A genuinely nice and friendly thread about Meghan

Hi everyone! As suggested on another thread, I’m starting this to provide some balance to the MM / MS threads which have been perceived as bullying and not joyful.

So please feel free to join in and share something pleasant and joyful about your day or any comments about MM / MS as an antidote if the other threads have caused you upset. Please be nice!

I’ll begin by saying that writing notes by hand is a lovely thing to do, and conveys sincerity beyond any effusive email or text message. And nice handwriting is a bonus! Hand cramp is a problem of the digital age.

Also, I’ve watched two episodes of the series now, and I love the garden plants in California. Waiting for the spring to bloom here!

It's a huge pressure trying to be exceptional in front of the world but not having much actual talent. It must be horrific for them. Meghan dreamt of world wide fame..a real poison chalice and they've been so awful to their families that sympathy is limited from most people.

Yes, I agree. However, I think it's possible to learn, to be interested in people and their lives and to focus on the bigger picture. I think Sophie has taken to it very well, for example. However, neither Meghan nor Harry are as willing, modest, conscientious or capable.

MyWiseGoose · 21/03/2025 15:23

If she's such a nice person why are there reports of her being a massive bully both in the UK and the US? I can't muster to say anything nice about a bully, sorry.

Then get off this thread

MonteShitshow · 23/03/2025 19:44

I really have no idea how to explain that I didn’t start this thread to bait the Meghan haters. There are plenty of critics threads: the posters on critical threads are formed of Meghan-critics and Meghan-cheerleaders.

The Meghan-cheerleaders on the critics threads can’t really get their praise across without being reminded of the bullying accusations etc, and it frequently descends into little arguments all over the thread. So the critique doesn’t get far, and the praise doesn’t get far either.

It was simply suggested that posters who want to say nice things about Meghan should start their own positive thread. Yet nobody did, despite how vehemently positive their comments were. I started one so that Meghan-cheerleaders and Meghan fans can have ONE thread on which to say their nice things, preferably with others who feel the same. That’s all.

I have nothing to gain from this thread. I’m not baiting Meghan-haters. There have been some very pleasant and interesting posts here, but I’m not savvy enough to manoeuvre the discussion in that same direction the whole time. I don’t read the magazine interviews or know the RF history well enough to comment on anything other than what I’ve seen from WLM (finished the third episode just now).

To those who think I’m baiting the haters, I’m guessing you’re the Meghan-cheerleaders and Meghan-fans. So why don’t you start by saying some nice things and use this thread for its original intended purpose? Alternatively please feel free to start another positive thread about MM, and let this one fizzle out.

I have very much enjoyed the third episode. Chef Roy is very comfortable in the kitchen, and Meghan engages in really easy-going chat with him. The doughnuts looked rather pretty with the glaze and dried flowers on - I prefer dried flowers to fresh edible flowers as the fresh petals wilt very quickly esp if the cakes are kept in the fridge after being decorated.

I liked hearing about mango from LA food trucks while they made watermelon kimchi, which is something I think I shall try soon.

I won’t make the fried chicken but I liked learning about the process of preparing it, and was very impressed by the crunch.

I can say more, but I guess it will still come across as putting bait out, so I’ll stop for now.

Id like to add that I’ve watched hummingbird videos as recommended by yesterday’s discussion - I was very surprised to see how neat the nest was- it look felted and perfectly round. And the baby bird practising wing flapping was simply adorable.

Have a good night everyone!

That's what I've done. Tirelessly. Didn't work.

I talked about lots of detail of her series, I started the convo about hummingbirds, I linked a picture, I've linked details of the soundtrack for all the episodes. And more.

It still descends into 'Meghan is awful'. So really a bit pointless. Any thread about her riles those who loathe her and they have to post negatively.

By the way, I'm not a cheerleader, and not a 'fan', I just find the incessant criticism of another woman 24/7/365 a joke.

No.

Positive Threads About Meghan have been started before by people who genuinely like Meghan and all go the same way. I’d say that is why no poster raced off to start a positive thread when it was suggested - as though it was a new idea, previously unthought of. Experience has proven these threads won’t be left alone by multiple Meghan critics.

Despite this, posters who like Meghan, or those who simply find the often obsessive criticizing of Meghan distasteful, did join this thread in good faith. Perhaps THIS time the critics would stay away? Nope. It seems like the Meghan critics just can’t help themselves.

