My family set up a charity after my nephew died, it is registered, it is to give a 5 day holiday to families, that being disability, hard times etc, the trustees decide after doing a lot of research as to who will get the holiday, if it was left to certain members of the family, those holidays would be going to their mates if it was up to them.

Well, if most of the board is united against the chair, that tells us a lot—unless we want to go down a rabbit hole of decolonization and misogynoir narratives. And if we do, then that brush needs to be applied equally to the BRF, not just to H&M.

Why? Why should it be applied to the BRF? It's been made clear that if countries wish to leave the Commonweath they are entirely free to do so and will go with blessings. Interestingly, a few none " old empire" countries that were not originally in the Commonwealth have wanted in recently.

The RF isn't perfect. None of us are perfect. I have never however though set up a "friend" to make such an attack on anyone as Harry did with Alex Rayner today.

It has bitten his own backside for very good reason.

One of my tasks to do is to rewrite the governance document to allow virtual meetings but as of the moment we don't have anything that mentions that - we probably should. Our turnover is 160k so we are small beer in the scheme of things. A cursory view of Senetable doesn't suggest there is a term limit.

https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/en/charity-search/-/charity-details/4022923/charity-overview

you'll note that the CC site explains that they don't hold the full constitutional document for any charity, (mine included!) so you can't infer anything. Presumably, though as as trustee, you'll have received and read the constitution for hte charity you are working with? If not, I'd urge you to get a copy so you are fully aware of your responsibilities -you'd hate to fall foul of charity guidlines I'm sure.

I'm so dreadfully sorry I didn't trawl through 4000 vitriolic posts.

Erm, how do you know they are "vitriolic" if you haven't read them?

So you accept that he instructed his friend to tell the DM that Dr C was jealous of Meghan being a more important woman of colour, thus reducing them both to their race. Do you think he shouldn't have been torn to shreds for this racist narrative?

Not only to their race, but also their sex. Didn’t Meghan proclaim Harry was a feminist

”And, when talk moved onto feminism, Markle shared the sweetest sentiment about Prince Harry. Responding to Steinem saying that “you can be a feminist and be masculine and be a guy,” the duchess said: “Like my husband! I love that when he just came in he said, ‘You know that I’m a feminist too, right Gloria?! It’s really important that you know that.’”

@Not2identifying But if he does want to respond, he could take a leaf out of Sophie's book and he could do a short interview where he allows them to really challenge his account and ask tough questions. (Underlining mine)

😂😂😂😂 & he will do it on Tibb's eve.

Er, no "we" don't need to talk about the RF. The matter at hand is Sentebale and the way Sophie Chandauka was treated since she became chair in 2023. The RF has nothing to do with it.

Did Baroness Chalker's Africa Matters business consultancy sell any services to Sentebale?

On the principle of "innocent until proven guilty," it’s up to you to demonstrate a conflict of interest—if one exists. I have no idea. She did sell out to a highly corporate company, and she was a Tory, so I’m prepared to concede there may have been some mercenary intent behind her endeavors!

Baroness Lynda Chalker, a prominent British politician and former Minister for Africa and Overseas Development, founded Africa Matters Limited (AML) in 1997 after leaving government service. AML is an independent consultancy that provides advice and assistance to companies initiating, developing, or expanding their activities in Africa. The firm's mission is to promote and facilitate international investment into African businesses, ensuring positive outcomes for investors, host governments, and local communities.

Under Baroness Chalker's leadership, AML assembled a team of advisers with extensive experience in African cultures, business environments, and development issues. This expertise enabled the firm to guide clients through the complexities of operating on the continent, offering services such as business intelligence, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability consulting.
PR Newswire

In June 2023, AML was acquired by J.S. Held, a global consulting firm providing technical, scientific, financial, and strategic expertise. This acquisition expanded J.S. Held's reach in Africa and integrated AML's specialized knowledge into its broader service offerings

There are examples of men who do actually support feminism but it involves deeds not cheap words.

How else is he meant to respond? He can't win either way. Outright discussion - torn to shreds, through a friend - torn to shreds. Complete silence? Torn to shreds.

Maybe he shouldn't have acted as arrogantly as he did in the first place. Then he would not be in this position?

"Never complain never explain" has worked pretty well for the rest of his family in the wake of his antics!

Don't you think that comment by his Hooray Henry mate is just awful??!

vera99 · 01/04/2025 22:44

Fair enough—Sentebale is the focus here. But if narratives about decolonization and misogynoir are going to be brought into the discussion, then consistency matters. If these dynamics apply to Sophie Chandauka’s treatment, why wouldn’t they also apply in broader contexts, including the RF? If we’re examining power structures and bias, surely they don’t exist in a vacuum?"

Discuss it then, perhaps linking the RFs role in Harry’s display of behaviour against Dr Sophie…………..

These narratives have been claimed by Dr C with regard to a specific group of people, the trustees and the patrons od Sentebale, and nobody else. No discussion outside of that context is necessary on this thread, unless you are looking to derail it.

Because Harry left the royal family after proclaiming them and the British media racist or unconsciously biased. Harry and his establishments need to be considered a separate entity considering the extent he went to tar his family. If you want to talk about racism, sexism and misogynoir in the royal family, feel free to start a seperate thread. The fact that Harry has called all this out but now seems to be just as culpable and guilty when a woman of colour speak out against him makes him worse in my eyes. He’s a hypocrite.

Ohpleeeease · 01/04/2025 22:52

The more information emerges, the more this looks like a classic internal dispute. They can get very ugly, but ultimately are for the trustees to resolve between themselves.

Harry made this unholy mess public and now he’s upset that things aren’t going his way. I reserve judgement about SC, too many unknowns, but what she is is a woman who won’t be bullied or belittled by an inferior male and I applaud her for that.

We're discussing Sentebale.

We know the 5 trustees were united against the chair. The article doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know.
For example, there are over 100 people employed by Sentebale. Maybe they were united against the 5 trustees? We don't know. There's no 'gotcha' in the article.

vera99 · 01/04/2025 22:56

Well, this is the Royal Family board—many here believe H&M have checked out of that "august" institution. Yet, 12 of the top 15 threads are about these hapless individuals who, while certainly no saints, do not deserve the level of vitriol displayed here. Justine is right—it’s unhinged. Surely, a more noble endeavour would be to ignore them and instead highlight the achievements of those currently serving. Or maybe that's the problem.

Maybe stay on focus of the topic rather than derailing? This is a thread about Harry and Sentebale. Feel free to start a thread about the royal family and racism/misogyny/misogynoir. We will continue to call out Harry’s bullying, misogynoir and sexism of a woman of colour, who dared to speak out against him.
