Markle's logo is similar to the logo on the back of the crew jackets for Madonna's Blond Ambition tour.

Is there anything original about this woman?

Kind of you to say @AtIusvue💐

BasiliskStare · 24/03/2025 19:17

@Extiainoiapeial I actually watched Father Kilcoyne and I thought it was rather amusing and indeed dare I say charming. It really didn't come across a mean to me - but as you so rightly say each to their own. 😊 I might keep an eye out for him on different topics

mainecooncatonahottinroof · 24/03/2025 19:34

Extiainoiapeial · 24/03/2025 13:04

Yes, and there's even a Catholic priest wading in with really appalling comments, urging catholics to watch the show as penance and drink in the mediocrity of the series.
No wonder I'm not religious.

He's as much entitled to express his opinion as anyone else.

Extiainoiapeial · 24/03/2025 20:39

I have already said on here more than once, it's just my opinion. You can of course have a different one.

No offence meant but why are you repeating yourself endlessly if you have already said several times?

glitterturd · 24/03/2025 20:41

No offence meant but why are you repeating yourself endlessly if you have already said several times?

Because the previous poster made a comment on it and quoted me. I imagined that poster hadn't seen my replies, hence her post to me. No offence taken.

No offence to you but why are you picking me up on everything?

glitterturd · 24/03/2025 20:52

You're nothing special @Extiainoiapeial . 😂 I pick up anyone on a comment I may disagree with .

Extiainoiapeial · 24/03/2025 21:04

I'm not the slightest bit special ! You disagreed with me saying I had already said more than once I was a lone opinion on here, that's odd to disagree with but never mind.

TheAutumnCrow · 25/03/2025 00:56

Anyway, moving on ...

I think H is on an A1 Head of State visa in order to be in the US. Otherwise the redactions wouldn't make sense. I wonder if this would help or hinder M's business attempts, were such a thing to leak out?

GP throwing shade at Meghan.

I don’t think Gwyneth is throwing shade as much as having a bit of fun. I like competitiveness when it is not mean spirited. I don’t think GP is being mean spirited. She wasn’t the first influencer in the homemaking arena and she won’t be the last. I read it as a bit of a ‘welcome to the club’ video.

Martha Stewart, a wonderful cook, hostess, gardener etc is actually quite scary. I’d not want to work in her kitchen. Her cooking the one dish pasta ‘currently taking the internet by storm’ was a fun welcome gesture too, I thought. I’ve recommended it before - if people haven’t seen the ‘Martha’ documentary on Netflix yet, it’s well worth the watch. It’s not full of cooking. It’s something that examines her life from beginning up to now. She participated in it, but I read she doesn’t like the documentary. You come to understand why she’s the sort of person she is.

RevolutionaryMode · 25/03/2025 05:48

People complaining about being censored, and that they ‘can't say anything’, amazes me. Never before, in the history of the world, have so many had so much to say and they are saying it.

RevolutionaryMode · 25/03/2025 07:06

the priest:

Well mentioning Meghan gets people more content clicks. It was the same silly criticsm I’d seen of her - shallow mediocre blah blah. Nothing original there.

But he said (paraphrasing some of this) that Royals should not marry commoners, they should stay traditionally inbred and reasonably stupid, they should speak Olde English and Latin so hardly anyone can understand them, but that they are good for the pageantry as the world would be boring and grey without it???? Yeah. A catholic priest would be more likely to think that given their own taste for pageantry. (Personally I think pageantry can be entertaining but I feel sorry about his limited view of the beautiful world supposedly his God has given to us?)

Then he turned. He said Harry and his uncles were former and distinguished soldiers, and did not deserve to be connected to a shallow woman.

He doesn’t like women is my guess. I can’t confirm it because 15 minutes of that man was all I could handle for ever. Arrrmennnn. He’s a priest so that makes sense. Not all priests.

