A genuinely nice and friendly thread about Meghan

Hi everyone! As suggested on another thread, I’m starting this to provide some balance to the MM / MS threads which have been perceived as bullying and not joyful.

So please feel free to join in and share something pleasant and joyful about your day or any comments about MM / MS as an antidote if the other threads have caused you upset. Please be nice!

I’ll begin by saying that writing notes by hand is a lovely thing to do, and conveys sincerity beyond any effusive email or text message. And nice handwriting is a bonus! Hand cramp is a problem of the digital age.

Also, I’ve watched two episodes of the series now, and I love the garden plants in California. Waiting for the spring to bloom here!

@RevolutionaryMode and @Extiainoiapeial I'm glad you liked the music too. It seems to not go down with most critics but I actually liked it - I said so in a whisper in a post upthread thinking I was a lone vice. Glad not to be. Thank you for posting the link to it. I'm not sure I'll listen to it stand alone but I think it fitted with the lovely shots of the garden , views etc.

I like Gogglebox. They did a clip from the Mindy Kaling episode "you know I'm Sussex now" . I do have to say it didn't improve with a 2nd viewing. IMHO awkward and a bit snippy. If she wanted to publicise this name , couldn't she have referred to herself as Meghan Sussex on the end credits rather than Meghan, DoS. I think the problem with this series is it's a curate's egg. There's some things to like but there's enough which justifies the poor critical reviews. I wonder if 2nd drop can still be edited to big up the bits which ere commented favourably on and minimise the other bits.

Yes, I agree, I think because she's lost weight and it's gone from her face, she looks different. As we age, our faces get thinner anyway.

I'm bucking that trend, podgy face here and I'm aged !

I actually like both the Sussexes and some of the RF members. I didn’t watch her show, that's not really my vibe.

Most of people my generation (Gen Z) didn't really watch either.

I definitely think she's overhated. This is getting ridiculous at this point. She left 5 years ago. It's done. Also, I don't think she's as hated in the UK as people believe. She's not on the cover of magazines everyday. If you want to find news on her, you have to go to the royal section of the DM, the Sun,... haters are basically seeking articles about her. If you hate her so much, don't read articles about her, don't watch her projects because you're only making her more famous.

I think there's blame on all sides. None of these people are perfect.

Do I believe the racist comment allegation? It could be possible, absolutely but the way they've dealt with it has been weird imo. They should've just outed the person (or people) and be done with it. Instead, it started this whole guessing game that is still ongoing today. And then for Harry to come out two years later, blaming the media for accusing his family of racism when he told Oprah privately that neither the Queen nor Prince Philip made the comment, knowing the reaction it would get is pure gaslighting

I truly believe both the Sussexes and Waleses PRs are still competing with each other, which is weird because Meghan is basically an influencer now and the RF are basically ambassadors. Totally different but I think both sides are desperate to be liked by the public, the RF for the future of the monarchy and H&M for their brand. People mentioned the timing of Jason Knauf's interview but Harry and Meghan also have a history of dropping things during other royals' engagements, tours...

I do believe both sides have briefed against each other since the very beginning. Let's not forget Meghan and Harry secretly collaborated with Omid Scobie for his "Finding Freedom" book with email evidence and then lied to the court about it.

The way people twist everything she says or does if crazy. It kind of reminds me of Trump supporters vs Democrats. How a Trump supporter and a Democrat can watch a video and completely have totally different perceptions of what they see.

As for the fans, both sides are absolutely nuts. People say the hate on Meghan is a multimillion dollar industry but the hate on the Royal Family is an even bigger one. It's no coincidence that their most viewed projects are them criticising the institution.

I watched the full Oprah interview in 2023 for the 1st time and while there were some inconsistencies, I feel like some people just made lies up about that interview:

-She attacked Kate": She really didn't. She gave her version of events about the "Kate made Meghan cry drama (Unpopular opinion: I think this crying story became even bigger after the interview. I lived in the UK and didn't even heard of this story until the Oprah interview). She said that Kate apologises, brought her flowers and is a nice person. Also, after reading Spare, the hate Kate gets from Squaddies is weird. She seems a little uptight yes, but harmless

-She attacked the royal family: She really didn't say anything that bad compared to what Harry said, but he doesn't get 5% of the hate Meghan gets.

She clearly made the distinction between the family and the institution, that they went to the institution to get help. Harry even said that no one in the family knew of her struggles because he didn't tell them.
I think both sides need to chill. The energy that this family feud had brought out in people is insane, especially the Waleses vs Sussexes. The way their fans go after the other couple, attacking the marriages, the families, even all the kids. It just needs to stop. Both fandoms are obsessed with each other at this point.

And it's crazy that the women are the ones getting the most hate when the feud is clearly Harry vs William. People basically just say that Harry is getting manipulated.

William doesn't get near as much hate as Kate does by the Sussex Squad, to the point where white supremacist nicknames about her were trending the day of the Queen's funeral. Don't even get me started on what happened last year.

ENOUGH is ENOUGH.

I like Megan, she comes across like a kind person. I don't understand why people hate her so much. None of us is perfect and neither is Megan but she hasn't done anything to deserve all the hateful comments and bizarre stories written about her.

She's trying I suppose. I feel sorry for her slightly as the act of marrying Harry has meant that some people think that she has something exceptional and special about her when in reality as is becoming clear she is fairly mediocre. A similar thing happened to. Harry when he, a not very.bright.boy was sent to Eton, a school for hugely clever boys. It must have been horrendous and humiliating for him as he couldn't keep up. Meghan is finding the same.

@Thoughtsonstuff they had a lot of help though. The help and support for both overseas tours was good, and they didn't need to worry about the minutiae of life. Security, housekeeping, meals, transport, health, personal care, wardrobes, logistics etc - all taken care of.
However, you're right. It was too much for them. I think neither are really suited to a public role, or dealing with people.
I think a lifestyle show suits Meghan much better, and is really her level. Juggling outside the window is Harry's.

Tbf she did accuse her husbands family including near death grandparents (and knowing they were near death) of being racists to the entire World at the height of the BLM furore for maximum impact. (And then obviously admitting it wasn't actually true a few years later and they'd done it for show). I'd say that was pretty unforgivable. Unless you think thats cool and would be happy to shaft your own grandparents? Not many people would.

It's a huge pressure trying to be exceptional in front of the world but not having much actual talent. It must be horrific for them. Meghan dreamt of world wide fame..a real poison chalice and they've been so awful to their families that sympathy is limited from most people.

If I was her and wanted to do a successful show I'd just admit I was not To the Manor Born but someone who hasn't been brought up as an aristocrat but instead by a dad who did good in lighting and a mum who did who knows what. And who has suddenly found herself with fame and luxury and riches and she doesnt really know what the f she's doing as in social behaviour or etiquette or behaviour or anything. And how she's muddling on through. She doesnt need to pretend it comes naturally when it obviously doesnt. That would be so much more "authentic and organic" instead of pretending she's some weird stepford wife.
