it is understood that the row is centred around a loss in trust and confidence in the chair.

Sophie Chandauka, a Zimbabwe-born lawyer, was appointed to the post last year and is understood to be suing the trustees after they questioned whether she was best placed to chair the board.

Siding with the departing trustees, the princes’ statement said: “These trustees acted in the best interest of the charity in asking the chair to step down, while keeping the wellbeing of staff in mind. In turn, she sued the charity to remain in this voluntary position, further underscoring the broken relationship

Didn’t see that coming.

AtIusvue · 25/03/2025 22:44

Seemingly the charity commission is involved with looking at governance. So I’m guessing that’s why he’s quit?

Seems so odd to walk away from your own charity because of one person. There’s more to it clearly

Interesting…

AtIusvue · 25/03/2025 22:47

Part of Harry’s statement:

'Our priority has always been, and will always be, what's in the best interest of the charity, and it's desperately sad the breakdown in relationship escalated to a lawsuit by the chair against the charity, to block us from voting her out after our request for her resignation was rejected.
'We could not in good conscience allow Sentebale to undertake that legal and financial burden and have been left with no other option but to vacate our positions.
'This was not a choice willingly made, but rather something we felt forced into in order to look after the charity.'

ehhhh….why cant Harry put his hands into his pocket to fight this legal fight but he’s more than happy to sue newspapers left, right and centre.
None of this makes sense

OP posts:
MayaKovskaya · 25/03/2025 22:50

He could easily have taken on the financial burden himself, he's a very rich man. I don't understand. He's usually so keen to sue?

AtIusvue · 25/03/2025 22:52

Sounds like the chair got rid of all Harry’s posho pals who live in the UK, who were on the board, replacing them with local experts. Which makes complete sense to me!

OP posts:
AtIusvue · 25/03/2025 22:55

Basically, they’ve replaced all the posh white men who don’t even live on the continent, with local experts. How’s that a bad thing Harry?

So the jolly for Harry’s pals is over. No more polo matches! So Harry’s quit!

This just makes him look bad .

I am not sure it is as simple as that. No doubt it will all come out in due course. If it was just about personalites I doubt the Charity Commission would want to be involved but no doubt we shall see.

Whatever the truth behind it all, and whatever mistakes and misteps Harry may have taken in various ways, I believe that Sentebale was important to him and to Prince Seeiso in memory of their mothers and I thought this was at least strong and solid and it is sad that it has now become troubled in this way.

AtIusvue · 25/03/2025 22:59

Sentebale:

'This followed Sentebale’s confirmation of its strategy to redeploy senior roles to be proximate to most of the team and programmes in Southern Africa. The recalibration of the Board is, therefore, part of Sentebale’s ambitious transformation agenda.'

So all the hooray Henry’s got kicked out 😂

Read the Mail article and it shows you all the people that have left the charity recently and read Sentebale statement. It’s pretty clear.

Shits hit the fan.

She is calling out Harry for using the press that he claims to hate

That this is a vanity project for Harry

Looks like there questions around racism too!

Sophie Chandauka MBE told The Sun: "I chose to join Sentebale first and foremost as a proud African who understands that, in the spirit of ubuntu: to whom much is given, much is expected.
"Everything I do at Sentebale is in pursuit of the integrity of the organisation, its mission, and the young people we serve.
"My actions are guided by the principles of fairness and equitable treatment for all, regardless of social status or financial means.
"There are people in this world who behave as though they are above the law and mistreat people, and then play the victim card and use the very press they disdain to harm people who have the courage to challenge their conduct.
"Discerning readers will ask themselves: why would the Chair of the Board report her own Trustees to the Charity Commission?
"Why would the High Court of England and Wales hear her case and issue an emergency injunction to prevent the same Trustees from removing her as the Chair of the Board?
"Well, because beneath all the victim narrative and fiction that has been syndicated to press is the story of a woman who dared to blow the whistle about issues of poor governance, weak executive management, abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyny, misogynoir – and the coverup that ensued.
"I could be anyone. I just happen to be an educated woman who understands that the law will guide and protect me. I will say nothing further on this matter at this time.
"I have one job. I must focus on fundraising for the very important work of the young people who inspire the incredible team at Sentebale who make sacrifices daily at a time when geopolitics is severely impacting funding for development work in Africa.
"For me, this is not a vanity project from which I can resign when I am called to account.
"I am an African who has had the privilege of a worldclass education and career. I will not be intimidated.
"I must stand for something. I stand for those other women who do not have the ways and means.
"I am indebted to those who have stood by me and picked up my urgent call for help so that we can continue the mission at Sentebale.
"I will continue to faithfully perform my role as Chair of the Board, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with others who are interested in issues of health, wealth and climate resilience for young people in Africa."

So this is why he has resigned and doesn’t want to fight the case.

He doesn’t want all this info coming out.

Wow that statement! In the words of Diana, she won’t go quietly!

mainecooncatonahottinroof · 26/03/2025 00:45

Wow!!! There is clearly a lot to unfold!!

IAmATorturedPoet · 26/03/2025 00:49

Sounds like there is a lot more to come out here.
She obviously isn’t playing ball so they have all flounced.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 26/03/2025 01:06

It sounds as if they are running scared rather than flouncing. I don’t think anyone has ever stood up to Harry so publicly ever before.
There are people in this world who behave as though they are above the law and mistreat people, and then play the victim card and use the very press they disdain to harm people who have the courage to challenge their conduct.

BemusedAmerican · 26/03/2025 01:14

She is the woman who was shoved aside when Harry, Meghan, and Nacho posed with the trophy at the polo match.

She has guts and a sense of honor. Good for her!

Edited for typos.

Snorlaxo · 26/03/2025 01:19

I wonder if a statement about African Parks will be next?

IAmATorturedPoet · 26/03/2025 01:25

@BigWillyLittleTodger Could well be running scared. Will be interesting to see how this develops.

That’s one hell of a statement.

CrocsNotDocs · 26/03/2025 02:34

Maybe when Prince William said “we are very much not a racist family” he meant to precede it with “now that Harry has left us, ….”

StartupRepair · 26/03/2025 04:13

So they appointed a strong local professional who moved it from being a white saviour organisation to something locally grounded and run?

HelenWheels · 26/03/2025 04:19

Prince Harry and the co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho both stepped down as patrons on Tuesday until further notice after trustees quit over a dispute with the chair, Dr Sophie Chandauka, a lawyer who was appointed in 2023.

HelenWheels · 26/03/2025 04:20

not harry and his posho white friends as said above
