Yes , Icedpurple , I should think the initial mega deal was to get hold of the RF gossip . I wonder what they thought of Harry dividing his favours there. But the RF have pretty much put the kibosh on that as without rehashing or going back in time they haven't anything new to sell on that front. And they haven't covered themselves in glory as producers.

Treeleaf11 · 03/03/2025 12:55

M's childhood does sound less than ideal no wonder she has issues. When she had her own kids it must have brought a lot of emotions about her own childhood to the fore. Having said that they do leave their kids a lot when there is no need to for them to both be away.

Indeed. As was the book deal.

No one wanted Pearl or The Bench or any of the rest of that twaddle: they were throwing a bone to Meghan to get Harry.

Harry probably didn’t expect to be cut out of family news and events . The fact that H and M found out about Catherine’s cancer at the same time as the rest of the world is indicative of how marginalised they are .
No contact = no gossip .

Even the tabloids seem to be struggling for royal content. Today The Mail had an article on William's scarf! Why are they rehashing trivia from years ago? I think that the Royal never complain never explain is working on their side and with Harry and Meghan also backing away from royal gossip they literally have nothing to say.

So the release of As Ever is a gift to tabloid clicks but I'm not sure if that will translate into views.

I may be wrong though, I didn't even recognise Serena so what do I know!

Stickystickysticky · 03/03/2025 13:58

@MrsLeonFarrell I didn't recognise Serena either !

Was it a weird angle maybe? I'm used to seeing her front on. Also because the caption mentioned an Aunty I assumed it was Ashley, whose face I can't quite remember!

BasiliskStare · 03/03/2025 14:10

@Mylovelygreendress I suspect M was pretty pissed off not to be in a carriage at their last Trooping of the Colour ( though she did mange to get herself front and centre of the overlooking window with a young child 😉) . Also no balcony appearance and not being in the procession at the commonwealth service. H&M needed these things to keep up the Royal thing. I think the RF have actually played a quiet blinder in keeping them away from anything which could boost their Royal connections or give them more fodder. Some of them and their advisors must have been spitting feathers at OW and Docuseries ( and am sure the advisors will have watched if not the RF.) But not to respond was utterly right IMHO

Harry said of his half in half out proposal that the RF would be getting them for friee he couldn't understand why they wouldn't . Because Harry , the RF is not there to big you up so you can use that to get TV and book deals etc.

Anyway I think he must realise now , the RF can get on without him and M better than he and M can get on without them (thus far) .

The mills of the RF grind slowly, yet they grind exceeding small. 😁

Yes, the royals have the luxury of knowing that, unless there is some major upheaval, their position is guaranteed for the foreseeable future. There will always be PR crises and ebbs and flows in their popularity. All they need to do is sit it out and carry on royalling, and the news cycle moves on.

It's a bit ironic that on the one hand Harry was resentful at being the surplus to requirements 'spare', yet on the other seemed to think he and his wife were essential to the functioning of the royal family. I do think he is genuinely shocked by how completely he has been frozen out. And now he has put himself in a position where, unlike the royals, he no longer has the luxury of time and has to work to keep himself relevant. I'm not sure he's quite grasped that however.

Yes, I thought the same, it didn't look like her. Serena in her instagram for the past few months has had dyed blonde hair, although possibly a wig,, and Serena seems to be much larger and broader than the person in the photo.

MissRoseDurward · 03/03/2025 14:52

As the Queen is reported to have said, 'You work for the monarchy. The monarchy does not work for you.'

isaknowsbest · 03/03/2025 15:09

I read that her father sold shares to pay for her wedding in Jamaica.
Does anyone know why it was such a long time ago- 7 years - before Meghan got married that first time?

InishBiggle · 03/03/2025 15:40

Do we know if the odious Samantha and Thomas Jr were invited to the first wedding?

LovelyJubly12 · 03/03/2025 15:52

She just looks very different these days. I don't know what it is. That article is a bit nauseating.

Stickystickysticky · 03/03/2025 15:54

Now she’s savoring this stillness at home with Archie as he stirs awake, sleepily telling her, “Mama, don’t work too hard.”

Maybe my child didn't care about me as much as Archie cares about his mother, but even when I was working 2 jobs and studying at university, not once did she worry about me working too hard!

I didn’t recognise her either and thought they’d made a mistake with the name.

AtIusvue · 03/03/2025 15:57

From People. Clap back at not being a trad wife, she’s obviously rattled:

‘And although the show paints a picture of domestic bliss, with Meghan slowcooking berries from her garden, she doesn’t consider herself a “tradwife” — shorthand for “traditional wife” — either.
“I like being able to do a hybrid,” she says. Chinese food delivery is a favorite, “but even when I get takeout, I will try to plate it beautifully,” says Meghan.’

Asi who plates a takeaway beautifully! That’s just obnoxious

I haven't read it all, so maybe I've missed out on some amazing insights.

But everything I did read sounds very generic, kind of like it's what she thinks she should be saying. As ever, it reads like she's playing a role.

And is anyone else struck by how she always refers to Harry as 'my husband' rather than by name?

AtIusvue · 03/03/2025 16:00

It brought her friends joy, seeing how amazing Meghan is at dinner or at home ? She has zero self awareness :

Receiving that kind of feedback from her friends, who have quietly supported her through the challenges of recent years, has been meaningful for Meghan. “You have to imagine my friends’ experience through the past few years,” she says. “They spend all this time with me at home and at their houses or out at dinners. For them to see who they know to be reflected onscreen, it brought them a lot of joy.”’

AtIusvue · 03/03/2025 16:09

Look at how kind and thoughtful she is guys:

‘You can see that as a unit,” the friend says of the Sussexes, “they’re all very connected.” After her son’s recent surgery, the friend recalls, Meghan sent a bouquet of balloons and a stuffed octopus from Archie and Lili, with a handwritten note that said, “We thought you could use a hug with eight arms.”’

Uricon2 · 03/03/2025 16:10

I'm doing pizza tonight (bought) and working out ways to arrange the anchovies (tinned) on top in a beautiful and elevating way.

Hear hear @Atlasvue

AtIusvue · 03/03/2025 16:11

She even mixes with the peasants:

‘Meghan embraces life in her community, whether solo or with friends. “I go to [yoga] classes that sometimes have 40 to 50 people in them and just walk in like, ‘Hi!’ ” she says, laughing. “Of course, at the beginning, that felt like a lot. By the way, I think anybody walking into a yoga class with 50 people and everyone looks up, it’s going to feel a little uncomfortable!” But now? “I love it. It’s the best. I had missed it.”’
