A genuinely nice and friendly thread about Meghan

Hi everyone! As suggested on another thread, I’m starting this to provide some balance to the MM / MS threads which have been perceived as bullying and not joyful.

So please feel free to join in and share something pleasant and joyful about your day or any comments about MM / MS as an antidote if the other threads have caused you upset. Please be nice!

I’ll begin by saying that writing notes by hand is a lovely thing to do, and conveys sincerity beyond any effusive email or text message. And nice handwriting is a bonus! Hand cramp is a problem of the digital age.

Also, I’ve watched two episodes of the series now, and I love the garden plants in California. Waiting for the spring to bloom here!

I think he said he didn’t call them racist, which he technically didn’t, as he didn’t use the word. I think he went on to talk about unconscious bias.

Personally I believe expressing concern over skin colour is racist. If Harry doesn’t recognise it as racism, then he thinks differently to me.

the pair of them also picked up an award about it. I think it was the RFK award

you’ve picked out one point of the above post and argued against it:

You are right, people can be Meghan anti fans’ without being fans of Kate.

I take it you agree with the rest of that post though?

Not all of no as think it’s a lazy assumption which is so often made. I do agree about the waffle thing though. That’s a bit of nonsense

Munnygirl · 24/03/2025 09:54

It was heavily implied and a person would be pretty daft not to recognise it as such. But there is no proof that they said anything

When you have been brought up in a family where racism is normalised and not challenged, like having a grandad that made repeated racist comments publicly that were not properly addressed, it can be difficult to see things. I’ve already mentioned a friend who was brought up in a racist family and how she had to unlearn what she was shown as a child and she didn’t always spot racism easily. It’s difficult for me to imagine but I know my friend isn’t ’daft‘.

RevolutionaryMode · 24/03/2025 10:10

When William said ‘we very much aren’t a racist family.’ I thought mate, you obviously don’t know family members. It was an unwise thing to say, as Phillip had been openly publicly racist at times, Harry had been too (and he admits it). That’s only what we know about.

William had also attended the party where Harry wore the Nazi uniform. It was called a ‘Colonial and Natives’ party. No one counseled both young royals that this was the wrong thing to do. My guess is that no one in their family, nor the advisors that surround and inform them, told Harry and William not to go and why such a party was wrong. By 2006, I had a fair understanding of colonization and what has happened under it. And I did not have the access to the education and historical records the RF members had.

This family, who benefited greatly from colonisation, had access to ALL the history and historians to inform them. They regularly visited countries their country had previously colonised and met with the people of those formerly colonised countries. That they weren’t educated in the evils of colonization, and the racism that underlined it, is obvious.

So again you are blaming everyone but Harry for his racism. And for him to pick up an award is hypocrisy at its finest. Harry was an adult when he said those things, he wasn’t a child and I’m sorry but I find it bizarre that you continue to blame his family for his behaviour. William is from the same family but hasn’t behaved that way

Wow. You apparently not seeing it is very ‘dismissive’ at best, at worst, well…

Disgusting. People very much do see it, which is why the press published so many racist headlines, articles, cartoons etc.

Well this made me laugh out loud 😳

You see, this is what bad disinforming journalism does.

In fact,

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, stepped out in New York City Tuesday night to receive an award for their humanitarian work.

The couple received the Ripple of Hope Award, an honor given by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization to leaders who have "demonstrated an unwavering commitment to social change and worked to protect and advance equity, justice, and human rights."
RFK awards. Ripple of Hope Award.

So no, they didn’t accept a medal for saying that Harry’s family was racist (which is what I think you were saying. Apologies if you weren’t).

I find it astonishing that you can’t see the hypocrisy in Harry collecting this award

Great post @RevolutionaryMode

They seem to think if they just ignore all this that people will forget. I would have more respect if they spoke about about their past racism and faced it head on. It would also mean William wasn’t put in a situation where he is heckled from the crowd about his family being racist, which is a tough situation to be in. He only had time to give a short reply which sounded insincere with the history, but if he’d have ignored the comment that would have been wrong too. Maybe when he is King he will do better and address the issues.

Yes, that’s fair. The journalists yelled the question when William was moving fast from one place to another I think he needed to address it later though. He didn’t. Hopefully he will do better when he’s King.

I so agree @RevolutionaryMode that they had the best experts, educators, historians at their fingertips but none of them thought to educate the younger members of the family. It was ingrained to be racist and I'm afraid to say I don't think much has changed. Charles tries. They pay lip service to it, but hang on, it was only 3 years ago (and how weird it was 3 years ago to the day) that Kate & W stood in an open top Landrover dressed in white waving to the troops looking all colonial. Did no one think... the optics on this might not be the best? Obviously not.

Did anyone see my link on the sweaters and T's she wore for the NF series? Some have sold out, some available in other colours.

Yes they did as per the words of Kerry Kennedy:

"They went to the oldest institution in U.K. history and told them what they were doing wrong, that they couldn't have structural racism within the institution; that they could not maintain a misunderstanding about mental health," she continued, referring to the British monarchy. "They knew that if they did this there would be consequences, that they would be ostracized, they would lose their family, their position within this structure, and that people would blame them for it. They have done it anyway because they believed they couldn't live with themselves if they didn't question this authority. I think they have been heroic in taking this step."

"Meghan says silly things occasionally and she contradicts herself at times and it also seems like she may embroider stories"

and there we have it on a positive thread about Meghan. Is this a positive way of saying she lies ?

Yes, again. A glaring ignorance of history. Unless Catherine and William turned up and the hosts suddenly said we are putting you in an open topped car etc.. I doubt it though, because everything is supposed to minutely planned before a tour.

Why are you personally attacking me (oh but I see you’ve done that before). You have blamed Harry’s racist tendencies on his family i.e. Philip. Well it seems to me that the entire family has learnt how NOT to behave like Philip apart from Harry who gave it free reign

Spectre8 · 24/03/2025 10:47

My God take your racism discussion off this thread. How hard is it for you read the OP post that this thread is about positive comments. Is it really that hard for some of you to keep away from one thread?

Why are you on this thread if you are only going to make negative comments?

Stop derailing the thread!
