Ha, Julie's bang on the money as usual referencing The Benny Hill theme! Did anyone else notice how much the background music sounds like the Benny Hill theme in Episode 1 "Hello, Honey!" around 16m20s when she and Daniel are making candles? What was that all about? I couldn't stop laughing. Is no-one on her team British? Definitely a wind-up by NF and her team, surely?

Edited

I definitely think some of the Netflix crew were trolling her, with the music and many clips they included that didn't put her in a good light. Just goes to show how foul she must be to work with, that she drives people to such actions in their professions.

There is no escape. I get emails from an organic farm/estate website that does some nice stuff, Welsh products, etc. The latest missive from the aristocratic owner urges me to "elevate each dish" with coastal lamb.

Stopitstopitstopitstopit. It's a plague!

They don't seem to have started sprinkling edible flowers on everything yet though, which is something.

In other news, I've just watched a YouTube video by a beauty expert telling people not to follow Meghan's method of mixing essential oils into epsom salts, unless you want to risk a massive skin reaction! Apparently, she uses far too much of the oil and no base oil (for something) to dilute it. I'm guessing, as with everything else in the programme, you are not meant to try it at home, but to buy her pre-made "As Ever" branded version. But still, it will be funny/not funny if people report that they are getting reactions from copying her method.

By the end of my pilgrimage through the first two episodes of WTM yesterday, I was starting to see gobs of mould, not the blue dried flowers Meghan was sprinkling on the children's sandwiches.

British Vogue review from an anonymous chef:

‘Seeing Meghan cook is like watching Stacey Solomon do DIY, only with a bigger budget and minus the Dagenham accent. There’s something satisfying about watching someone who is really into a new craft giving it their best go, unaware of how bang-average the outcome is.’

‘She has professional chefs come in to help her, who pull focus from Meghan’s Kendall-Jenner-style knife skills. (“Just gotta chop up some cucumber; it’s pretty easy!”) ‘ 😂

ByGraceAlone · 05/03/2025 15:44

Why couldn't M have used her 'creativity' in the RF?

Her 'creativity' seems to consist of home decor, hosting, prettifying, gardening. All things she could have done to her hearts content in her lovely Windsor cottage. It's the perfect setting to be a creative homemaker as a royal wife. Lots of money, lovely houses, lots of time, great connections.

What she means is: she hasn't been able to monetise her 'creativity'.
I'm sure no one was stopping her making bath salts.

Yes, even a few extra drops of citrus oil beyond the recommended limits in a bath can potentially cause ‘burns’. Much worse if the water is hot, and the skin is dehydrated. But WTF though….to put out a demo that is unsafe, that’s just poor governance.

Yes, essential oils are very irritating to the skin and should be used, if at all, in a very low concentration. But most dermatologists would probably advise you not to use them directly on the skin at all and to enjoy the fragrance through a diffuser or scented candle.

Also, isn't the whole format of the show a bit lacking in focus? From food to bath salts to homemade candles, using the wax from your local friendly beekeeper?

She’s always be second fiddle? If she and Kate genuinely didn’t get along possibly untenable in her defence. I think she tried.

I think Kate represented every girl and woman MM aspired to be and wasn't. It's why she had to get out: she wants to be #1. Kate was the British equivalent of the Californian swishy haired rich blonde girl at MM's private girls' school, who had the top boys and the top parents and the top houses and the top holidays. There wasn't enough room for them both. I can understand it. But there's no need to be so rude about them on your way out.

Yes very true. If she can’t make money from something it’s not worth doing in her book.

friendlycat · 05/03/2025 15:49

I think the problem is that it isn't what she wanted to do. She had visions of herself as a globe trotting philanthropist, taking private jets to gala dinners where she'd give well received speeches while wearing custom couture and rubbing shoulders with world leaders. That didn't quite work out, however, so now here she is sprinkling edible flowers on elevated sandwiches. The claim that she was somehow 'stopped' from doing so is just a way of pretending that this is what she wanted all along, when it clearly isn't.

Fundamentally this is the problem. Where she is now (well both of them) isn't where she wanted them to be. I think she very much did see herself as globe trotting and giving well received speeches to a variety of audiences.

But it's all about the content. Even when she has given speeches it's full of soundbites and no substance and the dreadful word salad that actually doesn't mean anything.

Even this latest endeavour has poor content, nothing new, nothing inspirational, no interesting practical hacks just nothing really but much love and admiration for Meghan delivered in a very fake setting in a very fake way.

When people watch a programme they want to be entertained or informed or amused or at the very least interested in the content. I can't see a future for her peddling this as it's so lacking in anything of substance.

It’s nuts that she wants to be adored yet walked away from a role where she’d have adoration just for turning up in a nice outfit, smiling and exchanging pleasantries with some proles.

I’ve watched a few clips online as I don’t have Netflix. I actually don’t mind it although it is dull and I am stunned they’ve left all those awkward moments in (MK and the Sussex, MK and the “lewk”, MM and the weird look at the chef who liked death metal).

As a pp said she does talk about race a lot yet aspires to be a basic-bitch thin white woman with a rich husband.

She apparently walked away because of the savage British press. Well what criticism she got in the UK is absolutely nothing to what she is receiving now on a global level. I don't take any pleasure in that. I don't know how anyone could cope with that level of criticism.

I agree. The criticism is now relentless and I really don't know how anybody could actually cope with it.

The fact that no one is going to pay you to travel the world giving speeches in couture unless you have actually built something concrete and long lasting in the world, seems to have passed both Harry and Meghan by.

One of things I love about Stacey Solomon's Instagram is that she loves having a go at crafts and isn't bothered if they are a bit crap. People find perfection repelling.

She really doesn’t need to be in the public eye at all. They could live off investments and have a quiet, fruitful life if they wanted to. Instead, she craves adulation and attention. She also has very expensive tastes.

She really should take a step back and retreat from public view to put an end to all the negative coverage. That isn't going to happen. She's hired a new communications chief.

Why should she?

She’s been in and around showbizz all of her life; it’s her trade if you like.

The people who are obsessively negative about her who slavishly follow the tabloid line need to desist and change their ways.

NB: Amal Clooney (?) There’s time. I applaud Harry’s work on Invictus, couldn’t they both add more value here & so, in time, earn stripes?
