Harry "imperious"? Yes, we've seen that a lot.

To come back to the point I made earlier ”This has now gone well beyond actual an management and trustee issue”

It has. So I don’t think the main issue has anything to do with whatever has happened at Sentebale. It has moved on to personal attacks on Sophie Chandauka. Which are surely unacceptable. So waiting for all the info on Sentebale is now less relevant 🤷‍♀️

What a horrible mess.

She should not have commissioned expensive consultants without the approval of the rest of the board.

It was board approved, in fact Harry was at two of the panel discussions, in Miami and in Johannesburg, with was organised by said consultants.

Everyone knew there were consultants on board to try to bring in new sponsors and pivot the charity to Southern Africa and US.

I think the former board is suffering a bit of collective buyers remorse. They thought the investment would create big returns - but investments are not guaranteed.

What a horrible mess.

Isn't it just? Something which was set up with the best of intentions, had come to this.

I hope so, and that no permanent damage is done to her reputation.

It seems the two princes are still trying to engineer her exit. Publicly, via the PR we are seeming, slurring her as a bossy, incompetent grifter.

Behind the scenes, who knows what damage they are doing to the ability of the charity to raise funds in the UK and USA at least.

Looks like act 3 in their attempt to oust her, ruin Sentebale, and then (as she claimed they wanted) ride back in to reclaim "their" charity and save the day.

Typo edits.

Edited

I hope so too. The new board she has put together looks quite strong. The two prince's have no power to force her to stand down. Now, that would be a decision for the new board. Harry's reputation is now so poor that lots of people will ignore what he says. Another hope of mine is that the work of the Charity speaks for itself and that funders are attracted on the merit of the work being done.

Harry might have done better at Eton if he'd actually put in some effort. In Spare he describes his history teacher's attempts to rouse a spark of interest. He seems to have no intellectual curiosity.

TBH he didn't need any.

He knew he could coast by as the Prince of Wales' son, there were fewer demands on him as the second son and everyone has tiptoed around him and made excuses for him for almost 3 decades because his mother died.

BemusedAmerican · 02/04/2025 12:09

SC completely call it in her interview with Trevor Phillips. When she kept referring to The Sussex Machine, I realized that she knew what would happen to her.

What sprang to mind yesterday when I read this thread was the movie "A Man for a Seasons." We watched it when I was in high school before a discussion on how in US Courts we are innocent until proven guilty, and on how our jury selection process works. Thomas More knew he was going to the Tower but still stood up for his principles. SC knew that she was about to enter Hell, but she still stood up for herself.

The wannabe Henry VIII look is not a good one for Harry.

I know nothing about how charities are run and don't know the background of the ex trustees but it seems to me that anyone appointed should have a solid business background , I'd be useless as I wouldn't know if suggested investments etc were a good or bad idea.

Page Six 9 hours ago has a headline calling her poisonous (in quotes) and accused of playing the race card ( also in quotes).

Her case seems to be losing momentum in the press.

A shame if Prince Seeiso is actively involved in this. A man of his age and experience should know better. He's a former High Commissioner!

BemusedAmerican · 02/04/2025 12:24

If the expensive consultants pointed out ( don't know if they did or not) that part of the problem was Harry's reputation in the US, UK, and Africa (African Parks came out in 2023) they were completely right. Harry made the whole thing worse last week.

Any people looking at jobs with the Sussexes should look at what is happening to SC and think twice.

Profhilodisaster · 02/04/2025 12:30

Do any of the PR experts on here think that Meredith Maines should have stepped in by now? Or is it best she stays out of it?

If you look at the comments, not only are they pro-SC but people are suggesting that Meghan is the insider.

It doesn’t need to be an annual cost before it becomes a disproportionate cost for a small charity.

Not if you take into account of it’s aims

LemonLeaves · 02/04/2025 12:35

If there were credible concerns about her conduct then the former trustees are legally obliged to report this to the CC. They haven't.

If the former trustees had hard evidence of SC mismanaging to the extent that it justified them all existing in a massive resignation, then it should have been out in the open by now - none has been produced.

Resorting to racist smears against SC, her family, and even the journalist that interviewed her, just shows how utterly insubstantial their argument is. And just to make it even more ludicrous, there's an old boy network contact from PH's school days, to help speak on his behalf. If there were a smoking gun, then why is the bullshit machine is running on these fumes? If the best you can do is personal attacks, then you are losing the argument.

I think she's now trying to wait it out, and very good luck to her. The revolting racist attacks and smears must be so gruelling to have to ensure. But it's a smart move not to get drawn into a PR tennis match of serve + return.

If she's as clever and sensible as she's reputed to be, then she will have hard evidence stacked up. If she's been transparent with the new board and they and the trustees are satisfied that she's right and has the proof to boot, then they shouldn't have any reason not to back her. In which case they are now in the "sit and wait" phase of the CC doing its job.

I have just seen this on X. It’s absolutely appalling anyone in the public eye should be involved in this, never mind a member of the RF.

On a humorous detour, Meghan is selling a boxed shortbread cookie mix "with flower sprinkles"! I'm really thinking those flower sprinkles will turn out to be a pricey choking hazard. But I'm not psychic so I'm sure that I am wrong.

I think "flower sprinkles" will be a short lived fad if indeed anyone actually buys them - like when chucking lavender into baking was a thing or flowers in salad.
