Hi everyone! As suggested on another thread, I’m starting this to provide some balance to the MM / MS threads which have been perceived as bullying and not joyful.

So please feel free to join in and share something pleasant and joyful about your day or any comments about MM / MS as an antidote if the other threads have caused you upset. Please be nice!

I’ll begin by saying that writing notes by hand is a lovely thing to do, and conveys sincerity beyond any effusive email or text message. And nice handwriting is a bonus! Hand cramp is a problem of the digital age.

Also, I’ve watched two episodes of the series now, and I love the garden plants in California. Waiting for the spring to bloom here!

Philip had many years to apologise. He didn’t. He was an offensive, rude, racist, old fashioned man who made repeated unacceptable comments proving he would not learn better behaviours and was unwilling to change. The world is better without people like him.

So because Phillip didn’t apologise, you’re excusing Harry’s use of an offensive racist term then?
shame on you!

The British Government, while patrolling the high seas to stop slavery, also turned a blind eye to the new form it assumed in Australia which was under British colonisation.

Also, does anyone rightfully angry at Harry for being a racist also feel angry at his adult family members from whom he learned it? Did none of of them correct Phillip's racism and prevent it being taught to Harry? Or did they think similarly and just didn’t say it publicly?

If Phillip publicly called people “p” , “n” or ragheads( apologies ) then yes I would condemn him.
did he?

Have you had the chance to watch the whole series? I was fascinated by the episode when she was playing Mahjong - it reminded me of when it used to be bundled on old Windows PCs - I think we had it as part of a games bundle on Windows ?93. I had no idea wtf I as playing but it occupied many hours of time instead of doing my homework 🤣.

It seems the Hummingbird has a special significance for Harry

Prince Harry is touching upon the strange visits he got from a hummingbird at his home in California after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Writing in his memoir 'Spare', the Duke of Sussex reveals he was told the bird in some cultures represents spirits.

He pens: "Soon after our return, a hummingbird got into the house. I had a devil of a time guiding it out, and the thought occurred that maybe we should start shutting the doors, despite those heavenly ocean breezes. Then a mate said: Could be a sign, you know? Some cultures see hummingbirds as spirits, he said. Visitors, as it were. Aztecs thought them reincarnated warriors. Spanish explorers called them “resurrection birds.”

Harry adds: "So, naturally, when this hummingbird arrived, and swooped around our kitchen, and flitted through the sacred airspace we call Lili Land, where we’ve set the baby’s playpen with all her toys and stuffed animals, I thought hopefully, greedily, foolishly: Is our house a detour—or a destination?"

My and DH used to play MahJong a lot. I used to love it, but we moved onto different things. Would love to play it again

Do you think the things he did say were ok? The comments about slitty eyes, throwing spears, the fuse box to name just a few. You don’t condemn those?

Yay! A topic that’s within my abilities 😬 I played mahjong and minesweeper. I still don’t fully know how they are really meant to be played, I think I muddled through those hundreds (!) of carefree hours.

Gg to watch hummingbird videos now. They’re striking in how they hover.

Be warned, you may lose hours to hummingbird videos. Or maybe that’s just me. Blush

I’ve never seen a hummingbird in real life. I wish I’d looked for them when visiting America.

They are really magical looking.

I’ve seen the video of Harry intently watching a hummingbird hovering right in front of him. He’s trying to encourage Archie to look, but Archie is off screen more interested in his own dirty foot in that moment.

@Watchedeverything - I hadn't noticed your post saying you looked at hummingbirds on YouTube - you are the expert. I think you have opened a whole lovely area of entertainment to a new audience 😁💐

My ‘syrupy’ review of Meghan’s WLM.

I just watched the Vicki Tsai episode of WLM and it worked well. I think they made a mistake not going with this episode first and the Chef Choi episode second. Meghan was more relaxed, and she and Vicki seem to have quite a long easy friendship going back to The Tig years. (She was also at M&H’s wedding). They are obviously really good friends and Vicki now lives in the same area. They swapped stories about their mums.

I laughed out loud when Vicki related an anxiety dream she’d had the the night before. I have them too, and mine are just as silly as hers.

The music is really good in this show. Obviously Montecito is gorgeous. I like that they leave in the cooking mistakes. The kitchen is bland but I’d love to have the stove, fridge and microwave drawer, for sure.

I’ve watched the Mindy Kaling episode and they both seemed nervous which was distracting. And I’ve watched half of the Abigail and Kelly episodes and strangely they all seem a little nervous. I think the episodes work better when the guest and Meghan are working together. And Meghan has the guests teach how to make a dish.

So far, I’m enjoying it. It’s easy to watch and very pretty and Meghan does (get a drink ready) ‘elevate’ the look of baskets full of produce and charcuterie boards. She’s got an eye for it.

Extiainoiapeial · 23/03/2025 07:32

Yes I agree @RevolutionaryMode I loved the music too!

I like the look of that chicken with the Chef but it really is a bit of a faff brining things, I think some recipes talk of even brining your Christmas Turkey! I also agree she seemed more nervous in some episodes than others.

The three friends episode made me think of the three friends in White Lotus 😂and there is no doubt when two of the three together they will be speaking about the one that isn't there!

Here is a list of all the music played for each episode, a lot of thought went into the soundtrack

i see the usual subjects have derailed the thread. one rule for them and one for others.

myrtleWilson · 23/03/2025 08:41

Brining isn’t a faff at all!

myrtleWilson · 23/03/2025 08:43

Pressed post too soon. I don’t like turkey but used Nigella’s brine recipe for a capon and it was great. Also brine pork chops for top tier succulence
