex Rayners instagram, he comes across as a bit of a posh toff but not like someone who'd be stupid enought to get involved with this. It's all seems that he acted without giving himself breathing time. If Harry denies this he is in all sorts of trouble, he will be doxxed within an inch of his life.

Something else the late Queen knew.

The criticism that she and William are lazy is justified, in my view

In the last ten days of March, William visited Estonia, where he met the President and Ukrainian refugees and spent time with British troops, held an investiture at Windsor and visited Somerset and Aberdeen, in connection with projects on mental health and homelessness.

BasiliskStare · 01/04/2025 17:10

Could that other woman be the wife of the couple who own the polo ground? I'm guessing.

Spot on about William. As the children get older, their insistence on always doing the school run and being with them throughout every school holiday will start to look even sillier. Cutting down patronages will hit the charities left out as Royal patronage is what really brings in the money.

It’s a knockout was a classic example of something ‘fun’ being the antithesis of what the public want from the monarchy. Everyone cringes at the thought of it.

I'm still not convinced it ever really happened and the nation wasn't just in the grip of a collective vivid fever dream to be honest.

Thedom · 01/04/2025 17:12

Here is one of the gazillion comments Lainey has written about racism in the past.

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have called out racism and advocated for racial justice, they’ve been accused of virtue signalling and performative wokery. I can recall several columns in the Daily Mail mocking them for their advocacy. You think Prince William will get the same treatment?

This is what she had to say about Jessica Mulroney bullying an instagrammed.

what happened to Sasha Exeter – specifically the words that Sasha, herself, used in describing how Jessica bullied her. In her Instagram video, Sasha said that:

“Listen, I’m by no means calling Jess a racist. But what I will say is this: she is very well aware of her wealth, her perceived power and privilege because of the colour of her skin. And that, my friends, gave her the momentary confidence to come for my livelihood in writing.”

You could say that this kind of workaround in the end only accommodates white fragility, and you’re probably right, but my point is that even when a Black woman is right, even when she has been victimised by a white woman flexing her white privilege over her and threatening her livelihood, and can prove it (!), she still has to perform the LABOUR of telling her story in a way that she knows will best prove her case to white people.

It’s a double injustice. It is yet another example of how frustrating – to say the least – it is to be Black in the world. That when the facts are on your side, when you are telling the truth, you still have to serve it up so that it’s presentable to the white world.

Kind of rings a bell !!

Lets see how she feels about Harry and his Royal white privilege, if she even dares to cover it..

I never really understand the claims that W&K are 'lazy'. Anyone can read the court circular. I think what they mean is 'I have not seen the photo ops in the papers so they must be doing nothing'.

ETA- it reminds me of the time one of our neighbours collared me and said accusingly 'You never take your dogs for a walk'. The reality was that our school run was a 30 minute drive away so the dogs came in the car with us and then we walked for a good 40 minutes on the beach twice a day. What our neighboiur meant was 'I don't SEE you taking your dogs for a walk, so you must not do it'.

Not to compare our future King and Queen to spaniels, mind.

William's sense of duty seems not to be highly developed eg going on holiday rather than going to the BALTASOUND, of which he is president.

Yes same here. I've just searched on Getty Images' page for the event and the statement from Sentebale for the event. Still none the wiser. She must have been someone reasonably important to have been on the stage!

MissRoseDurward · 01/04/2025 17:19

I think what they mean is 'I have not seen the photo ops in the papers so they must be doing nothing'.

The engagements I mentioned were all reported on the BBC website, for anyone who cared to look. The Estonia visit, with the Presidential meeting and William in a tank, was quite widely reported - it was an important show of support both for British troops and those small countries bordering Russia.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/04/2025 17:21

I've never been clear about what it is that Travalysta actually does, even after reading their website

Nor me, @MissRoseDurward, but I've just read it again and it seems to be about "delivering information" which has actually been spearheaded by others such as Booking.com who they've "brought together"
So in other words piggybacking on the work of someone else and trying to claim they drove it (try to be surprised Hmm)

Oh, and their very first "key finding" says "Travellers are not yet taking action at the level needed to deliver impact at scale" ... but then neither are you, sunshine, so don't bother lecturing us

Good, Prince William. This is the level of visibility we need to see as the norm.

My view is that their approach is led by William in a direct response to his own childhood and a desire not to repeat the patterns of Charles and Diana.

It seemed as though Diana and Charles led parallel lives even in the early days of their marriage. Working and spending time mostly separately.

We know they were encouraged by the Queen to take the early marriage years for themselves to build strong roots. It’s a good plan for a couple who will be working in the public eye until William dies. Otherwise you end up as polite strangers in your later years.

I think William wants to have the Middleton family model for his own children - probably now more than ever - loyal siblings who stick together and have each other’s backs.

Now William is the heir he does seem to be stepping up the engagements and the high profile nature of them.
