He was taking the piss out of the bland content of the conversation between the Duchess and her 'gothic' beekeeper His reference to the Algonquin Roundtable was him teasing that it wasn't exactly like listening to Dorothy Parker and Groucho Marx. He was being reasonable here and in step with the reviewers from the Guardian, Telegraph, Independent as well as the (Irish) Western People. He's hardly an outlier.

Yes, I know about the Algonquin Table. I don’t think Meghan was pretending to have that level of conversation.

There are too many people criticising Meghan and for too often and too long. I don’t admire them. I’m afraid that the Father just came across as yet another one.

It’s becoming some sort of sickness in society to do it. Who knew that when the internet was invented it would be used for such an unelevated purpose?

I was going to reply to this, but you know what, I CBA.

If you don't understand why someone who has repeatedly, continually and deliberately put herself in the public eye to make money on the basis of her brief association with the royal family (who she has denigrated also in public many times!) has been criticised, well then there is nothing more to be said.

I so agree with this. Well said @RevolutionaryMode . It's what I posted a couple of days ago but when you have half a dozen posters strongly disagreeing with you and a Catholic priest can say what he wants, it was easier for me to retreat!

The Catholic priest was just another one jumping on the bandwagon to have a jab at Meghan. I do think it is becoming more obvious and more uncomfortable as time goes on. People are seeing this unwarranted vilification of a human being, they are opening their eyes to this endless dehumanising of Meghan. The woman has made a lifestyle series and is selling some clothes.....so bloody what, she's not the anti Christ, leave her alone and let her get on with it. You don't have to like it, you don't have to look at it, you don't have to engage with it, and you certainly don't have to jump on the bandwagon piling on insults. What sort of people are you?

Very many people put themselves in the public eye to make money, they don't get this complete destroying of them by countless people out to make money, or those who can't accept she has moved on. You all need to.

That’s what she’s done in the last three months, yes. But that’s not all she’s done of course. People don’t have to wipe the slate clean for her when she pivots to something new.

I agree with you. I don’t think it’s seem very professional that a priest would join in with this sort of thing. I would like to think we could expect better of religious leaders so it’s disappointing. Commenting on anything Meghan does negatively seems an easy way to get lots of attention for people. I find it really pathetic, even more pathetic when it’s meant to be a priest who should set a better example.

We really should be able to expect better from people in positions of power and trust. They know that their opinion can influence hold a lot weight so it’s irresponsible to join in with it in the way he has.

I listened to his pod cast and it really is very mild about Meghan. Yes he says the show is boring but Ihonestly did not feel the whole tone was nasty or vindictive and he talks about other things as well.

That's just how it came across to me and obviously I would not dispute how other people felt it came across to them.
