I did nothing of the sort these are your aspersions based on nothing that I have posted.

Didn't you say you were going to Bakewell. Despite all your protestations of reserving judgement here you still are, you little tease.

Ironically, H/Haz/Harold/Harry might have been better off at Gordonstoun. It didn't suit Charles (although I don't think Prince Philip sent him there out of cruelty)

At a previous school the founder, Kurt Hahn, included this in the statement about the ethos he wanted to create.

"Free the sons of the wealthy and powerful from the enervating sense of privilege."

Might have helped.

Yes, it may have done him some good.
No doubt that would have provided more fodder for his professional victimhood though.

Nearly ready I am being dragged back in by nostalgia for times past .... and a lively thread about Andrew !

I'm not sure why the proximity to Windsor Castle is important for a boarding school. Harry's father did not live at Windsor but spent his time at Clarence House in London and Highgrove in Gloucestershire.

Still rather different to six miles outside Elgin.

Better not get drawn into discussing long gone members, it normally leads to deleted posts.

She should not have commissioned expensive consultants without the approval of the rest of the board.

It was board approved, in fact Harry was at two of the panel discussions, in Miami and in Johannesburg, with was organised by said consultants.

Everyone knew there were consultants on board to try to bring in new sponsors and pivot the charity to Southern Africa and US.

No one is dragging you in on this thread, your waxing lyrical on another thread can only be beneficial for this one

Hence my next sentence: “If she did convince the board then that level of spend, whilst it may seem cheap to a multinational conglomerate, is disproportionate for a smallish charity.

No it wouldn’t. This wasn’t an annual cost.

This was a project to help pivot the charity towards US funding partners. The contract completed in Oct 2024.

I come back to a point I made earlier though. Do you not think that whatever is happening at Sentebale is less now less relevant than the racial slurs that have been made about SC via Harry’s “friend”?

MissRoseDurward · 02/04/2025 11:20

Harry might have done better at Eton if he'd actually put in some effort. In Spare he describes his history teacher's attempts to rouse a spark of interest. He seems to have no intellectual curiosity.

Thedom · 02/04/2025 11:21

How do we know she 'convinced' the board ?

Maybe the board just didn't give a shit, didn't really care about what went on as long as Harry was happy, so coasted along doing Harry's bidding, until the real shit hit the fan, and now they are desperately trying to put the spotlight and blame on the black woman who refused to be a part of Harry and Meghans PR game.

Or maybe they all thought it was a fantastic idea and all agreed it was the correct strategy and voted in the proposal.

Rhaidimiddim · 02/04/2025 11:23

SC seems to be really losing the PR war. After a solid performance on TV, her reputation is now being trashed by slurs and allegations being repeated in headlines from "sources" in publications here and in the USA.

Quite. Plus the whole point was that it was nearer to the late Queen and Philip, frequently at Windsor.
But whatever they did, it wouldn't have been good enough for Harry, a most persecuted man.

No surprise there, the Sussexs and their global PR team have a direct line to any media organisation they want. Harry even directly emails People magazine with 'scoops'. .

Sophie is an individual without any of the means of the Sussex duo and nor does she have an army of vicious fans coming up the rear.

To come back to the point I made earlier ”This has now gone well beyond actual an management and trustee issue”

I see it differently. Her detractors, some who know her personally, many who do not, are not producing evidence for what they are saying. She on the other hand is quietly getting on with her job and allowing the occasional statement to be released rather than indulging in a cat fight. And she knows she does have evidence for the assertions she has made so far. She's playing a waiting game.

More dignified I think to say nothing and not lower herself to their level. Better to keep quiet and let them show themselves up for the nasty pieces of work they are. (But have her lawyers keeping an eye out for anything actionable.)

I expect she knew this would happen but as a professional I doubt she would have expected the sheer tsunami of hate, she works in a corporate world where there are rules and decorum. People always moan that no one stands up to the markles, this is why, it's not worth the aggro when you can walk away unscathed. This is how bullies and wankers win. They just bulldoze over people while claiming the victim moral high ground.
You only have to look at the sycophants and apologists on here, perfectly happy with racist attacks on a woman trying to do her job in a professional manner.

I don't know, it feels like everything she said would happen if she tied herself in (either positively or negatively) with "brand Sussex" is happening. I hardly matters now whether she was the worst chair to ever chair a charity (which I highly doubt is the case|). The Sussex machine, and Harry and Meghan - complicit As Ever in their silence - is vindicating everything she said about how the circles around those two work, their racism, bullying and harassment.

IdaGlossop · 02/04/2025 11:39

It doesn’t need to be an annual cost before it becomes a disproportionate cost for a small charity.

That's true. What may also be true is that the 65 new US sources of possible funding have been identified and relationships built by the American consultancy they hired. If the trustees agreed that the charity needed new income sources urgently, new funding is forthcoming and the charity is saved, it's £500,000 well spent. This is the scenario SC is suggesting. Depending on the deliverables agreed with the consultant and the amount of funding generated, it may be possible in time to demonstrate good value for money.

I hope so, and that no permanent damage is done to her reputation.

It seems the two princes are still trying to engineer her exit. Publicly, via the PR we are seeming, slurring her as a bossy, incompetent grifter.

Behind the scenes, who knows what damage they are doing to the ability of the charity to raise funds in the UK and USA at least.

Looks like act 3 in their attempt to oust her, ruin Sentebale, and then (as she claimed they wanted) ride back in to reclaim "their" charity and save the day.

Typo edits.

RandyRedHumpback · 02/04/2025 11:48

Isn't Sophie's family a major donor to Sentebale - possibly THE major donor? Risky strategy trying to trash her reputation. I'm sure she has more friends on the ground than Harry does.
