Just thinking about her getting annoyed with Mindy Kaling about the Markle name. I mean, the woman is barely out of the press - much of which she creates herself by being the source - using the name "Markle", but this the first time in 5 years she's chosen to correct anyone on the use of her name. If I was Mindy Kaling, I would feel humiliated, and judging by the look on her face, she wasn't happy. And if they are that close as friends, why didn't she know Meghan goes by Sussex?
Mindy herself is a single mother and the paternity of her children is a closely guarded secret. She has a very modern set up of a woman who has chosen to go it alone. And then there are millions of modern women who do not change their names upon marriage, but do not feel any less like they are a family with their children who may have different surnames. Which is what MM was implying in her little PA speech on the topic. Her little speech was very much in the ballpark of smug, married trad wife, owned by and owning a big man husband. It makes me think about her other bit of anti feminist thoughtlessness, the Bench, her laughable celebration of fatherhood, that she didn't mind reading to a bunch of kids who may not have present fathers in a hard-pressed Harlem school. Just as long as Meghan Markle is ok, eh?
