A genuinely nice and friendly thread about Meghan

Hi everyone! As suggested on another thread, I’m starting this to provide some balance to the MM / MS threads which have been perceived as bullying and not joyful.

So please feel free to join in and share something pleasant and joyful about your day or any comments about MM / MS as an antidote if the other threads have caused you upset. Please be nice!

I’ll begin by saying that writing notes by hand is a lovely thing to do, and conveys sincerity beyond any effusive email or text message. And nice handwriting is a bonus! Hand cramp is a problem of the digital age.

Also, I’ve watched two episodes of the series now, and I love the garden plants in California. Waiting for the spring to bloom here!

Pointedly selective in who you are accusing of derailling the thread - why would you do that? Did you not see the other posters engaged in the derailing debate?

They have made personal attacks against a woman they don’t know on other threads, but they don’t seem to like that being pointed out.

Because the thread was clear that this should be one thread where people can make friendly comments. Just one thread that doesn't descend into the shit negative crap people post on all the othe threads open to them. If you can respect someone starting a thread and asking for it to be friendly then shame on you to be honest.

I haven't attacked anyone. I only wanted to talk about the bits I liked about Meghan and her series. It's very simple.

This sums it up for me (taken from Vogue)

A sceptical viewer might ask: Well, is she posh or isn’t she? I don’t know and I don’t care. I’m just here to kick back and watch this woman live her Mia Thermopolis life. She is simply exploring new hobbies, perhaps in an attempt to keep her mind off all of the awful headlines about her in the British tabloids. Once you accept that this show is nothing more than a no-longer-senior royal making balloon arches and – vitally – elevating crudités, you can start to enjoy it. I liked watching her showcase her middling skill at objectively frivolous tasks

The op was also perfectly clear that this thread was not set up to be a thread fawning over Meghan , the op was perfectly clear that it was set up for friendly comments about Meghan AND between posters.
so all these aggressive comments to posters who don’t agree are definitely not in the spirit of the thread.

The positives I see are:
Harry seems smitten still. He appreciates goodness in a person and sees it in her.
She is not a criminal.
She does charitable work.
Her friends and the family members who’ve stood by her like her and they seem nice.
When I’ve heard her talk about herself, she seems to genuinely want to make people around her feel good.
She recognised that being a working royal did not suit her and made a sensible decision to go home to what she knew.
From what I saw, she got on well with the Queen and the Queen had compassion for her.

She made a poor judgement by so publicly criticising the royal family and she appears to lack self awareness when she speaks which makes her a target. It’s easy to bully someone who seems to lack self awareness. It doesn’t mean she’s a bad person though.

All I can see are some posters ganging up and bullying one poster at a time who doesn’t agree with them!
advance searching a posters username and using it against them is the actions of an obsessive bully.

I had asked posters on another thread why they blindly defend two liars and bullies, I haven’t received an answer, it’s clear now to me why some posters do.

The problem is that some of the " positive posters" couldn't do that either - they had to have a dig at others who were not even on the thread. That is an invitation. Yes I could go and watch videos of humming birds or pick wild garlic or decorate a banana but I can only stand so much hypocrisy.

That's lovely. That's certainly one way of summing up the show.

It’s the actions of a person pondering why someone who is a prolific poster on a Meghan bashing thread would come onto a thread specifically for positivity toward Meghan. It took me all of 1 minute to find that out, and point it out.

I’ve never had any kind of problem with her but am not invested in the royals or the drama at all. Didn’t watch any of the interviews, didn’t read Spare, don’t click on Royal gossip links.

But I watched the first episode of her new show becuase I kept hearing bad things about it and millienials as a whole, and curiosity got the better of me. It’s fine. To be honest, she comes across as likeable.

But why would you go searching for someone’s posting history ? What’s the point? I thought that was against Mumsnet rules?

I was hopeful when I read the thread title, I should have known better.

I have never understood the amount of hatred Meghan or Harry get. I once said I liked an outfit she wore and that I felt sorry for her and had lots of posters ganging up to tell me I was wrong. Someone even sent me a nasty PM in response. MNHQ once said the Meghan haters are deranged. 🤪🤪🤪

I’ve only watched the first episode of her show so far but I enjoyed it. I will try to finish it this week so I can add more to the thread after that. Most people I know that have watched it have enjoyed it. 🐝