Spectre8 · 23/03/2025 21:40

Yup they just can't stay away that's why noone does anymore. I wanted to start one affer watchinf her show d but I'm not going to waste my time and energy when it will just be derailed. And look here is the clear proof that you can't.

DramaDog · 23/03/2025 22:18

Anyone who starts a thread about Meghan knows that it will result in her being criticised. I wouldn’t start a thread about her for that reason. The people who spend their days finding fault with everything she does can’t help themselves, this thread has shown that. It’s unhealthy behaviour.

BemusedAmerican · 23/03/2025 22:22

Or refusing to give into the whitewashing of her new PR person. I take it the new campaign is let's forget the past or you are an unkind person.

No one is saying that. They’re saying that a positive thread can’t be positive because some people feel the need to bring up anything and everything that they believe Meghan has done wrong on every thread.

Many people have done a lot wrong in life, that we have actual proof of, but personally I would think there is something not right about people posting about it constantly for years on a daily basis. It’s even more odd when there is no proof, it’s all he said, she said stuff and people have just picked a side and seem to dedicate their life to it. The same for those that do it on Meghans side to but on mumsnet it’s mainly the Meghan haters that are doing it, thread after thread after thread.

No. I never said that.

You kinda insinuated it. Harry behaviour toward his army colleague was reprehensible. What’s interesting one comment from this thread ( can’t remember who it was from) said Harry came from a racist family. Yet Harry is the only caught caught on camera actually being racist. I don’t remember seeing anything Iabout Charles or William being racist only Harry”s word for it that it happened. What important here is that Harry actually filmed himself saying these disgraceful things.

Yet you are aware of, and presumably follow, HG Tudor of YouTube fame? or is your username just a happy coincidence..?

Buckingham Palace apologised for one of Prince Philip’s racist remarks, would they have done that if he didn’t say it? Some of his were caught on camera. It’s in the family. The racist brooch was there for everyone to see too.

I know. It's why I mentioned her death threats at the beginning as there are some serious obsessives out there who seem to have made it their life's work to destroy her.

I didn't check out the comments, just saw video after video of some weirdo slagging her off

You clearly know of him? I'll check him out.

Monteshitshow is referred to a lot over the internet, I'm not sure you can give that guy the credit for it.

Seeing videos like that and the accompanying comments makes me feel very uncomfortable and unsettled. These people walk amongst us and it’s concerning. I wonder how people end up going down a path of hating someone so much when they don’t know them and posting this creepy and obsessive shit. It’s disturbing.

I have never heard it other than OPs username. I suppose it depends what you spend your time reading and watching. 🤔 Having a username ‘inspired’ by negativity towards Meghan and Harry is, shall we say, ‘interesting’.

I just put Monteshitshow into a google search, apparently there is a DuchAss of Monteshitshow that comes up quite frequently, who knew 🤷‍♀️.

Lets not forget this goes go both ways.

@WatchedEverything What would happen if I put Sussex Squad into a google search? What am I likely to read? Should I be concerned that these types are happily walking amongst us? Would I find it disturbing?

Yes I think we should all feel disturbed by anyone making such content and comments on either ‘side’. It’s just not what normal people do. At best there is something missing from the lives of people that are this obsessive and at worst they are bullying, inciting hatred and could be dangerous.

I listened to one of the videos and he's a very nasty misogynist calling for her downfall.

I found an article describing some of the abuse she suffered:

The Duchess of Sussex received "disgusting and very real" threats while a working royal, the outgoing Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner has said.

Neil Basu said he would understand if Meghan had felt "under threat all the time".

People have been prosecuted over the threats, he told Channel 4 News.

Prince Harry, who moved to California with Meghan in 2020, said last year he did not feel safe when visiting the UK.

I looked up Monteshitshow and it's used by Meghan haters.

I started to watch the Tudor but couldn’t get through more a couple of minutes of it.

It really is disturbing.

MissFenellaPrism · 24/03/2025 05:59

Yes, @malti , there were threats against Meghan. She was a senior member of the British Royal Family and one of the most famous people in the world. Unfortunately, all the royals, as well as politicians and celebrities are often victims of threats. William and Kate were threatened by someone with a crossbow who got into their grounds. Charles faced threats many times. The late Queen was threatened by someone with a gun when Trooping thr Colour. An intruder got into her bedroom when she was in bed.
That's why RAVEC gave Meghan, and Harry, top level security. During her time in the UK, she was never even papped.