I have no opinion but the working theory from the Heritage Foundation who are still pursuing this- is that it’s an O1 visa.

The courts are working overtime to stop Trump and his backers making up their own laws and doing as they please.

It’s all very serious and I hope the judicial system can put the reins on Trump - he won’t act decently on his own. Trump, and his backers, and the people he has chosen for his administration are a combination bunch of very rich people, and idiots, and populists. Such a shame to watch this happen in America. It was far from perfect before, but they had some fine notions of democracy, and respect for conventions and also had well informed and very capable people in the administrations. It was those people that stymied Trump last time. Now the President and mates are currently engaged in wrecking the joint - as my dad would have said.

It would be awful for Harry to have to uproot their lives at this point, I imagine. But financially they are much better placed them most people who are being faced with the threat of deportation.

If Harry has to, maybe he can buy one of those $5million gold cards that Trump says he’s introducing and stay anyway.

The priest.

is from the Irish Republic
is from a county in the West of Ireland that are overwhelmingly Republican
is Catholic

Like a lot of Irish, the memories of the British establishment land grabbing for the British aristocracy, outlawing the practice of Catholicism, decades of political prisoners and oppression of catholics and Ireland only gaining partial independence from British rule in 1922, is a strong part of history.

So yeah, an Irish Catholic priest from the Republic of Ireland is not going to feel any shame having a good ol' laugh about the British establishment, and joining in with the universal ridicule of the show put out by Duchess of Sussex.

I would think there are plenty of British republicans who enjoy him poking fun at the Royal family.

He said he likes the monarchy. I suggest you have a listen.

He made it clear that he thinks Meghan is beneath the royal family.

You missed the Irish nuance.

He said he is a monarchist, not a British Royal family fan.

What is happening in the US at the moment seems pretty dreadful, all my Americans friends are very worried.

I don't think Harry's in danger of deportation, mostly because Trump has a thing about the Royal family and that will protect Harry, ironically.

Quite. I'm from Not The UK, and found Fr Kilcoyne funny in a witty and erudite way within the context of his place, time, religion, culture and history. Many posters and watchers - here and on You Tube - will have a home country that has been through similar, erm, ecumenical and political frictions with a European monarchy or two.

He was taking the piss out of the bland content of the conversation between the Duchess and her 'gothic' beekeeper. His reference to the Algonquin Roundtable was him teasing that it wasn't exactly like listening to Dorothy Parker and Groucho Marx. He was being reasonable here and in step with the reviewers from the Guardian, Telegraph, Independent as well as the (Irish) Western People. He's hardly an outlier.

Well maybe in the light of her cynical use of her association to make millions from a family she despises, he could have a point?

Hush now, he's a Legend Of Aviation.

A legend in his own lunchbox (if he knows what that is! 😉) more like!

Inspired by Harry though, I think I might suggest to my employer that I am made a legend of <occupation> as I've been doing it at least three times longer than he was in aviation...

I actually don't know how he had the arrogance and the bare-faced cheek to walk up and accept that in public. Totally embarrassing!

RevolutionaryMode · 25/03/2025 23:10

So was the Father taking the piss out Harry and his uncles being soldiers more deserving than to be have to be associating with Meghan?

Well maybe in the light of her cynical use of her association to make millions from a family she despises, he could have a point?

I wouldn’t take aim at a woman that has been so extremely vilified, especially when so very many other people and publications are doing so. It’s really enough already. And many people seem to be saying similar. It just seems fucking mean and small at this point.

Yes, I know about the Algonquin Table. I don’t think Meghan was pretending to have that level of conversation.

There are too many people criticising Meghan and for too often and too long. I don’t admire them. I’m afraid that the Father just came across as yet another one.

It’s becoming some sort of sickness in society to do it. Who knew that when the internet was invented it would be used for such an unelevated purpose?

glitterturd · 25/03/2025 23:34

She's certainly coming across as the Material Girl now - watch out Susan Graver!
